  • Patent number: 6226391
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for automatically placing a first unknown image, such as an unknown fingerprint image, into one of a plurality of categories. The invention includes storing in a library a plurality of value series, each of which series is derived from the frequency representation of an image category. The categorization process and apparatus takes the frequency image of a first unknown pattern to create a first frequency image. The frequency image plane of the first (unknown) frequency image is divided into a plurality of frequency image plane regions. Each of the frequency image plane regions may be an angular segment radiating from the origin of the frequency image plane. A region value is assigned to each of the frequency image plane regions based on the total energy in the frequency image in that region. The region values for the first frequency image are combined to generate a first series of region values.

  • Patent number: 6225916
Abstract: The remote control signal reception controller receives control data transmitted from a remote control signal sender. The remote control signal reception controller informs a CPU that controls a device of the information on the received control data by interrupting the CPU. When doing so, the remote control signal reception controller judges whether a piece of control data that has just been received and a preceding piece of control data were consecutively transmitted, and whether these two pieces of control data are the same control data. The remote control signal reception controller interrupts the CPU only once when finding that the same control data is continuously transmitted as the result of this judgement.

  • Patent number: 6226446
Abstract: A multimedia optical disk is provided. The multimedia optical disk includes a data area for storing objects which include moving picture data and at least one of audio data and sub-picture data. The multimedia optical disk also includes an index area for storing reproduction orders of the objects. Route information in the index area includes a sequence of addresses of objects whose alignment represents a reproduction order. Chain control information in the index area corresponds to the route information. The chain control information, being effective in reproducing objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses (objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses are called a chain), instructs the reproduction apparatus to have a navigation control of the chain. A piece of moving picture data having a certain time period is reproduced at the same timing as a piece of audio data and a piece of sub-picture data.

  • Patent number: 6215258
Abstract: A dynamic focus circuit enables ideal focusing characteristics to be obtained across the entire screen of a wide-angled cathode ray tube, by generating a dynamic focus voltage having a flat-bottomed waveform through the addition of a simple circuit to a conventional analog circuit. If an S-shaping voltage method is used, the voltage of a signal induced in a secondary coil of a step-up transformer for raising the voltage of a parabolic waveform signal having a horizontal deflection period switches the gain for converting the parabolic waveform signal to a dynamic focus voltage, according to whether the induced voltage exceeds a specified reference value. If the induced voltage does not exceed the specified reference value, the parabolic waveform signal is converted to the dynamic focus voltage at a gain of less than one.

  • Patent number: 6215933
Abstract: A bifilar FOG coil winding method employs two identical parallel fibers, each one-half the length of the final FOG coil wound between first and second payout spools so that the respective midpoint of each fiber is located between the two spools. Both parallel fibers are then wound to form a FOG coil using Frigo's quadrupole or dipole winding technique. Prior to winding, one of the payout spools is rotated 180° (degrees) about its fiber pair.

  • Patent number: 6212236
Abstract: Bitstream analyzing unit 111 fetches a coded block pattern and a coded quantized DCT coefficient from each block in a bitstream. Entropy decoding unit 112 decodes the coded block pattern into a block pattern and decodes the coded quantized DCT coefficient into pairs of a run length and an effectiveness factor. Dequantization unit 115 generates orthogonal transformation coefficients from the pairs of a run length and an effectiveness factor. Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform (IDCT) unit 110 generates a difference image from the orthogonal transformation coefficients. Decode controlling unit 110 instructs first selecting unit 118 to select constants “0”output from first constant generating unit 117 when the image is a “skipped” block. Image storage unit 120 stores a plurality of reference frame pictures having been decoded.

  • Patent number: 6208503
Abstract: A capacitor element (10) fabricated by winding an anode foil (1) and a cathode foil (2) via a separator (3) is impregnated with a 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene and an oxidizing agent to form poly(ethylenedioxythiophene) by chemical polymerization. A nonwoven fabric composed chiefly of a synthetic fiber is used as a separator, enabling a solid electrolyte to be favorably formed without being reacted with the oxidizing agent. Preferably, the capacitor element is dipped in water at 80 to 100° C. for 1 to 20 minutes to dissolve and remove the binder in the separator in order to preclude adverse effects on the electric characteristics caused by the binder. The oxidizing agent is used at a concentration in excess of 40% by weight with respect to the solvent, so that the degree of polymerization is high and a dense and homogeneous solid electrolytic layer is formed.
