  • Patent number: 5966514
Abstract: A microprocessor is provided for supporting reduction of codes in size, wherein instructions are extended in units of 0.5 word from a basic one word code. A word of instruction, fetched from an external memory, is transferred to a decoding register via instruction buffers and a selector both operate in units of half words, then is decoded by a decoder. A storage unit stores a state of an instruction stored in an instruction buffer. A controlling unit controls the selector so that the instructions are transferred from instruction buffers to the decoding register in units of half words based on a direction from the decoder and the states stored in the storage unit.

  • Patent number: 5959294
Abstract: A technique for interrogation of fiber optic interferometric sensors wherein an optical signal is modulated by an array of fiber optic sensors in response to acoustic pressure. Modulated signals (channels) from each sensor are multiplexed onto a single fiber optic cable and the multiplexed signal is input to a polarization diversity detector having at least two outputs. The optical signal is converted into a digital, electrical signal. A plurality of digital down converters demultiplex and demodulate the separate channels and output in-phase data and quadrature phase data for each of the signal channels. A system controller connects to the digital down converters and to a calibration digital down converter. The calibration digital down converter, controlled by the system controller, mimics an operation of each digital down converter in turn in order to determine optimal digital down converter settings for each digital down converter.

  • Patent number: 5951835
Abstract: More than two pressure reducing chambers 6 to 9 are located on both the upstream and the downstream of vacuum processing housings 11 and 12. Each of the pressure reducing chambers 6 to 9 includes a film conveying means 30, a vacuum exhausting means, and a gate valve 20 provided with a resilient member for closely holding down the running film 1 to seal off the vacuum state of a belt-like passage of the gate valve 20. As the pressure reducing chambers 6 to 9 are protected with their specific gate valve belt-like passage arrangement from reduction of the vacuum state and located respectively on the upstream and downstream sides of the vacuum processing units 11 and 12, the vacuum state in the continuous vacuum processing apparatus will be maintained to a desired level. While the running film 1 is being conveyed, the gate valves 20 at the first and second stages are actuated alternately for opening and closing after vacuum evacuation.

  • Patent number: 5951350
Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a method of producing a plasma display panel in which the fluorescent substance layer or the reflection layer is formed easily and accurately even for a minute cell structure, and in which the fluorescent substance layer or the reflection layer is formed evenly in the channels between the partition walls formed in stripes, or such a layer is formed also on the sides of the partition walls. To achieve this purpose, a fluorescent substance layer or a reflection layer is formed by applying a fluorescent substance ink or a reflection material ink continuously onto the channels, the ink being spouted out from a nozzle which runs along the partition walls. The nozzle may be directed to one side of the plurality of partition walls while running. Pressure may be put upon the ink having been applied onto the channels so that the ink sticks to both sides of the partition walls.

  • Patent number: 5943711
Abstract: A jet for use in spas and hydrotherapeutic reservoirs having a first set of nozzles aligned in a plane at the water entrance side of the jet and a second set of nozzles aligned one-to-one with the first set of nozzles at the water exit side of the jet. A chamber separates the two sets of nozzles and includes a slot which is used to introduce air into the fluid stream. The amount of air introduced into the chamber is controlled by the user by rotating the jet within its housing from a maximum air intake position to a "no-air" intake position, air being introduced through a slot surrounded by a rectangular seal structure. A housing is provided to mount the jet within the wall of a spa comprising a rear wall mounting, an end cap, and a front wall mounting. Water is introduced to the multiple jet structure via a single horizontal water inlet. The servicing of multiple jets by the single water inlet and air line improves plumbing reliability and further reduces labor by minimizing the number of plumbing joints.

  • Patent number: 5945041
Abstract: Method and device for producing lenses of microoptical systems and an optical emitter/receiver system. A curable liquid lens material is introduced into a mount which serves as a lens holder for the lens to be produced, and a convex lens surface is formed at an opening of the mount. The lens material introduced into the mount is irradiated with light during its introduction. An optoelement which forms part of the microoptical system is arranged relative to the lens at a position which it shall assume in the completed microoptical system. Simultaneously with the introduction process, either the image of a light emitter as the optoelement is measured in a selected plane at the side of the mount opposite the optoelement, or the signal intensity of the signal which is changed in an optical sensor as the optoelement as a result of incident light, and the introduction process is terminated when the image or the signal has reached a predetermined size and/or shape.

  • Patent number: 5946479
Abstract: A method and device for generating mesh to be used in numerical analysis for regions of an object to be analyzed, the regions of an object to be analyzed being input as data for a geometric model which defines their geometric form in a coordinate system which is set as a standard. This geometric model is then divided into equal parts in the coordinate directions of the coordinate system to generate blocks. After this, the vertices, endpoints and points of the shapes formed by the intersection or touching of the boundaries of the geometric model and each of the generated blocks are extracted. These extracted points, along with the vertices, endpoints and points of the geometric model and the vertices of the generated blocks, are set as nodes. Finally, mesh elements are generated for each block using the nodes.

  • Patent number: 5946649
Abstract: The present invention eliminates injection noise in speech produced by esophageal speakers. A speech input signal is digitized. One copy of the digitized signal is used for analysis and the other is passed through a gain switch to an amplifier as output. A Fast Fourier Transform and a mean value of the digitized speech input signal is calculated. The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is passed through a morphological filter to produce a filtered spectrum. An occurrence of injection noise is detected by calculating a derivative of the filtered spectrum and determining from the mean value and the derivative a location and value of a largest peak and a second largest peak in the filtered spectrum. If the largest peak is lower in frequency than the second largest peak, and if all points above 2 KHz are less than the mean, then an occurrence of injection noise has been detected.
