Abstract: A method for enriching a population of somatic mammary stem cells or mammary tumor stem cells based on low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 (LRP6). Also included are methods for screening for LRP6 modulators, as well as methods for reducing Wnt signaling, for treating Wnt signaling-related diseases, for detecting mammary basal-like cells, for diagnosing basal-like breast cancer, and for inhibiting proliferation of a tumor expressing LRP6, and compositions thereof.
Abstract: An energy management structure includes an elongated polygonal tube with at least four walls, the tube having a larger first end and a smaller second end, at least two of the walls including a longitudinally-extending channel-shaped tapered rib starting at the smaller second end and extending toward the larger first end. The ribs become shallower near the larger first end. The walls include crush initiators so that the ribs do not provide undesired strength to the tube during a longitudinal impact. A related method includes roll-forming a polygonal tubular shape with at least four walls, at least two of the walls including longitudinally-extending channel-shaped ribs, and reforming the tubular shape into a tapered polygonal shape with a larger end and a smaller end, the ribs becoming shallower as the ribs extend closer to the larger end.

Abstract: A support panel comprising a plate including a face, at least one row of support tabs and at least one row of L-shaped fingers. The at least one row of L-shaped fingers are located above at least one of the at least one row of support tabs. The L-shaped fingers include a first portion and a second portion defining the L-shape of the L-shaped fingers. A tile can be placed on at least one of the tabs and maintained in position by the second portion of at least one of the L-shaped fingers. Alternatively, the plate could include at least one row of upwardly and outwardly angled tongues for insertion into at least one angled slot in a rear face of a tile to maintain the tiles in position adjacent a front of the plate.
Abstract: A microphone assembly includes one or more transducers positioned in one or more housings. A processing circuit is coupled to the transducer for outputting an electrical signal such that the microphone in combination with the processing circuit very effectively cancels noise. The microphone assembly can be employed in a vehicle accessory.

Abstract: An assembly for mounting a parking aid sensor to an automobile bumper. The assembly may include a sensor housing including an internal structure configured to secure the parking aid sensor and an external structure configured to secure the sensor housing in an opening in the automobile bumper. A fascia may be mounted to or integrated with the sensor housing and disposable against the automobile bumper. The fascia may be formed of a non-opaque material for enabling a color or background of the automobile bumper to be visible through the fascia to enable the assembly to be used with a plurality of automobile bumpers of different colors or backgrounds.

Abstract: A telescopic sight includes a zoom mechanism with which an angle of adjustment of sighting can be enlarged, such that sighting precision of the telescopic sight can be stably maintained, and with which zooming can be performed with a light touch. The telescopic sight includes a zoom ring, an annular gear, a circumferential gear, an intermediate gear and a transmission mechanism. The zoom ring is turnably provided at an outer periphery of a lens barrel of a telescopic sight. The annular gear is provided at an inner periphery face of the zoom ring. The circumferential gear is rotatably provided, concentrically with the annular gear, at an inner periphery of the lens barrel. The intermediate gear is interposed between the annular gear and the circumferential gear and transmit rotation of the annular gear to the circumferential gear.
Abstract: A diesel exhaust filter construction includes a rectangular filter block, an elongated non-rectangular jacket with oval cross section, and support structure supporting the filter block in a center of the jacket. The support structure includes shielding components forming an insulating air gap with the jacket around the filter block (including a double-layered air gap in “hot” areas), and further includes support structure slidably supporting one end of the filter block to accommodate dissimilar thermal expansion. The structure further includes baffling components with angled surfaces directing input exhaust gases along efficient flow paths from an inlet cone into front, rear, and opposite sides of the filter block and further directing output exhaust gases from top and bottom sides of the filter block toward a longitudinally-centered outlet cone. Some components are identical is shape and size for use in different locations on the construction, thus simplifying tooling.

Abstract: An adjustable-weight exercise apparatus include a rod with opposing end sections defining bearing surfaces, a first shallow channel without ribs, and a second shallow channel with ribs. The weights each include a hub shaped to telescopingly slide onto ends of the rod. Each hub further includes opposing flexible fingers with tips configured to slide along the second shallow channel when in a first rotational orientation during assembly of the weights onto the rod, and configured to flex over a raised detent into engagement with the second shallow channel between the ribs when the weight is rotated.
Abstract: A vehicle door articulating and sliding mechanism is provided that includes a swing arm pivotally mounted via a first bracket to a vehicle structure at one end and a sliding assembly comprising a rotating second bracket mounted at an opposite end of the swing arm. The sliding assembly is slidably engaged to a vehicle door. The mechanism also includes a first flexible link at least partially encircling a first sprocket connected to the vehicle structure and a second sprocket fixed to the vehicle door. The mechanism further includes a second flexible link fixed to the vehicle door at one end and fixed to the vehicle structure at the opposite end. The second flexible link at least partially encircles a cam, wherein the first flexible link and cam provide a catch that engages the cam to accelerate movement of the door during opening.

Abstract: A pneumatic impact tool and method includes a cylinder pipe or housing closed with a cover, as well as an impact piston that forms a first pressure chamber between an impact plate and the impact piston, and a second pressure chamber between the cover and the impact piston. The cover is provided with at least one opening, the surface of which is smaller than the piston surface, whereby the impact piston seals the opening when it is in its fully retracted position.
Abstract: An exercise and performance evaluation apparatus includes a revolving belt on which a subject can perform bipedal locomotion, a harness for securing the subject at a fixed position relative to the apparatus, a means for measuring the force applied by the subject to the belt, and a means for monitoring and controlling the velocity of the belt. The harnessing of the subject allows monitoring of the velocity as a function of time. An overhead harness may be used to alter the effective mass of the subject. The velocity of the belt may be controlled by a motor and brake system, where the motor may be uni-directional or bi-directional.
