Abstract: A method or system or apparatus provides improved data handling. In one aspect, destination scheduling is performed by scheduling polling rather than scheduling data emissions. In particular aspects, a scheduler assigns a weight and sequence number to each destination and tracks a port segment count and schedules polling of ports using these parameters.
Abstract: Compositions and methods of producing components of protein biosynthetic machinery that include orthogonal lysyl-tRNAs, orthogonal lysyl-aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, and orthogonal pairs of lysyl-tRNAs/synthetases, which incorporate homoglutamines into proteins are provided in response to a four base codon. Methods for identifying these orthogonal pairs are also provided along with methods of producing proteins with homoglutamines using these orthogonal pairs.

Abstract: A method of obtaining a corrected image of a microarray includes acquiring an image of a microarray including a target spot, and processing the image to correct for background noise and chip misalignment. The method also includes analyzing the image to identify a target patch, edit debris, and correct for ratio bias; and detecting single copy number variation in the target spot using an objective statistical analysis that includes a t-value statistical analysis. The method provides statistically robust computational processes for accurately detecting genomic variation at the single copy level.

Abstract: This invention provides methods, compositions and systems to detect a nucleic acid of interest in a two-stage amplification. The two-stage amplification begins with a first non-enzymatic accumulation of an amplification oligomer that is the target substrate for a second nucleic acid amplification or assay. Two or more amplification oligomers can be used to allow multiplexed amplifications of two or more nucleic acids of interest with deconvolution based on unique detection signals or unique signal locations.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel osteoprotegerin variant proteins (OVPs) that demonstrate reduced binding affinity for their ligand TRAIL when compared to wild-type osteoprotegerin. Nucleic acids which encode these OVPs are also provided. Recombinant vectors and host cells expressing these OVPs are also encompassed as are methods of producing recombinant OVPs. The present invention also relates to compositions comprising these OVPs, and to methods of treating bone diseases characterised by increased bone turnover and/or loss. The OVPs of the invention are useful for preventing bone resorption and may be used to treat any condition resulting in abnormal bone turnover or bone loss such as osteoporosis, hypercalcemia, Paget's disease of bone, multiple myeloma, bone cancer and bone loss due to rheumatoid arthritis or osteomyelitis, and the like.

Abstract: This invention relates to a micromachined microfluidics diagnostic device that comprises one or multiple assaying channels each of which is comprised a sample port, a first valve, a reaction chamber, a second valve, a fluid ejector array, a third valve, a buffer chamber, a capture zone and a waste chamber. Each of these device components are interconnected through microfluidic channels. This invention further relates to the method of operating a micromachined microfluidic diagnostic device. The flow of fluid in the microchannels is regulated through micromachined valves. The reaction of sample analytes with fluorescent tags and detection antibodies in the reaction chamber are enhanced by the micromachined active mixer. By ejecting reaction mixture onto the capture zone through micromachined fluid ejector array, the fluorescent tagged analytes bind with capturing antiodies on capture zone. The fluid ejector array further ejects buffer fluid to wash away unbound fluorescent tags.
Abstract: This invention provides novel devices and methods for manipulation of moisture/fluid levels in and/or upon objects and is used to, e.g., safely dry wet books and documents with minimal deleterious side effects or to add humidity to such books/documents or other objects or areas.
