    Abstract: The present invention relates to new polyols modified by phosphonoformamidine groups, to a process for the preparation thereof and the use thereof as starting component for the preparation of preferably foamed polyurethane plastics.The process involves (A) reacting diisocyanatocarbodiimides corresponding to the following general formula:OCN--R.sup.2 --N.dbd.C.dbd.N).sub.m R.sup.2 --NCOwith polyhydroxyl compounds corresponding to the following general formula:A--OH).sub.nto form a polyhydroxyl compound containing carbodiimide groups and (B) reacting the carbodiimide groups remaining in the product of step (A) by means of a basic catalyst with a phosphite corresponding to the following general formula: ##STR1## to form phosphonoformamidine groups wherein m represents a number of from 1 to 10, andR.sup.1 represents a C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 aliphatic, C.sub.4 -C.sub.15 cycloaliphatic or C.sub.6 -C.sub.

    Abstract: The instant invention is directed to compounds having an average molecular weight of from 300 to 12,000, containing: at least one hydroxyl group and at least one urethano-aryl-sulfonic acid group and a method for their preparation. The process is characterized as a process for the preparation of compounds having a number average molecular weight of from 300 to 12,000 having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one urethano-aryl-sulfonic acid group, comprising: reacting at from 0.degree. to 190.degree. C.(A) compounds having a molecular weight of from 62 to 10,000 having at least two hydroxyl groups; with(B) aromatic isocyanato sulfonic acids, wherein the equivalent ratio of the total quantity of isocyanate groups (including any isocyanate groups present in dimerized form) to sulfonic acid groups is from 0.5:1 to 50:1 and the equivalent ratio of the sum of hydroxyl groups in (A) to NCO groups is from 1.5:1 to 30:1. The invention is also directed to the product by the process.

    Abstract: An apparatus for hydrolytic degradation of plastics in which plastic material is deposited into a tubular housing via a feed hopper. An elongated screw shaft has a first section in the form of a high pitch screw thread disposed below the feed hopper to receive and advance the material to a second section. The second section of the screw shaft is in the form of a lower pitch thread for compressing the plastic material and transferring it to a longer, third section in the form of kneading discs, from which material passes through an outlet nozzle section to a cyclone separator where trapped gases and liquid may be withdrawn. The tubular housing is vented upstream of the feed hopper and a water inlet pipe is disposed adjacent to the second section of the screw shaft, downstream of the feed hopper. The outlet nozzle section is provided with pressure measuring and regulating means and a liquid level measuring and regulating device.
