Abstract: Modular die constructions includes a plurality of side-by-side self-contained, interchangeable meltblowing modules on a manifold so that the length of the die can be varied by adding modules or removing modules from the manifold.
Abstract: A meltblowing die for producing nonwoven polymer webs includes an inner tube having a plurality of orifices arranged in a row thereon, and an outer tube encasing the inner tube and having a slot formed therein in registry with the row orifices. The inner tube and outer tubes are constructed to define converging air passages on either side of the row of orifices, whereby hot air delivered to the outer tube converges on polymer fibers extruded through the orifices and imparts drag forces thereon to attenuate and draw down the fibers to microsize.
Abstract: An in-line continuous method of formulating and applying a hot melt adhesive to a substrate involves metering a particulate polymer adhesive and a tackifier in a weight ratio in an extruder where the raw materials are formed into a homogeneous melt. The melt is continuously discharged directly into a hot melt applicator for deposition onto a substrate.
Abstract: A meltblowing die assembly featuring a preassembled die tip assembly permitting the rapid exchange thereof. The preassembled die tip assembly includes a die tip having a triangular nosepiece, a member mounted on the die tip assembly for conforming the die tip to the die body, and a pair of air plates mounted on the die tip and in combination with the nosepiece define converging air slots.
Abstract: Subterranean oil-bearing formations are treated with aqueous acid solutions which include an effective amount of an alkoxylated alkyl substituted phenol sulfonate which exhibits both antisludge and demulsification properties.

Abstract: Water-in-oil emulsions are broken by the use of adducts prepared by reacting high molecular weight polyalkylene glycol with ethylene oxide, or diglycidyl ether, or both ethylene oxide and diglycidyl ether. The adduct demulsifiers may be used alone or as a blend with other demulsifiers.
Abstract: A coalbed formation is stimulated to improve the recovery of methane which involves injecting into the coalbed formation an aqueous acid solution containing an organic amphoteric tertiary ammonium compound having from 1 to 3 tertiary ammonium groups, each N of which contains at least one C.sub.3 to C.sub.4 unsaturated carboxylic acid group, and wherein the compound contains a terminal benzyl or C.sub.5 -C.sub.19 alkyl group.

Abstract: High MI, high MP ethylene-fluorinated ethylene copolymers (preferably ECTFE) are meltblown through relatively large orifices. The web produced by the process is characterized by low fiber size and high strength.
Abstract: A salt of polyacrylic acid having a molecular weight of between 1,000 and 50,000, preferably 1,000 to 5,000, is used to inhibit inorganic fouling in crude oil.
Abstract: Dialkylphenylenediamines are used to inhibit oxidation and polymerization of furfural or furfural derivatives. The preferred use of the inhibitor is in the solvent refining of lubricating oils using furfural to extract constituents from the lubricating oils. Prior to and/or during the treatment the acidity of the furfural is adjusted to a level below 0.20 mg KOH/gram furfural.

Abstract: Amines which are compounds of the formula I: ##STR1## where R is a C.sub.6-20 hydrocarbon;X is --NR.sub.1 -- or --O--;each R.sub.1 is independently H or --[(CH.sub.2).sub.1-4 ]COOH or a C.sub.6-20 hydrocarbon;n is 1, 2 or 3;and which contains at least one (CH.sub.2).sub.1-4 COOH group; or salt thereof are useful in inhibiting corrosion of metals in a marine or freshwater environment e.g. in oil- and gas-field applications since they show relatively low toxicity to marine organisms.

Abstract: A hot melt adhesive polymer is applied to a diaper backsheet by an aligned series of meltblowing units which are selectively operable to apply the coating in the desired geometry on the diaper backsheet.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing a meltblown continuous and seamless nonwoven tube is described. The apparatus comprises a meltblowing die for extruding two groups of polymer thermoplastic filaments onto a rotating mandrel to form a multilayer layer tube thereon. The tube is withdrawn from the mandrel by a rotating screw. The present apparatus is capable of producing nonwoven tubes having variable fiber diameters and/or composition in the radial direction, making them ideally suited for filtration purposes.

Abstract: Granules containing a gel breaker are used in a well treatment involving the use of a gelled fluid. The granules exhibit delayed release of the breaker to permit placement of the gelled fluid into the subterranean formation. The method of the present invention is used in gravel packing operation to degrade polymeric gelling agents used in the gravel packing liquid.
