  • Patent number: 4852796
Abstract: A display container comprising a base having bottom, side and end walls, as well as a lid having a lower end telescopically engaged into the base. The lid has top, side and end walls. The upper portions of the side walls of the lid which are not within the base have outer surfaces which are co-planar with the outer surfaces of the base side walls so that a smooth, flush and continuous path is established around the lid and base which can receive tape or other packaging material for fastening the lid to the base. A divider assembly is enclosed within the telescopically engaged lid and base for providing separate compartments within the display container. The lid end walls can cover at least part of the upper edge of the base end walls.

  • Patent number: 4840358
Abstract: A hydraulic mount assembly is disclosed having expandable primary and secondary fluid chambers, an orifice track for damping action and a damping decoupler. During low level dynamic loading of the mount, hydraulic pressure activates the decoupler. At higher level loading, fluid passes through the orifice track between the two chambers providing the damping action. An expandable pneumatic bladder is mounted within the primary chamber. A control system including two one-way valves governs ingress and egress of outside air to the pneumatic bladder, thereby selectively reducing the overall damping and dynamic rate characteristics in response to sensed vehicle operating conditions. This reduction is accomplished by allowing the bladder to inflate with air providing a relatively soft, engine isolating mount. Alternatively, the control system allows controlled bladder deflation, selectively returning the mount to relatively hard characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4836584
Abstract: A coupling for a fluid conduit under pressure has a plug carrying O-rings and inserted in a socket. A bead on the plug forms a stop for location of the O-rings. A nut rotatably mounted on the plug and held adjacent the bead has an elongated threaded annulus engaging threads on the socket so that nut rotation in either direction causes corresponding axial movement of the plug. Upon disconnection of the coupling the nut is partially backed off to remove the plug causing pressure release while the nut is still attached to the socket.

  • Patent number: 4836512
Abstract: A hydraulic mount is construded as a pair of mounting members, an elastomeric body that connects these members, an elastomeric diaphragm that is connected to one of the members and cooperates with the elastomeric body to define a closed cavity, and a partition that divides the cavity into a chamber enclosed by one side of the partition and the elastomeric body and another chamber enclosed by the other side of the partition and the diaphragm. A cylindrical sleeve interconnects the elastomeric body and one of the mounting members and sealingly peripherally clamps the diaphragm to the one mounting member independent of the partition which is mounted for unrestrained reciprocal movement and solely separates the chambers. A liquid fills the chambers and a damping orifice connects the chambers to provide damping. The damping orifice is provided by forming the partition with a spiral groove in an annular surface thereof that cooperates with an interior wall on the one mounting member to define the damping orifice.

  • Patent number: 4831844
Abstract: A condenser for an air conditioning system has a tube and fin design. The tubular flow path divides into two parallel paths at the condenser inlet. The two paths combine at a junction at a point about two thirds of the distance to the outlet. A single path connects the junction to the outlet. In general condensation of the refrigerant occurs in the dual path and liquid flows at high velocity in the single path to the outlet for better heat transfer and reduced liquid volume in the tubular path.

  • Patent number: 4805347
Abstract: A deflatable sealing member forms a weatherstrip to seal a closure opening. The sealing member includes an operative tubular section designed to provide tight interference engagement between the closure and vehicle body when vented to atmosphere and expanded by built-in resilient memory. A bellows pump is connected to the sealing member through a flow control circuit. The bellows pump serves to deflate the sealing member during closing of the closure. The bellows pump is adapted for convenient mounting in a cavity in the closure or vehicle body spaced from the closure hinge area. A flexible cable connects the bellows pump to the closure or vehicle body to provide the necessary actuation for operation of the bellows pump in response to the swinging movement of the closure. As the closure closes and latches, a valve is opened to vent the sealing member to ambient pressure, and the sealing member expands by resilient memory to its full cross section so as to provide a tight seal.

  • Patent number: 4797263
Abstract: A catalytic converter has a monolith with a plurality of catalyst coated passages to which internal combustion engine exhaust gases are directed with a nonuniform velocity profile that is highest at the center. A flow distributor is mounted in the converter downstream of the monolith that restricts flow centrally through the monolith while allowing relatively free flow radially outward toward the periphery to thereby alter the velocity profile at the entrance to the monolith so as to effect substantially equal distribution of the gases between all the monolith passages without extracting heat from the gases prior to entering same and without adding substantial back pressure.

  • Patent number: 4796874
Abstract: A hydraulic mount assembly includes a pair of mounting members connected to each other through a hollow elastomeric body. The body is closed by a resilient diaphragm so as to form a cavity for damping liquid. A partition or plate is provided to divide the fluid filled cavity into two distinct chambers. A primary chamber is formed between the partition and the interior wall of the body. A secondary chamber is formed between the partition and the interior wall of the diaphragm. The partition includes at least two flow passages connecting the two chambers. A sliding gate extends across the opening to one of the passages. This gate is displaceable to direct an infinitely variable flow of liquid between the primary and secondary chambers to provide an infinitely variable damping effect. The gate is actuated by a linear solenoid providing this desired proportional operation. The other passage opening remains fully open at all times. In another embodiment, a rotary valve extends across the passage entry.
