Abstract: A feed stock composed of an iron ore and a solid reducing material is supplied in a movable hearth furnace provided with a unidirectionally movable hearth, stacked on the movable hearth and then subjected to a series of operations of preheating, reduction and discharge. To this end, a feed stock subsequently supplied in such furnace is preheated by utilizing a heat applied by the finished reduced ore and is stacked on the movable hearth.
Abstract: A high-Cr martensite steel pipe having excellent pitting resistance and method for manufacturing the same, which involves forming a pipe of steel including C: about 0.03 wt % or less, Si: about 0.5 wt % or less, Mn: about 0.5-3.0 wt %, Cr: about 10.0-14.0 wt %, Ni: about 0.2-2.0 wt %, Cu: about 0.2-1.0 wt % and N: about 0.03 wt % or less with the balance being Fe and incidental impurities, and having a value X shown as defined in the following formula (1) of about 12.2 or more. The pipe is quenched after austenitizing it at a temperature substantially equal to an A.sub.C3 point or higher, and the pipe is annealed in a temperature range from about 550.degree. C. or higher to a temperature lower than an A.sub.C1 point.
Abstract: A flame retardant resin composition including 100 parts by weight of component (A) or (B) and 0.01 to 30 parts by weight of red phosphorus (C) shows excellent flame retardancy even if the molding obtained from it is thin, and is excellent in mechanical properties, wet heat resistance and electric properties, being suitable for mechanical parts, electric and electronic parts, automobile parts, and housings and other parts of office automation apparatuses and household electric appliances. Component (A) may be a thermoplastic resin polyethylene terephthalate and ethylene terephthalate copolymers, and polyethylene terephthalate and/or ethylene terephthalate copolymer, and component (B) may be a thermoplastic resin selected from ##STR1## (O--R.sup.2 --O), (O--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --O) and ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are divalent aromatic residues.
Abstract: A nonwoven fabric comprising thermoplastic resin fiber bundles, wherein numerically at least about 50% of all the fibers present are bonded to each other in the form of fiber bundles. The fiber bundles are arranged along substantially one direction.

Abstract: Grain oriented electrical steel sheet with a very low iron loss and a method for producing the same, wherein the surface of the iron substrate of the grain oriented electrical steel sheet is subjected to an enhancement treatment of crystal grain orientation or surface smoothing to a mean roughness of about 0.20 .mu.m or less, electroplating a chromium plating layer on the substrate with heterogeneous growth, and applying a tension coating film to the plating layer.
Abstract: An apparatus for fluid treatment of yarn, which has a yarn passage and a fluid passage with a fluid outlet in the yarn passage, wherein the fluid passage has a substantially straight passage and an expanding passage existing between the end of the substantially straight passage and the fluid outlet, and that the width of the expanding passage in the direction parallel to the axial line of the yarn passage increases gradually from the end of the substantially straight passage to the fluid outlet.
Abstract: A method for producing a fabric, by a loom equipped with healds, a reed and a back roller, characterized by using synthetic filament yarns as the warp yarns and the weft yarns to be supplied to the loom, using a drive system having a cam for the shedding and closing motions of the healds, and keeping the dwell angle of the healds in a range from 85 to 120 degrees. The back roller is equipped with a positive easing mechanism, and the easing quantity by the easing mechanism is adjusted in a range from about 5 to about 15 mm. Where the warp yarns positioned in the selvages of the fabric among the warp yarns are called selvage yarns and the warp yarns additionally added to the selvage yarns are called insert yarns, then the number of insert yarns per 10 selvage yarns is in a range of from 1 to 10, and one selvage yarn each and one insert yarn each are guided through each dent of the reed.
Abstract: A method for producing pyrrolidine derivatives such as 3,4-epoxypyrrolodines, 3-pyrrolidols and the like, by oxidizing 3-pyrrolines with at least one peroxide in the presence of at least one acid is disclosed. The 3-pyrrolines are produced by deriving cis-2-butene compounds from cis-2-butene-1,4-diols and performing a cyclization between the cis-2-butene derivatives and at least one primary amine. The method may be performed as a one-pot synthesis and may be performed as a continuous reaction.
Abstract: A composite steel sheet including a steel base member; an undercoat having opposed surfaces and a thickness of 10-750 .mu.m obtained by spraying one or more spraying materials selected from metals, non-oxide ceramics, oxide ceramics and cermets onto the steel base member. The undercoat has an oxide layer of not less then 0.5 .mu.m in thickness on one of the opposed surfaces positioned away from said steel base member. A fired topcoat is formed on the oxide layer of the undercoat from a vitreous coating having a linear expansion coefficient of 4-11.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C.
Abstract: Producing reduced metal by charging and stacking a raw material containing a metal-containing material and a solid reducing material on a horizontally moving hearth of a traveling hearth furnace, by disposing a solid reducing material layer on the hearth, forming concave portions at the solid reducing material surface, stacking the raw material on the surface of the solid reducing material layer, reducing raw material by at least once heating and melting the material on the hearth to separate metal and gangue and ash ingredients, and discharging metal from the hearth.

Abstract: Disclosed are a thermoplastic polyester composition comprising a thermoplastic polyester (A) prepared from an acid component mainly comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a glycol component mainly comprising an aliphatic glycol and .theta.-type aluminum oxide particles (B); a thermoplastic polyester composition comprising the thermoplastic polyester (A) and a mixture (C) of two or more kinds of aluminum oxide particles different from each other in crystal structure; and films made from these compositions. Particularly, the films formed from the compositions can have excellent slipping property, abrasion resistance, and scratch resistance in repeated high-speed running.
Abstract: A fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin sheet which has no warpage, higher fiber orientation or randomized fiber orientation, manufactured by supplying a dispersion containing reinforcing fibers and a thermoplastic resin from an inlet onto a moving endless mesh belt and by continuously forming a web in the shape of a sheet while subjecting the dispersion to suction and filtration, is disclosed. The method and apparatus of manufacturing the same by means of controlling the speed ratio and the distribution of the suction amount of the aqueous medium are also disclosed.
Abstract: An alloy of Al and two or more of Ca, Mg and REM is added as a deoxidizing agent to molten steel, and the amount of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 in the resulting inclusion is adjusted to a range of 30-85 wt % to obtain an alumina cluster-free Al-killed steel.
Abstract: A polyamide resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polyamide resin, from 0.01 to 100 parts by weight of a liquid-crystalline resin, and from 0.01 to 5 parts by weight of an acid anhydride all the time has good fluidity even when it is left for a relatively long period of residence time in a cylinder of a molding machine while it is molded, and has good moldability. The amount of cushion resin needed for molding the composition fluctuates little, and the failure such as cobwebbing in molding the composition is reduced. The moldings of the composition have good impact resistance and good outward appearance. The composition is most suitable to producing box-type moldings with thin-wall parts.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a carbon fiber prepreg. The carbon fiber prepreg of the present invention is characterized in that a carbon fiber bundle comprising a plurality of continuous carbon filaments and having a hook drop value of 10 cm or more as the degree of fiber entanglement is impregnated with a base resin mainly composed of a thermosetting resin, and that particles of 150 .mu.m or less in particle size made of a thermoplastic resin account for 20 wt % or less based on the weight of the entire prepreg and distributed at a higher concentration in the surface zone than in the inside. The carbon fiber prepreg of the present invention is good in tackiness and less changing in tackiness with the lapse of time, and can form a composite with an excellent compression interlaminar shear strength (CILS) at high temperature after moisture absorption while maintaining good impact resistance.
Abstract: A method for storing a polyester film for a magnetic recording medium, characterized in that a polyester film for a magnetic recording medium with a surface roughness Ra of 6 nm or less on the surface A on one side is stored substantially in a storing atmosphere having a storing temperature kept in a range from 10.degree. C. to 35.degree. C. The polyester film stored according to this storing method is used as a base film for producing magnetic tapes.
Abstract: Titanium killed steel sheets which are not troubled by nozzle clogging while they are produced in a continuous casting process, have few surface defects caused by cluster-type inclusions, and are highly rust resistant, and are formed from a melt of titanium killed steel that contains any one or two of Ca and metals REM in an amount of not smaller than 0.0005% by weight, and wherein the steel contains major oxide inclusions of any one or two of CaO and REM oxides in an amount of from about 5 to 50% by weight, Ti oxides in an amount of not larger than about 90% by weight, and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 in an amount of not larger than about 70% by weight.
Abstract: The present invention provides a ferritic stainless steel plate improved in the deep drawability and the anti-ridging property at deep drawing work and the production technique thereof. The practical construction of the present invention is a ferritic stainless steel plate containing from 0.001 to 0.015 wt. % C, not more than 1.0 wt. % Si, not more than 1.0 wt. % Mn, not more than 0.05 wt. % P, not more than 0.010 wt. % S, from 8 to 30 wt. % Cr, not more than 0.08 wt. % Al, from 0.005 to 0.015 wt. % N, not more than 0.0080 wt. % O, not more than 0.25 wt. % Ti with Ti/N.gtoreq.12, and from 0.05 to 0.10 wt. % (Nb+V) with V/Nb being from 2 to 5, and, if necessary, further containing one or more kinds selected from not more than 2.0 wt. % Mo, not more than 1.0 wt. % Ni, and not more than 1.0 wt. % Cu together with one or more kinds selected from from 0.0005 to 0.0030 wt. % B, from 0.0007 to 0.0030 wt. % Ca and from 0.0005 to 0.0030 wt. % Mg.
Abstract: Grain-oriented electrical steel sheet having excellent magnetic characteristics in which shearing angles of grain directions [001] of secondary recrystallized grains from a rolling direction have an average value of about 4.degree. or less, wherein the area % of secondary recrystallized grains having a length of about 60 mm or more in the rolling-orthogonal direction is about 85% or more; with respect to recrystallized micro grains, the area % of crystal grains having a grain diameter of 2 to 20 mm is about 0.2% or more and about 10% or less; and the average value of angles formed with the steel sheet surface by grain directions [001] is about 1.5.degree. or more and about 5.0.degree. or less; in a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet of a high magnetic flux density (B.sub.8 .gtoreq.1.96 T) low iron loss is achieved without providing magnetic domain-refining treatment, very low iron loss value by forming grooves on the steel sheet surface, smoothening the steel sheet surface or a combination thereof.
Abstract: An earthquake resistant structure for mounting on a base having a limited available surface has an upper bearing and a lower bearing compactly arranged, one with a convex surface and the other with a concave surface, in contact with each other to transmit load between a bridge and a supporting pier, for example, the bearings being slidable relative to each other; a pin is provided for fixing the upper and lower bearings and an extraction preventing member prevents the bearings from separating from each other; a seal member is disposed between the upper bearing and the lower bearing; and a dust prevention and anti-corrosion cover are provided to assure long-time use.
