  • Patent number: 4570749
Abstract: A portable suspended scaffold utilizes a carriage having circumferentially grooved rollers which engage upturned flanges on a set of purlins. A suspension structure depends from the carriage such that workers may affix overhead fixtures such as roof panels to the purlins above the scaffold. The scaffold utilizes a plurality of platform elements which are removably carried by the suspension structure such that the scaffold may be manually propelled along the length of the purlin without having the workers thereon dismount.

  • Patent number: 4569264
Abstract: An outside-in tow cutter having a horizontal axis of rotation for its cutter reel assembly which includes an inner plate and an outer ring carrying radially disposed cutter blades, the outer ring having an inner diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the circle formed by the cutting edges of the blades. The outer ring also carries an annular lip which cooperates with a snug fitting discharge hooper so that a subatmospheric pressure may be induced within said reel and said discharge housing to facilitate the removal of cut tow therefrom and to provide for pneumatically drawing the uncut tow onto the cutter reel assembly via an inlet housing.

  • Patent number: 4566308
Abstract: A gas pressure gauge tester utilizes the pressure equalization perforations in the face of a gas pressure gauge to introduce pressurized gas into the gauge to counterbalance the gas pressure exerted on the gauge from the gas within a storage cylinder associated therewith. The gas pressure gauge to be tested is captured within a bracket which has integrated thereto a conduit connector cooperatively positioned to seal the pressure equalization perforations such that gases may be introduced thereto from a regulated supply of pressurized gas in order to counterbalance the internal pressure of the cylinder associated with the gauge. The amount of pressurization necessary to counterbalance the gas pressure is indicative of both the operability of the gauge and the state of charge of the associated cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4563826
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing ballast from beneath railroad tracks utilizes a horizontal undercutter disposed beneath the track to remove the ballast therefrom into a trench excavated by a cooperatively mounted trencher wheel. A horizontally disposed conveyor is located in the trench rearwardly of and adjacent the trench wheel to receive the ballast from the undercutter and to transport the ballast to the trencher wheel for removal thereby.

  • Patent number: 4563794
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved roller gin having means for cleaning debris from the knife, and a process of operating such gin. Specifically, the gin includes means to rotate the roll in reverse, periodically, if desired, whereby any cotton, leaf, or other trash draped over the knife is thrown off or discharged from the gin. Means also is disclosed to operate the gin and its feeder in a fashion to gin all cotton enroute from the feeder to the gin prior to the gin going through its cleaning operation.

  • Patent number: 4550657
Abstract: A baling chamber for a fiber press utilizing rigid upright doors pivotally mounted along their lower portions to contain fibers compressed thereinto by a moving platen. The doors separate slightly at the upper portion thereof responsive to the final compression of the bale thereby reducing the lateral pressure on the bale. One of the doors has rollers thereon to cooperatively engage a track parallel therewith such that the door may be displaced for removal of the bale.

  • Patent number: 4550519
Abstract: A fishing rod holder with automatic hook setter embodies a supporting frame having a rod holder operatively connected thereto and adapted for vertical pivotal movement. One end of a trigger rod is pivotally connected to the supporting frame with the other end of the trigger rod extending forwardly beneath a fishing rod supported by the rod holder. A fishing rod support member is carried by the forward end of the trigger rod and is movable therewith selectively to a lower inoperative position and to an upper operative, hook setting position. One end of a jerk rod is pivotally connected to the supporting frame. The other end of the jerk rod extends forwardly and is urged upwardly toward the trigger rod by a resilient member.

  • Patent number: 4547115
Abstract: Panel-like members are aligned as they are transferred sequentially from a pick-up station to a discharge station by a primary carriage mounted for linear movement selectively to the pick-up position and to a position adjacent the discharge station. At least one extensible, secondary carriage is carried by the primary carriage and is rotatable about a vertical axis selectively to a transport position and to an aligned position and is movable linearly to an extended position and to a retracted position. The secondary carriage and a pick-up head carried thereby is movable selectively to an upper transport position and to a lower pick-up and discharge position. Linear movement of the primary carriage is stopped prior to its reaching the discharge station with the secondary carriage being movable toward an extended position after movement of the primary carriage is stopped.
