Abstract: A belt placer is provided for positioning the belt portion of a vehicle safety belt system and includes a drive apparatus and an engagement component that is drivably movable by the drive apparatus into engagement with a respective one of the belt and the closure tongue arranged on the belt. The engagement component positions the belt in a ready position relative to the vehicle occupant in which the belt is positioned for buckling and the engagement component being returned into its resting position in connection with buckling or unbuckling of the belt. The drive apparatus includes a feed roller and a flexible push- and pull-device in the form of a bending-resistant band which is brought from the flat disposition in which it is wound around the feed roller into an arched or cambered position around its longitudinal axis as it is unwound from the feed roller.

Abstract: A guitar bridge is provided which is mounted on a sounding board of a guitar body. In the bridge, a saddle-mounting region, on which a saddle for seating the guitar strings thereon is mounted, is formed to be thicker than the other portions around the saddle-mounting region. By lowering the height of the surrounding portions of the saddle-mounting region, the natural vibration of the sounding board of the guitar body is not impeded and simultaneously the guitar sound is improved owing to close adherence of the guitar strings to the saddle. The height of the bridge can be easily lowered when necessary because the interval between the guitar strings and the outer face of the neck has been widened because of use of the guitar for a long time, thereby causing trouble in playing the guitar. The external appearance of the guitar is visually improved because the guitar bridge is formed in three dimensions, and horizontal movement of the guitar strings on the bridge is prevented.

Abstract: The invention relates to structural components for the boiler zone of power plants or refuse incineration plants, especially tubes or nests of tubes, fin and diaphragm walls, that consist of steel or steel alloys, and is characterized by a continuous closed outer nickel or nickel alloy layer galvanically deposited having a layer thickness of approximately 1 to 5 mm, preferably 1 to 2.5 mm.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for joining together at least two substrates, each of which has an inner hole. The apparatus has a pin that is adapted to the inner holes of the substrates. The pin is provided with at least two noses that are movable radially relative to the pin. The noses have linear outer surfaces upon which the edges of the inner holes of the substrates can glide downwardly during movement of the noses toward the pin.

Abstract: Supplementary control valve devices (26) may be utilized to control the flow of a fluid within an intake passage (16) of a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine and may include a valve member (56) axially reciprocally disposed within the intake passage and at least partially defining a solenoid armature (60). First and second solenoids (38, 50) are provided on opposite sides of the solenoid armature to reciprocally move the valve member between a valve open position and a valve closed position. Sealing contact faces are preferably defined by pole faces (68, 70) of the second solenoid and a peripheral fluid flow passage (34) extends through apertures (46) defined within the second solenoid and between the sealing contact faces. The valve member closes the peripheral fluid flow passage when pressed against the sealing contact faces. Springs (62, 64) preferably bias the valve member towards a central position between the first and second solenoids.

Abstract: A method for the liquid cleaning of objects via a cleaning liquid that contains at least two components that under first designated conditions form a mixture and under second designated conditions form a solubility gap, contains the following steps: establishing the first designated conditions, liquid cleaning the objects with the cleaning liquid that is under the first designated conditions, establishing the second designated conditions, and at least partially separating the contaminations from the liquid under the second designated conditions.

Abstract: A shutoff device is provided for pulverized coal burners of a pulverized coal furnace. Each burner has a primary tube that conveys a pulverized coal/air mixture and is connected with a feed line for supplying the mixture to the respective burner. Disposed in the feed line, for closing off the same, is a slide valve that is provided with a valve plate. On the trailing side of the slide valve, the feed line is surrounded by an air receiver that is supplied with air. In the vicinity of the air receiver, an opening is provided in the wall of the feed line and can be closed off by a closure plate, which is synchronously actuatable with the slide valve such that in the closed position of the slide valve the opening is opened, and in the open position of the slide valve the opening is closed off.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for generating defect profiles in a crystal or crystalline structure of a substrate, preferably a semiconductor, during a thermal treatment in a process chamber. According to the inventive method, a concentration and/or a density distribution of defects is controlled with at least one reactive component each depending on at least two process gases that differ in their composition. At least two of the process gases independently act upon at least two different surfaces of the substrate.

Abstract: A seating unit in a combat vehicle that is protected against mines is provided. The vehicle has a hull that is disposed on the chassis and that has at least one hatch in its roof plate that can be closed off by a hatch cover. The seating unit, which is disposed in the hull in the region below the hatch, is provided with a base on which is disposed a seat and that is suspended on the front or side wall and/or the roof plate of the hull via a tubular construction in such a way that the base is not at less than a prescribed spacing relative to the base of the hull. The tubular construction can comprise two guide tubes that extend parallel to one another and upwardly at an angle. The upper ends of the tubes are connected with the front wall, and the lower ends are suspended on the roof plate via connecting tubes. The base is displaceably disposed on the guide tubes via holding devices.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for monitoring the quality of lubricant that is in a gear mechanism or machine that contains effective materials. A sample of the lubricant or of the vapor that escapes from the lubricant is withdrawn from the gear mechanism or machine. The sample is conveyed to an ion mobility spectrometer, where materials present in the vapor phase above the lubricant are analyzed. The change of the content and of the type of the analyzed materials in the sample is utilized as the actual condition for the aging of the lubricant.

Abstract: The invention relates to a belt buckle, comprising two buckle members fastened on belt ends, the first (1) of said members having a receiving compartment (6) in which the second buckle member (2) is axially inserted. Said second buckle member comprises snap-fit members that are adjusted against a spring force and that interact with undercuts in the first buckle member to secure the fitted buckle members (1,2). The inventive belt buckle is further characterized in that the buckle members consist of cast metal and that the snap-fit members are impinged upon by at least one mechanical return spring.

Abstract: An escalator or moving step assembly includes a control unit, a plurality of input/output units each for providing data concerning a respective one of a location and a function of the escalator, and a standard bus system. The input/output units are connected to the standard bus system for communicating therewith. The escalator also includes a plurality of security position switches each having at least one opening contact and a plurality of security slaves each associated with a respective one of the security position switches and being communicated with the standard bus system. A security monitor communicated with the standard bus system and operating in cooperation with the security slaves initiates an intervention in the operation of the escalator in the event that an opening contact of a security slave is opened.

Abstract: The invention relates to an autostereoscopic method and a device for the three-dimensional representation of information according to a barrier-, lenticular-, prismatic mask-, or similar method using flat-panel displays (liquid crystal-, plasma-, electroluminescent- or other displays) for use in the computer and video technology, games and advertising, medical engineering, virtual reality applications, and other fields. According to the invention, the image points are proportionally tracked to lateral movement of the observer by shifting, for each colored subpixel, of the intensities of the colored subpixels to horizontally adjacent colored subpixels. The method can be used with known devices. It becomes especially useful when, for each image point, n+1 adjacent colored subpixels are addressed. Observers moving sideways continue to see the image in practically consistently high quality.

Abstract: An implement is provided having a motor housing in which is disposed an internal combustion engine as a drive for a tool. The implement also includes a carburetor and an air filter. An air filter chamber is provided with a cover element that includes two cover portions, a first cover portion of which extends over the air filter chamber, and a second cover portion of which extends over a ventilated hollow space of the motor housing that is adjacent to the air filter chamber. At least one in-flow passage for the combustion air is provided and in the first cover portion opens into the air filter chamber. At least one further passage is provided for connecting the hollow space with the in-flow passage.
