  • Patent number: 7917359
Abstract: A noise suppressor detects a peak position in the frequency spectrum of an input speech signal, and masks frequency components in the spectrum as a function of the peak position. The masking process attenuates or removes frequency components near the peak position if their magnitudes are significantly lower than the magnitude of the spectrum at the peak position. This noise suppressor effectively removes irregular noise from the spectrum while leaving enough of the spectrum to reproduce the speech signal clearly.

  • Patent number: 7917040
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a wavelength tuning of an optical source in an optical communication system. An operating temperature of an optical source is controlled and monitored to shorten a wavelength tuning time of the optical source generated in an optical source generator. When the current operating temperature reaches a final target temperature, an operating current is supplied to the optical source generator, and transmission of the operating current to the optical source generator is controlled and monitored. When the operating current reaches a final operating current, the wavelength tuning of the optical source is terminated. The operating temperature is adjusted by distinguishing between a smaller amount of temperature change and a larger amount of temperature change to prevent oscillation at the point of reaching the final target temperature, thereby minimizing the time taken for the output wavelength tuning.

  • Patent number: 7916017
Abstract: Provided is a wireless sensor network operating method considering energy efficiency. The method for operating a wireless sensor network including clusters of sensor nodes includes: selecting a cluster head based on residual energy amounts of the sensor nodes by increasing a probability that a sensor node with a greater amount of residual energy than the others is selected as a cluster head; transmitting an advertisement message from the selected cluster head to the sensor nodes to form a cluster; and transmitting sensing data acquired in each sensor node to the cluster head. Accordingly, this method can extend lifespan of sensor nodes by not transmitting/receiving data on residual energy amounts and positions between sensor nodes, and increase the entire lifespan of a wireless sensor network by reducing a probability that a sensor node having a relatively small residual energy amount is selected as a cluster head consuming much energy.

  • Patent number: 7911947
Abstract: A gateway apparatus relays a data packet only when a network that is connected to the gateway apparatus itself is identical to a network that is connected to a node associated with a sender's address. The sender's address is carried in the data packet received. Even if there are accesses from a plurality of nodes to a certain node (e.g., sensor node), the gateway apparatus can relay the data packet such that data retrieval takes place appropriately and/or such that node control takes place appropriately.

  • Patent number: 7907031
Abstract: A transit structure of a standard waveguide and a dielectric waveguide is related to connecting the dielectric dielectric waveguide to the standard waveguide. The transit structure includes: a cavity to match the dielectric waveguide and the standard waveguide, wherein the dielectric waveguide and the standard waveguide are orthogonal to each other to connect. The transit structure drastically reduces a design time by simply implementing a transit structure by using only a dielectric waveguide, a cavity and a standard waveguide on a dielectric substrate and remarkably reduces a size thereof in comparison with a conventional transit structure since all designs are finished in the size of a metal waveguide.

  • Patent number: 7908666
Abstract: When a user wishes to play purchased content data by a playing terminal, a registration database server authenticates a user ID. Furthermore, when the playing terminal requests a content server to establish communication, the content server authenticates the playing terminal to thereby establish communication only with the playing terminal of which the user ID authentication and terminal authentication are correct. Consequently, the content data is prevented from being copied to another playing terminal which is owned by a third party, and thus the copyright of the content data can be protected.
