Abstract: An ice blade assembly includes a hollow base frame including an upper wall with two sides, a side wall extending downward from each side of the upper wall, and a pair of spaced retaining ribs projecting downward from an underside of the upper wall and extending toward each other, defining a space therebetween. Each side wall includes an upper section and a lower section, the upper sections being dimensioned to be securely received in a space defined by two parallel mounting ribs extending from an underside of an upper structure of a skate, the lower sections defining a passage in alignment with the space. An ice blade passes through the passage, with an upper edge thereof securely mounted between the retaining ribs and with a mediate section thereof retained between the passage.
Abstract: A method of geochemical prospecting where samples of soil, sediment and rock in a geological area are collected and each sample is contacted with a leach solution of water, glucose and glucose oxidase. The oxidase acts upon the glucose to produce gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The leach solution reacts with manganese dioxide carrying trace metal elements and compounds in the samples to produce a leach reaction solution. The leach reaction solution and the residue of the said sample are separated, and the leach reaction solution is analyzed to determine the trace metal content present. From the analysis, the mineral content of the geological area is predicted.
Abstract: A modular connector (20) for separably joining two modular pressure fluid components (21, 22) such as filters, regulators, lubricators, dryers, drains, manifolds, unions, and the like. The connector (20) utilizes a modular arrangement of a joining block (24) and mounting slides (25) on each pressure fluid component (21, 22), with tracks or guide rails (44) on the block (24) engagable in grooves (48) on the mounting slides (25) to provide a slide fit between the connector (20) and the components (21, 22) with mating wedge or cam elements providing a tight sealing engagement therebetween. The components can be positioned from either side, left or right-handed, of the connector. Adjoining sealing surfaces (26, 28) on the components and connector are clamped tightly together in sealed relation by the wedge or cam members, and O-ring seals (29) are utilized to provide a fluid tight seal between the sealing surfaces.
Abstract: A magnetic-resistance control device for an exercise bicycle includes a platform connected with a base. A flywheel axle is rotatably mounted above the platform and is engaged with a rear wheel of the bicycle to rotate in an opposite direction thereof. A flywheel is made of magnetism-conducting material and is mounted to the flywheel axle for rotating therewith. A bracket is mounted on the platform. A U-shaped permanent magnet is slidably engaged on the bracket and defines an opening in which the flywheel is partly enclosed. The flywheel interacts with magnetic flux generated by the magnet when rotated such that a magnetic force is exerted on the flywheel, thereby generating a resistance to the flywheel. A driving device is provided for driving the magnet to reciprocate relative to the flywheel.
Abstract: A method for precipitating atmospheric water by means of multicomponent aerosols, including iodide based complex multicomponent aerosol compositions. The compositions comprise a solid mass formed by a compacted mixture of silver iodide and the iodides, iodates, and periodates of alkali metals, lead, copper, barium; ammonia, barium chromate, and selected oxidizers such as ammonium perchlorate, and fuels such as poly-p-phenylene, phenol formaldehyde resin, epoxide resin, and shellac and mixtures thereof. The compositions, upon burning, produce an aerosol effective to promote atmospheric water precipitation.
Abstract: An in-line roller skate which includes a base, a front brake assembly mounted on a front wheel assembly, and a rear brake assembly mounted on a rear wheel assembly. The front and rear brake assemblies are respectively mounted to the front and rear of the bottom of the base. The front wheel assembly includes a bridge member having first and second forked ends to which wheels are mounted and a mediate portion for mounting the front brake assembly. The mediate portion includes a receiving compartment for receiving the lower part of the front brake assembly. The compartment is designed to allow pivotal movement of the front brake assembly in the compartment. The front brake assembly further has a brake member at a front end thereof to contact with the frontmost wheel of the roller skate when braking. Similarly, the rear brake assembly has a brake member at a rear end thereof to contact with the rearmost wheel of the roller skate when braking.
Abstract: An improved reduced fat peanut butter is obtained by removing oil from ground peanuts, preferably by centrifuging the ground peanuts until a supernatant oil layer is formed above the ground peanuts and separating the ground peanuts from the supernatant oil layer. The resulting peanut paste may then be reground. Maltodextrin and modified food starch are added to and blended with the peanut paste, either before or after the optional regrinding. Salt, butter flavoring and/or peanut flavoring may also be added to and blended with the separated peanuts, either before or after regrinding.

Abstract: A granular and liquid material spreading system mounted on a vehicle. Granular material is moved from a hopper to a delivery system using hydraulic pumps and motors. The hydraulic system also drives a liquid delivery system. A control system including a material computer is provided to control the amount of granular material and liquid material applied to a surface. The feed rate of liquid delivery is controlled electronically by programming the material computer as a function of the feed rate of the granular material. The liquid feed rate may be changed within a predetermined range. The level of liquid may be sensed to disengaged the liquid delivery system. Initiation of liquid delivery reduces the feed rate of granular material by a variably selected percentage.
Abstract: Apparatus for decontaminating a contaminated fluid by using photocatalytic particles. The apparatus includes a reactor tank for holding a slurry of the contaminated fluid and the photocatalytic particles ultraviolet light irradiates the surface of the slurry, thereby activating the photocatalytic properties of the particles. Stirring blades for continuously agitate the irradiated fluid surface maintaining the particles in a suspended state within the fluid. A cross flow filter is used for separating the fluid from the semiconductor powder after the decomposition reaction is ended. The cross flow filter is occasionally back flushed to remove any caked semiconductor powder. The semiconductor powder may be recirculated back to the tank for reuse, or may be stored for future use. A series of reactor tanks may be used to gradually decompose a chemical in the fluid. The fluid may be pretreated to remove certain metal ions which interfere with the photocatalytic process.
