  • Patent number: 7559542
Abstract: A gas spring for providing a smooth and generally gradual load distribution between interrelated parts of a press has a casing defining at least in part a gas chamber. A housing is received at least in part in the casing. The housing has a through bore sized for receipt of the piston rod therein for reciprocation between extended and retracted positions. A piston retainer is attached for conjoint movement with the piston rod. An end of the housing flexes between a compressed position when the piston retainer abuts the housing as the piston rod moves toward its extended position and an uncompressed position when the piston retainer moves toward its retracted position and out of engagement with the housing.

  • Patent number: 7520293
Abstract: A fuel storage system for a transportation or recreational vehicle has a fuel tank that carries a vapor assembly that seeks out vapor pockets and controllably removes fuel vapor from the tank without releasing hydrocarbons to the surrounding environment. Preferably, a vent manifold attaches to a flange that sealably covers an access hole of the tank. At least one flexible tentacle extends from the manifold in the tank to a respective vapor vent valve that floats upon the surface of fuel at a vapor dome. When freely floating, the vent valve is open thus communicates the vapor dome through the tentacle and preferably with a filtering carbon canister. As fuel surface levels change or the vehicle tilts, changing the vapor dome size or location in the tank, the floating vapor vent valve is free to move generally with the vapor dome and as permitted by the flexibility of the trailing tentacle.

  • Patent number: 7510143
Abstract: An aircraft is provided with a wing assembly mounted in a slipstream of a source of propulsion of the aircraft. The aircraft includes a body having a longitudinal axis, a wing assembly carried by the body and including a moveable portion moveable relative to the body and a wing carried by the moveable portion. A first actuator is coupled to the moveable portion to move it relative to the body in a direction generally parallel to the axis of the body. A second actuator is coupled to the wing to move the wing relative to the moveable portion and between first and second positions. The second actuator at least selectively permits uninhibited pivoted movement of the wing relative to the body in response to aerodynamic forces acting on the wing so that the wing may pivot to a position wherein the forces acting on the wing are balanced.

  • Patent number: 7475678
Abstract: A fuel delivery system for a combustion engine has a fuel tank which defines an access hole preferably communicating through either the top wall or bottom wall of the tank. An associated top or bottom flange, both having a fuel channel for flowing fuel out of the tank, sealably covers the access hole. A fuel pump module is located in the fuel chamber of the tank and has a universal, structural, pod which engages either the top or bottom flange while preferably maintaining an axial upright position. The pod defines an axially extending first bore for housing a fuel pump and preferably an electric pump motor and a second bore defined by a cylindrical inner face and spaced radially outward from the first chamber for housing a reversible filter cartridge of the module. The pod also has a fuel discharge nozzle which generally defines a counter bore that communicates axially with the second bore.

  • Patent number: 7475919
Abstract: A pipe clamp which includes an open band of metal, a pair of opposed flanges located at the open ends of the band, and a tightening mechanism for drawing the flanges together. Each flange extends radially from a body portion of the band to a loop formed by a portion of the band material folded back onto itself. The flanges each have an aperture at a location intermediate the loop and the body portion to accept a fastener for tightening of the band. The loops are disposed adjacent each other such that the flanges are separated by a gap that is greater at the apertures than at the loops. One or both of the flanges can have a slot that extends into the body portion of the band so that the slotted flange comprises two flange portions that can be tightened somewhat independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 7475871
Abstract: A rotary throttle valve carburetor has a start assist device with an operating member that interacts with a throttle lever of the throttle valve to axially displace the throttle valve, preferably without rotating it. The operating member may be rotated and moved linearly for selective engagement with the throttle lever by any one of a plurality of starting features generally spaced circumferentially about the operating member. Preferably, each starting feature has a face that faces axially outward with respect to the rotary axis and when in contact with the throttle lever. Each face is spaced at a different distance from the operating member axis thus selection of each will cause the operating member to contact and move the throttle lever a different distance. The different distances correspond to varying fuel enrichments that may be associated with different temperatures of an engine to be started.
