Abstract: A housing for a fuel pressure regulator includes a body having a fuel inlet, a fuel outlet, a plurality of retention members, a bypass fitting, and preferably an electrical fitting and a ground fitting. Each retention member includes a catch that is constructed to engage and securely hold the fuel pressure regulator in the housing, while the fuel inlet, the fuel outlet and the bypass passage permit fuel routing as pressurized fuel passes through the fuel pressure regulator. The regulator housing preferably is made of an electrostatic charge dissipative material and is formed in one piece using a single manufacturing process such as injection molding.
Abstract: A polishing disk for a tool for the fine machining of optically active surfaces on spectacle lenses in particular is disclosed, which comprises a support body, to which a foam layer is attached, wherein a polishing film bears against the foam layer. The polishing film is provided with at least one opening in a central region. During machining, the opening ensures pressure equalization and makes liquid polishing agent available from inside the foam layer, as a result of which better rinsing and cooling of otherwise disadvantaged regions of the polishing disk is achieved. As a result, a polishing disk of simple and cost-effective design is proposed, which is much more durable than the prior art while achieving high surface qualities.
Abstract: A lathe for machining optical workpieces, in particular spectacle lenses, comprises a fast tool arrangement and a workpiece spindle arrangement. A machine frame is cast monolithically from polymer concrete and on and in which all the functional surfaces, functional spaces and other cutouts are formed to their exact dimensions during the casting process. The machine frame upper part cast in one piece simultaneously covers the fast tool arrangement and the workpiece spindle arrangement and thus the machine bed in the manner of a covering hood. The machine frame is of compact dimensions, has a very rigid oscillation-damping machine bed and, in comparison with the rapidly moving elements of the fast tool arrangement, has a very large mass with a high center of gravity, which prevents the transmission of disruptive oscillations from the fast tool movement to the machine bed and thus to the workpiece spindle arrangement.
Abstract: A pull-starter for a combustion engine of an engine-powered apparatus having a startup element automatically actuated upon initial pulling of a pull-cord. The pull-cord is attached to and wound around a recoil pulley, routed at least partially around a portion of a movable dampener member, and attached to a handle. The dampener member is biased toward a rest position and a portion thereof is linked to the startup element. The pull-cord is pulled to displace the dampener member away from its rest position, automatically actuate the at least one startup element, and unwind the pull-cord from around the recoil pulley and thereby rotate the recoil pulley in an unwind direction to rotate a crankshaft of the engine via a coupling. At least upon release of the pull-cord, the dampener member and the startup element automatically return to their normal state during engine operation.

The current pulses have a substantially rectangular waveform with a trailing edge produced by an arc discharge current when the switch is opened.
Abstract: Methods and fuel systems to reduce evaporative emissions of a volatile fuel. A fuel tank contains fuel, a carburetor mixes air with the fuel from the fuel tank, and a plurality of fluid paths route fuel amongst and/or between the fuel tank and the carburetor. A valve actuation device stops flow of fuel in one or more of the plurality of fluid paths and the carburetor is adapted to be drained of fuel during engine shutdown to reduce or prevent evaporative emissions from the fuel system. The carburetor is preferably designed so as to minimize a volume of fuel contained therein.
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus is provided for cleaning an inner surface of a container. A spray head is arranged for operable fluid communication with a fluid pump and has a nozzle configured to disperse liquid in a mist. A mount carries the spray head and is removably supportable on a container having an inner surface to be cleaned. When removably supported on a container, the mount supports the spray head in a position within the container where the spray head can coat the inner surface of the container with mist.
Abstract: An engine carburetor and a solenoid valve assembly therefor and methods of assembling the same. The carburetor has a body with a fuel and air mixing passage communicating with an air bleed passage. A cavity extends into the body for communication with the air bleed passage. A solenoid housing is received in the cavity and maintains a coil body for receipt of a valve body therein. The valve body moves between a retracted position to substantially open the air bleed passage and an extended position to substantially close the air bleed passage.
Abstract: A compact engine start device of a combustion engine rotary-type carburetor overrides normal operation of a rotary throttle valve to provide a richer mixture of fuel-and-air to start a cold engine. Rotation of a start lever of the start device activates a releasable camming interface coupler causing the throttle lever to rotate about a rotary axis and axially lift partially out of the carburetor at prescribed angular and axial distances. This provides the engine, through a fuel-and-air mixing passage, with a controlled and enriched ratio and volume of a fuel-and-air mixture. Preferably, the start lever has a projecting rod that inserts into a hole in the carburetor body for rotation about an axis orientated substantially parallel to the rotary axis.
Abstract: Yarn is disclosed including textile fibers and metallic fibers. The textile fibers are either natural or artificial fibers. The cut length of the textile fibers is between 50 and 100 millimeters. The metallic fibers are fabricated from Group VIII metals or their alloys. In addition, the metallic fibers have a cut length measuring between 20 and 80 millimeters.
Abstract: A power sanding machine (10) has three circumferentially spaced cogged belts (40) to drive three discs (52) rotatably mounted to an inner bowl (30) which is rotatably mounted to a housing (12), which in turn is connected to an operating handle (14). Mechanical lock can rotationally affix the inner bowl (30) to the housing to circumferentially position a pulley at the left or right edge (326, 322) of the sanding machine or at the front end (330) of the sanding machine. Power cleaning and sanding machines (412, 500, 600) incorporate the three disc (52) arrangement or a direct-drive one disc arrangement (572, 672). The machines (412, 500, 600) include multiple floor finishing units (420, 514, 614) ganged together in unique arrangements.
Abstract: A tote for carrying electric meters includes a lid section having a hinged connection to a base section for pivotal movement between open and closed positions, and a latching system releasably securing the lid and base sections together. Each of the sections is provided with a plurality of cavities. When the lid section is closed, the cavities in the lid section confront the cavities in the base section to provide a plurality of pockets. Each pocket is adapted to receive and locate one of the meters. The sections may be separable from one another. The hinged connection permits the lid section to be raised to clear the meters prior to being pivoted open. The cavities in the two sections may be formed by panel inserts which are removable for replacement by other panel inserts adapted to accommodate larger or smaller meters.
Abstract: A coupler for use in joining two pipes in a butt joint. The coupler includes a band clamp and a split sealing sleeve disposed inside the band clamp for encircling the abutted ends of the pipes. The split sealing sleeve has a tongue-and-groove sealing joint at the confronting free ends of the sleeve. The sealing joint has a member at the mating edges to provide a resilient interference fit of the tongue-and-groove.
Abstract: A controlled slow down apparatus and method for use in the event that a light-duty combustion engine has entered a state of excessive speeds or auto-ignition. The controlled slow down method is preferably initiated when the engine speed exceeds an activation speed for a predetermined number of engine revolutions. Once initiated, the controlled slow down method uses a combination of ignition timing and spark ratio manipulations in order to disrupt the auto-ignition conditions and slow down the engine in a controlled manner. Preferably, the controlled slow down method is only one part of an overall ignition control method, and can be incorporated within or utilized by one of a number of different ignition timing methods known in the art.

Abstract: A pipe lap joint for use with vehicle exhaust systems which includes an inside pipe end telescopically inserted into an outside pipe end with the pipe ends secured together by a band clamp. The outside pipe end includes a sealing zone having a collapsible sealing slot that enables the outside pipe end to be drawn tight over the outside surface of the inside pipe end via the band clamp to thereby provide a fluid-tight seal between the pipes. The sealing slot extends from an open end of the outside pipe end and includes a pair of opposing sidewalls each having a tooth and recess. As the band clamp is tightened, the sealing slot collapses such that the teeth of the sidewalls move into the opposing, complementarily-shaped recesses, while adjoining circumferential edges of the teeth engage each other to thereby form a fluid seal.
