  • Patent number: 8181952
Abstract: A paper sheet handling mechanism and method includes a loop-shaped part configured to hold a paper sheet (W1). Once a paper sheet (W2) present on the upstream side of a transport path relative to the loop-shaped part is fed to the loop-shaped part, the paper sheet (W2) present on the upstream side and the paper sheet (W1) present on the loop-shaped part are respectively moved, such that the paper sheet (W2) can be stacked with paper sheet (W1) circulated along the loop-shaped part. A paper sheet length detector determines whether the length of the paper sheet (W2) in the transport direction, which is fed to the loop-shaped part from the upstream side relative to the loop-shaped part along the transport path, is longer than a predetermined length. If the length is longer than the predetermined length, the paper sheet (W2) is ejected from the loop-shaped part.

  • Patent number: 8179229
Abstract: An operator system provides a mobile transmitter configured to communicate with a base operator to automatically open and close an access barrier based on the position of a carrying device that maintains the mobile transmitter. The mobile transmitter periodically transmits a mobile open signal as it moves away from the reception range of the base operator until that signal is lost. When the base operator again receives the open signal, the access barrier is automatically opened. In addition, the mobile transmitter is configured to monitor the change in position of the carrying device as it moves away from the enclosure. When the angular and/or linear position of the carrying device changes by an amount greater than a predetermined threshold, the mobile transmitter automatically transmits a mobile close signal to the base operator to close the access barrier.

  • Patent number: 8173024
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conducting supercritical wet oxidation reactions wherein any precipitated solids do not contact the solid side walls of the containment vessel so as to prevent any of these precipitated solids from adhering to or corrode the vessel walls is provided. To do this, a controlled, continuous flow of clean fluid, preferably under supercritical conditions, is introduced to the process so as to form a film-like, clean fluid surface between the physical containment vessel walls and the supercritical wet oxidation reactants.

  • Patent number: 8169554
Abstract: A projection display apparatus has a beam controller provided on the optical axis of an optically-modulated linearly-polarized beam, to allow the beam to travel therethrough to reach a screen or cut off the beam, under control by a control signal. The controller, has driving zones on which the beam is incident. The zones are provided in a direction corresponding to a vertical scanning direction of pixels of a liquid crystal display device installed in the display apparatus, for optically modulating a linearly polarized beam. The controller is driven per driving zone in a specific zone order at a timing of vertical scanning of the pixels under control by the control signal generated based on a vertical synchronization signal detected from the input signal. The optically modulated beam is allowed to travel through the controller or cut off when incident on the zones at the timing of the vertical scanning.
