  • Patent number: 6302712
Abstract: An automotive spark plug ignition wire conduit having an insulating terminal cap of a flexible, compressible moisture proof insulating material of a generally annular cross-section, a first open end for receiving an insulated electrical ignited wire, a second open end adapted to be placed over a spark plug wire terminal and retained thereon, wherein the cap has an annular recess formed in the external surface of the cap, and a groove adapted to receive a fastening strap to be tightened about the cap and retained in the recess. In an alternate embodiment, a cap includes molded internal grooves having a spring wire molded therein gripping a spark plug. The device keeps ignition wires from becoming disconnected due to engine and road vibrations. It is especially useful in racing environments.

  • Patent number: 6295885
Abstract: A manual automobile transmission includes a non-rotating reverse gear having an internal spline in the front portion of the reverse gear and a needle roller bearing mounted at the rear portion. The bearing supports the gear and allows the main shaft to rotate without the gear turning when the transmission is not in the reverse mode. A separate splined collar is mounted on the shaft. Internal splines on the collar readily engage the splines on the main shaft and extended splines match the reverse gear splines. A small spring ball is inserted in the gear just forward of the splines to facilitate alignment of the gear and splined collar.

  • Patent number: 6280272
Abstract: A short motion swim fin used as training device for the improvement of the fast flutter kick motions of speed swimming and as such uses a flat flexible plate which is rigid across its base, and inner rubber sheath surrounding the plate and an outer sheath which varies in length depending upon the rigidity desired by thereby varying a projecting portion of the plate which contact the water. The plate functions as a lever on the underside of the foot to stretch the arch of the foot on every downward kick, as well as to strengthen the fast twitch leg muscles associated with a strong flutter kick.

  • Patent number: 6247608
Abstract: A beverage can lid comprises an outer peripheral groove adjacent the outer rim and an inner concentric groove separated therefrom by a dividing rim which is at a predetermined height relative to the outer rim. A center platform is connected to the dividing rim by walls which slope downwardly from said rim. The central pull tab area is approximately the same height as the height of the inner groove and is connected to the inner dividing rim at one end with an upwardly curving surface. The outer groove which may be shallow and permits entry of a crimping tool to mount the lid on a can is also easily cleaned to provide a sanitary can lid. The inner groove may be blocked in the pouring spout area to facilitate cleaning.

  • Patent number: 6244572
Abstract: A carburetor float bowl drain screw and recovery system includes a retaining screw having a threaded forward end, an intermediate portion having a plurality of transverse holes leading to an axial channel and an internally threaded end portion terminating in a hex head. An externally threaded insert engages the end portion and includes a tapered forward portion which engages tapered internal walls on the retaining screw to effect a seal, an internal channel and a hexagonal rear portion terminating in a cylindrical end for coupling a fuel line thereto. When the insert is loosened fuel flows through the holes in the screw into the screw channel and then outwardly through the insert channel to a fuel line. The fuel bowl may thus be safely drained.

  • Patent number: 6186689
Abstract: A cosmetic container comprises an insert which is preassembled to a brush by means of an undercut ring located beneath a brush flange and cooperating with an undercut recess in the throat of the insert. The insert walls are held by friction in the container and anchored externally to the container by a ring which extends peripherally from the threaded container wall. An undercut in the insert external flange engages the ring to complete the anchor. The insert is molded from polymer that repels the cosmetic product owing to molecular polarity. The insert functions as a sealing mechanism and a means to keep product from reaching the top of the container or on the container threads. The insert walls may also be shaped as a liquid inhibitor to retard flow from the container if the bottle is tipped over inadvertently.

  • Patent number: 6176866
Abstract: A scissor comprises a rigid blade with a fixed shape and an adjustable spring blade both pinned together at the end of the blade portions. The blades also comprise elongated leg portions extending outwardly from the junction with the blade portions and terminating in curved finger loops or a manipulating handle. The adjustable spring blade comprises a blade with spring like properties of the cutting edge which is continuously maintained in rotation around the fixed axis of the non-cutting edge of said rigid blade. When the scissors are open, the line of the cutting edge of the spring blade penetrates the plane of the opposing blade. This penetration stops when the scissors are closed. The rotation of the spring blade cutting edge may be clockwise or counter-clockwise but is always directed towards the sharp edge of the opposing blade of the scissors and thus continuously engages the sharp edge of the opposing blade at the cutting point.

  • Patent number: 6171274
Abstract: A biomechanical suit comprises a mini-shirt and shorts connected front and rear by suspenders. The shirt starts proximally from the level of cervical three vertebra (C-3) and extends down to the eighth thoracic vertebra (T8) and includes a zipper from T8-C3. Two spaced front suspenders are mounted to the lower edge of the shirt and are adjustably coupled to the shorts. The rear suspenders are attached proximally and distally a predetermined distance bilaterally from the vertebral column. The distal attachment is through a tensiometer which adjusts the tension to correct unusual kyphotic or scoliotic conditions.

  • Patent number: 6148452
Abstract: A system from converting a bathtub area into an enclosed substantially waterproof shower enclosure. Closure frames are mounted at each end of the shower curtain to engage retention frames mounted on opposed walls of the enclosure. Each end of the shower curtain is retained within a vertically disposed U-shaped channel having longitudinal ridges therein and a flexible rubber grommet spline or locking rod running lengthwise. The preferred material is rigid PVC. The edge of the shower curtain is rolled about the flexible spline which is then press filled into the U-shaped channel. The curtain is frictionally secured between the spline and the internal walls of the U-shaped channel.
