  • Patent number: 5682800
Abstract: A clutch driver device for releasing torque between a power drill and a screwdriver when the screw being driven reaches a predetermined depth. The clutch mechanism including a hollow release cylinder slideably fitted on a drive shaft integrally formed in coaxial relation with a chuck shank to be inserted into the chuck of a power drill. The release cylinder is movable from a first position where the release cylinder holds several clutch balls against planar faces of a hexagonal end of a drive shank used to drive the screw into the work piece to a second position where the release cylinder releases the clutch balls held against the planar faces of the drive shank so that the screw driving end of the driver is disengaged from the power drill. The release cylinder being moved from the first position to the second position by an actuator sleeve positioned between the work piece and the release cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5676711
Abstract: An improved process for producing a low-sulfur fuel oil or gas from used oil and finely divided coal. After mixing, the coal/oil slurry is heated within a pressure vessel to a temperature of approximately 850.degree. F. and the pressure increased to approximately 1500 psi for a time period of more than one hour. A gaseous low-sulfur diesel fuel can be recovered from near the top of the pressure vessel.

  • Patent number: 5615850
Abstract: An improved wire bracket for use in construction which can be used to hold and organize electrical wires within holes located in the bracket. The bracket has two separable portions with a breakaway line separating the two portions, each of the individual portions having holes formed therein through which wire is threaded. The bracket further having reinforced mounting flanges or plates oriented on each of the three axes of the bracket to provide flexibility in mounting the bracket on different construction members.

  • Patent number: 5599135
Abstract: An asphalt spreader for spreading asphalt into ruts in a roadway. The spreader includes a main blade that has wings on either end to keep asphalt before the blade. The blade also has a wedge-shaped center portion which diverts asphalt toward either side of the blade to direct more asphalt into the ruts. The vertical clearance of the wedge-shaped center portion can be separately adjusted so as to control the amount of asphalt that is laid down in the center portion between the ruts. In addition, the bottom surface of the blade is inclined rearwardly with respect to the blade to form an acute angle with the groundplane.

  • Patent number: 5579670
Abstract: An improved system and method for cutting a quilting piece from fabric, which quilting piece has a constant width sewing expanse around the exposed area of the quilting piece for sewing quilting pieces together. The system includes a template conforming to the shape of the exposed area of the quilting piece and a cutter guide having a rail positioned along one edge of the cutter guide. The width of the rail is selected to correspond to the desired sewing expanse. The template is first positioned on the fabric to be cut and a cutter guide is positioned on top of the template with the inner guide edge of the rail positioned in abutting relation with an edge of the template. The fabric is then cut with a cutter along an outside cutting edge of the rail of the cutter guide.

  • Patent number: 5567194
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-faceted nesting module for building complex geometric structures from a plurality of identical modules. A module includes a body shaped to have faces corresponding with the facial geometry of a three-dimensional lattice made up of tangent polyhedral cells. The module further includes appendages attached to the body and extending only into an adjacent cell of the lattice defined by the body. The appendages have at least one face corresponding with the facial geometry of the three-dimensional lattice but also have cut-away portions where the resulting faces do not interfere with the facial geometry of the three-dimensional lattice.

  • Patent number: 5507835
Abstract: A first embodiment of the present invention includes a magnetic weight bearing prosthetic socket system for coupling a prosthesis to an amputated limb. A pair of magnetic fixtures are used to hold the prosthesis in spaced apart relation with the amputated limb. One of the magnetic fixtures is implanted in the remnant bone and the other magnetic fixture is embedded in the prosthetic socket. The magnetic fixtures are magnetically oriented to oppose one another and are used to transfer loads associated with typical weight-bearing surfaces through the soft tissue covering the remnant bone without having the magnetic structures physically touch one another.A second embodiment of the present invention includes repelling magnetic fixtures implanted within opposing bones in an articulating joint to hold the bones apart during relative articulating movement of the bones in the joint.

  • Patent number: 5487498
Abstract: A back pack or fanny pack using a hip belt to secure the pack to a wearer's waist. This pack includes a padded lumbar pad positioned vertically along the lumbar region of a wearer's spine. The lumbar pad, which is constructed of flexible padding, is secured to the pack at an upper and lower surface of the lumbar pad. A padded hip belt is positioned between the lumbar pad and the pack. The hip belt is used to anchor a pair of straps, each connected to one end of a stay secured to the pack. The stay is positioned between the lumbar pad and the pack and extends across the wearer's back substantially parallel with the hip pad. When the straps are pulled taut about the body of a wearer, the stay is forced into the wearer's back causing the lumbar pad to be pressed into the lumbar region of the wearer to concentrate the weight of the pack at the lumbar region of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 5470180
Abstract: An improved two-ended reversible drill/driver tool for use with power drills. The tool having a hollow cylindrical socket that at one end has a drive shank for insertion into a chuck of a powered drill, and, at the opposite end, has a polygonally shaped opening therein for receiving a correspondingly shaped, two-ended, reversible tool assembly. This tool assembly is sized to slide within the hollow socket, and has a combined drill bit and countersink at one end, and, at the other end, a polygonally shaped opening for accepting a screw driver bit having a shank with a polygonal cross section.
