Abstract: Apparatus for electrostatically grounding a person working in an electronics factory or other area where static electricity in persons is a problem. There is an electrostatic drain to drain static electricity to ground from a predetermined region of the person's clothing, and an assembly to drain electricity from the person to the predetermined region for making of electrical connection to the drain means and for conduction of static electricity to it. The assembly comprises an electrically conductive tab, and a thin flexible synthetic resin substrate, and a conductive film on the substrate, and a discrete high-resistance resistor mounted on the film and having its terminal portions electrically connected to spaced and mutually electrically isolated regions of the film. An end of the tab is electrically connected to the conductive film, and a package formed of thin electrically-insulating water-resistant flexible sheet material is provided.
Abstract: A musical instrument amplifier has all solid state amplification stages but incorporates a pair of vacuum tube signal magnitude limiters to provide vacuum tube type sound when the amplifier is operating in a nonlinear condition. The vacuum tubes are connected to have no supply potential so as to minimize microphonics and are each provided with a small amount of reverse bias to provide a desirable shape of the tube conduction curve and space charge suppression.

Abstract: A dual conductor wristband utilizing a two-wire tether having a greatly modified single snap design. The wristband includes a strap (band) and a connector case, the case having a male snap for receiving a dual connector female socket. The male snap incorporates a plunger and a conductive rubber washer that activates the plunger so there is always electrical contact in both electrical circuits. The invention may be used with dual line constant resistance, capacitance, impedance, and non-monitored systems.

Abstract: A lower front for water coolers for reducing the expense and labor of renovating different brands of used water coolers. In one of its aspects, the apparatus comprises new front panel elements that are substantially identical to each other, and are shaped and adapted to replace corresponding used front panel elements on the used water coolers even though such used front panel elements, and related parts, are different from each other.

Abstract: A resistor combination and method, that is formed by a substrate having a resistive film on it, and pins extruding from one edge of the substrate and connected to the film. A U-shaped cold region is provided on the substrate around at least much of the film, and is so constructed that application of common high overload voltages to the pins causes vertical fracture of the substrate. The resulting substrate pieces are held by the pins to the circuit board. In one embodiment, a synthetic resin housing is provided around the substrate.
Abstract: A method of forming a sheet metal article, and the resulting article, which includes causing a sheet metal blank to have a predetermined configuration such that the blank will bend, in part, into a predetermined cylindrical shape and diameter without need for dies or mandrels.
Abstract: An antistatic metal-link bracelet in which the connector portion has no moving parts. An insulating cap snap-connects permanently to a metal channel. The snap connection is such as to facilitate manufacture at low cost, and to make a permanent low-resistance electrical connection through which static electricity may drain to a grounding cord.
Abstract: A Dyson lens system includes a radiation source, a concave mirror, and a plano-convex lens. There is also incorporated in the system an additional lens that is spaced from the plano-convex lens a large part of the distance from the plano-convex lens to the mirror. A roof prism and a turning prism are provided to conduct radiation from the radiation source to the plano-convex lens and also from the plano-convex lens to an image plane. An image adjustor or compensator is provided between the prisms and either the image plane or an object plane--the latter being disposed between the radiation source and the prisms. An adjustment mechanism is provided to effect highly accurate adjustment of the location of the image, the adjustment mechanism including physical shifting to a slight degree of a portion of one or both prisms.
Abstract: A static electricity control combination including an electrically conductive smock and a dual-contact wrist strap. It further comprises an elongate insulated flexible conductor that is sewn along one sleeve and along the body of the smock. A first grounding path extends from the wrist strap to the insulated flexible conductor and thus to a first contact on the body and to ground. A second grounding path extends from the wrist strap to the sleeve and body to a second contact on the body and to ground.
Abstract: A method of reducing the expense and labor of renovating different brands of used water coolers. In one of its aspects, the method comprises providing new front panel elements that are substantially identical to each other, and are shaped and adapted to replace corresponding used front panel elements on the used water coolers even though such used front panel elements (and related parts) are different from each other. In another of its aspects, the method comprises providing relatively small panel elements that have faucet holes therein corresponding in size and location to faucet holes in the different brands of used front panel elements, and assembling the appropriate one of such relatively small panel elements with a new front panel element during cooler renovation.

Abstract: Scanning microlithography apparatus for effecting exposures of substrates to radiation sources. A mask support and a substrate stage are disposed in spaced-apart positions directly opposite each other, witch a lens system between them and with a radiation source on the outer side of the mask support. The mask support and substrate stage are at a substantial angle to horizontal in order to achieve benefits including reduction in gravitation-induced sagging of the mask. A massive block of granite is provided at the substantial angle to horizontal, and has a flat face that keeps the mask support and substrate stage at desired positions relative to the radiation source and lens system, during scanning.
