Abstract: A limited coalescence method of making polymer particles having an average particle size of 3 .mu.m or less comprising dispersing the polymer particles in an organic liquid diluent after they are separated from the aqueous suspension medium in which they are prepared, to thereby eliminate or substantially avoid agglomeration between the polymer particles upon drying.

Abstract: A cellulose ester film which can be melt cast is manufactured by esterfying cellulose to form a cellulose acetate or cellulose acetate propionate having degrees of substitution of DSac=1.9 to 2.6, DSpr=0 to 0.9 and DS.sub.OH =0 to 0.55 and melt compounding the resulting polymer with a non-volatile phosphoric acid ester. A film is formed by melt extruding the compounded polymer onto a cooling surface to form a solid film. The film is then biaxially oriented at 130.degree. to 200.degree. C. and a stretch ratio of 1.25x to 2.5x in both directions. The resulting product is a film of excellent properties such as surface smoothness, light transmission, low haze, low color, high elastic modulus and curl relaxation after aqueous processing. The melt cast film is useful as a photographic roll film to replace solvent cast cellulose triacetate.
Abstract: The invention contemplates a light-sensitive silver halide photographic element having at least one silver halide containing emulsion layer on a film base, the film base being a coextruded laminate having a first layer and a second layer, the first layer being a polyester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or a dialkyl ester thereof and an alkylene glycol adjacent to the emulsion layer, the second layer being a polyester having a humidity expansion coefficient greater than 5.times.10.sup.-5 ##EQU1## (RH is relative humidity) and a Young's modulus at 50% relative humidity greater than 300 kPSI.

Abstract: This invention relates to a full-color hard copy imaging system and a process, where a multiply photosensitive donor sheet, comprising clear polymeric or an opaque paper base, coated sequentially with a first layer of patches of a cyan, a magenta, and a yellow dye, that are thermally diffusible, with a second layer also coated sequentially with patches of a red light sensitive, a green light sensitive or a blue light sensitive, negative or a positive working photoresist layer, in such a manner that each of the colored dye patches are in registry with their complementary color sensitive photoresist patches, is exposed with white light sequentially, three times in registry on the three primary light sensitive patches, through a multicolor image (a positive transparency or a photographic negative), to produce crosslinks, image wise, in the exposed areas in the case of the negative resist system, or to uncrosslink the resist structure image wise in the exposed areas for a positive working resist system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a shaped article comprising a continuous oriented polymer matrix having dispersed therein microbeads of a polymer which are at least partially boredered by void space, the microbeads being present in an amount of about 5-50% by weight based on the weight of said oriented polymer, said void space occupying about 2-60% by volume of said shaped article. Preferably, the microbeads are cross-linked to an extent they will be resilient and elastic at the orientation temperature, and are coated with a slip agent. The shaped article is preferably in the form of a sheet, fibers, or other molded article, preferably has a relatively low specific gravity and whiteness.
