  • Patent number: 4053049
Abstract: A system for packaging a plurality of nested objects wherein adhesive strips are applied to either side of the tightly nested objects to form a rigid unitary package in which the tightly nested objects will withstand compressive stresses and the adhesive strips will withstand tensile stresses which may be applied to the structure during handling or shipping to the customer.

  • Patent number: 4026399
Abstract: A self-aligning thrust bearing assembly comprising a thrust bearing unit in combination with a plate element adapted to be in direct pressure contact with thrust means, said bearing unit including a collar element disposed about its outer race. The said plate element may include a series of radially outwardly extending tab portions fitting within recess portions in said collar element whereby relative rotation between said plate element and said collar element disposed about said outer race is precluded; and a plurality of low friction elements affixed to said plate element which allows some degree of axial and/or lateral movement between said plate element and said outer race or said collar element and yet prevents direct contact between said plate element and said outer race or said collar element to facilitate self-aligning of the bearing elements. Alternatively, the said plate element may be formed without said tab portions and be free to rotate with respect to said collar element.

  • Patent number: 4017127
Abstract: A split multipiece flanged journal bearing for use as an engine crankshaft thrust-journal bearing or the like wherein the thrust flanges and journal bearing shells are semi-cylindrical and have interlocking means to prevent rotational motion of the thrust flange relative to the respective bearing shell and with potential replacement interchangeability so that any worn or damaged parts may be replaced without changing the whole bearing and so that any one or all thrust flanges may be replaced without removing the crankshaft from the engine and wherein the notch and interlocking lug at one end of a particular combination of thrust flange and bearing shell is of greater arc length than those at the other end to provide a fail-safe feature to assure correct assembly.

  • Patent number: 4002471
Abstract: A method of making forged powdered iron base metal articles of high Rc hardness without need for further machining, surface treatment nor heat treatment after quenching comprising forming a pre-alloyed metal powder, compressing said powder into a briquette, sintering said briquette into a preform, heating said preform to a temperature above its austenizing temperature, forging said preform while above its austenizing temperature into a forged article, permitting the article to cool to approximately its austenizing temperature, and promptly quenching said forged article in a quenching batch.

  • Patent number: 3984214
Abstract: A diamond abrasive article preferably in the form of a grinding wheel, the work-contacting portion of which has a resinoid body containing metal coated diamond particles and also containing powdered metal of two kinds, one of the powdered metals having a relatively low melting point and the other having a substantially higher melting point, such as tin and copper, respectively.

  • Patent number: 3965580
Abstract: A pair of telescoping elongated prisms locked against separation provide a series of size indications by dash numbers for standardized O-rings in a series of windows. Each face of the inner prism has a semicylindrical projection which matches a similar projection on the outer prism and rests up against it to form what looks like a stationary pulley wheel. Also, the inner prism is provided with diameter-determining grooves. The outer prism also has on each face, or most faces, a projection that looks like a pulley wheel and is the same size as that formed by the matching semi-cylindrical projections and is spaced away from it.
