Abstract: Estimation of user-specific length of time required to download application program over-the-air onto a remote module, such as a wireless device, is calculated based on data transfer rates for data files sent over network to wireless device preceding a requested download of application program. Data transfer rates are calculated while user of wireless device browses application programs for download and/or purchase. Wireless device utilizes data transfer rates and information representing size of selected application program to estimate length of time required to download application program onto the wireless device and displays estimate to user.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for content protection in a wireless network. A method is provided for operating a protection system to protect an application from unauthorized distribution, wherein the application will fail to operate on a device that is outside a predetermined operating region. The method includes associating a geographic identifier with the application, wherein the geographic identifier identifies the predetermined operating region, and downloading the application and the geographic identifier to the device. The method also includes receiving a request to execute the application on the device, wherein the request includes the geographic identifier, and determining a device location. The method also includes comparing the device location with the predetermined operating region identified by the geographic identifier, and preventing the application from executing when the device is outside the predetermined operating region.

Abstract: A wireless communication device, pre-loaded with static objects, may be operated under user direction to wirelessly download and install dynamic objects. The device includes various initiators, which request execution of an object by submitting a unique Object-ID to an object manager, whereupon the object manager identifies the requested object, its entry point, and object class and then activates the requested object accordingly.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program for collecting end-user opinions of applications and data in a wireless communications network. The system identifies the end-user who has downloaded software applications and/or data to a wireless device and collects end-user opinion preferably through the transmission of a targeted questionnaire to the wireless device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering information include a communications network defined by at least a wireless telephone network coupled to a computer network, where the communications network is associated with a plurality of communication devices that define a group communications net. A communications manager is operable to provide a group communication session by receiving a data packet from one member of the group communications net and transmitting the data packet through the computer network to at least one of the other members of the group communications net. A message module having a plurality of informational messages is associated with the communications manager, and a delivery module is coupled to each of the message module, the communications manager, and the communications network. The delivery module is operable to monitor the group communication session and to deliver one of the plurality of informational messages to the group communications net.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for terminating a member from a group call in a group communication network provides for receiving an indication from a user who wishes to terminate participation in a group call and sending a request to a server to terminate the user from the group call. The method and apparatus further provides for the server to receive the request for terminating a user from a group call, terminate the user from the group call, and send a response indicating that the user is terminated from the group call.

Abstract: A system and method for displaying an interactive screen, such as an end-user license agreement or verification form, on the graphic display of a wireless device when the wireless device connects to a network server on a wireless network and attempts to access or download software applications and data. The user of the wireless device must then affirmatively interact with the interactive screen in order to access or download a software application or data from the network server. The interactive screen can be transmitted from the network server where the wireless device seeks to access or download an application or data, or can be transmitted from a separate server to the wireless device. The records of the wireless device-server interactions can be stored on a network server or other data stores on the wireless network.

Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing files shared by members of a distributed workgroup through electronic mail. Electronic mail having a synchronization command embedded in multipurpose internet mail extensions is generated when a workgroup member revises a workgroup file and is sent to the other workgroup members. Upon receipt of the electronic mail containing the synchronization command, the local copy of the corresponding workgroup file resident on the computer of the recipient is synchronized to reflect the revision. Membership in the workgroup is managed through electronic mail having embedded mailer's list management command as well.
