  • Patent number: 6435070
Abstract: A saw chain formed in part from planar cutting link blanks including a cutter portion having a top edge surface and a side surface that intersect to form a line edge. A leading portion of the cutting link blank is twisted out of the plane of the blank so that the line edge becomes the cutting edge of the cutter and extends from the plane of the body to encompass the width of one side of the saw chain. Alternating cutting link are formed to have oppositely extended cutting edges to encompass the width of the saw chain. The cutting links preferably form certain of the center links of an assembled saw chain.

  • Patent number: 6431345
Abstract: A high speed board feeder for transferring boards from an infeed conveyor onto a secondary conveyor. The boards on the infeed conveyor are transported in an edge to edge configuration against a fixed stop. Hold down mechanism is provided to secure the boards in the desired orientation. A cam member timed to the secondary conveyor has lobes that engage and lift the board that is against the positive stop. The lobes lift the board upward and over the positive stop. The board is forced onto the secondary conveyor by the conveying force of the preceding boards. The board is placed on the secondary conveyor between successive drive lugs. A pivotal stop arm is provided to interrupt the feeding of boards from the infeed conveyor to the secondary conveyor.

  • Patent number: 6386375
Abstract: A vibrating screen supported by springs and vibrated via rotating gear sets. The gears are provided with off center weights synchronized to produce angularly directed vibration for moving the material from end to end on the screen. The gears are lubricated with a bath of low viscosity lubricant which is vibrated to form lubricant spikes that extend into the path of the weights to be propelled by the weights into the gears. The weights are substantially crescent shaped at their leading end to avoid hammer like impact of the lubricant and to thereby reduce heat generation.

  • Patent number: 6374716
Abstract: A high speed harvester cutting chain has increased cutter height to provide an increased space for removal of the cut material from the saw kerf. The increased height of the cutter links eliminates the compacting of the material cut away by the cutter links between the saw chain and the base of the saw kerf. The foot of the cutter links are flared outward to contact the guide bar rails at a different position than the tie straps to increase the wear life of the guide bar and saw chain.

  • Patent number: 6334832
Abstract: A control for a differential for controlling the relative rotation of a pair of axles extended from the differential to a front or rear pair of wheels. An indicator shaft is coupled to the axles, e.g., through a planetary gear arrangement (the indicator shaft being the sun gear) whereby when the axles rotate in unison the ring gear and planet gear set of the planetary gear arrangement are synchronized to not drive the sun gear/indicator shaft. When one axle rotates at a rate different than the other, the sun gear is rotated. A brake mechanism is coupled to the sun gear. A sensor senses the rotational rate as well as the acceleration of the sun gear. A controller is provided to control the braking of the sun gear. Braking of the sun gear will force the axles to rotate in unison.

  • Patent number: 6308789
Abstract: A drill bit that is arranged to change the direction of drilling. A cone head is rotatably mounted on a shank portion extending from an elongate housing. When the housing is rotated, the cone head generates a concave hole. When a change in direction is required, the housing is rotated a few degrees in one direction and then counter-rotated in the opposite direction. This generates a partial but redirected pilot hole that is also substantially concave in configuration. Continued full rotation causes the drill bit to follow the partial pilot hole in the new direction.

  • Patent number: 6290150
Abstract: A bark dust unloading system has a mechanism for moving material in a container to an opening at the rear of the container. An auger assembly in combination with rotating rake assemblies move the material from the sides of the container to the opening. A blower assembly provides an air stream to transport the material deposited in the opening through a hose. The hose is used to distribute the material. An automatic control controls the operation of the unloading system including the movement of the material, the blower system, the augers and rake assemblies. A remote control allows the operator to alter the operations while directing placement of the bark dust. This provides for operation by a single operator.
