Abstract: A process for producing protective covers for magazines is optimized for low cost and fast turnaround. A variety of techniques are employed within this process, each of which provides a cost or time advantage compared to conventional fabrication techniques. To optimize turnaround time, the glue that is used to adhere the protective cover to the magazine is formulated to be extremely aggressive and extremely fast drying. To assure consistent aggression and drying, the gluing process is regulated by the source of glue, based on the availability of glue at the appropriate application temperature. To further assure consistent aggression, particularly with high-gloss or relatively thin magazines, the gluing process includes an optional brushing of the exterior spine of the magazine to provide a suitable surface area to which the glue adheres.
Abstract: The flushing device comprises a flush bowl (1) comprising an odor trap (8) on a bottom part (7) and comprises a flushing conduit (2) with flushing openings (14, 15, 16) on an upper edge (3). Flushing openings (14) in a frontal area (13) of the flushing conduit (2) have a greater throughput than laterally arranged flushing openings (15, 16) do. The flushing openings (4) in said frontal area (13) are arranged in an asymmetric manner and the flushing water (17) forms a flushing vortex (17c) in the bowl (11). The flushing device makes it possible to effectively flush with less flushing water.
Abstract: The excess space and weight capacity of a conventional launch vehicle for a high-energy orbit, such as GEO, is used to deploy satellites to a low-energy orbit, such as LEO. In a preferred embodiment, an orbit-transfer vehicle provides the navigation, propulsion, and control systems required to transport a payload satellite from a high-energy-transfer orbit, such as GTO, to a predetermined low-energy orbit. Upon entering the low-energy orbit, the payload satellite is released from the orbit-transfer vehicle. To reduce the fuel requirements for this deployment via the orbit-transfer vehicle, a preferred embodiment includes aerobraking to bring the satellite into a low-earth orbit.
Abstract: The clasp comprises a coupling element with which the cheek plate elements adjacent to a closed position and comprising a coupling bolt for a closing device can be provisionally connected. The coupling element is a bracket which is mounted at its one end so that it can pivot on the coupling bolt of the one cheek plate element and which can be connected by its other end to the other cheek plate element in such a manner that this other end is movably mounted in the coupled position on the other cheek plate element.
Abstract: The satellite communication system has a ground station and multiple remote terminal units (RTUs). The RTUs are designed to infrequently transmit relatively short duration messages, and to repeatedly transmit the same message, so that it is received by a sweeping high gain satellite antenna. To minimize costs, the system is designed to allow the use of RTUs that use a fixed modulation scheme. Because the transmissions are infrequent and short, the loss of messages due to collisions is unlikely. As a further optimization, the RTUs have CDMA transmitters that each use the same CDMA code, and the ground station has multiple CDMA correlators using the same CDMA code. By using the same CDMA code, the loss of messages due to collisions is further reduced. For transmitting to the RTUs, the ground station has multiple CDMA modulators, each using a second CDMA code that is preferrably orthogonal to the first CDMA code.

Abstract: An easy to use, and reuse, separation connector is disclosed that comprises a first component having a plurality of leaf elements with protrusions, and a second component having a recess for receiving the leaf element protrusions. The protrusions of the leaf elements are secured within the recess by a tensioned band, or in an alternative embodiment, by an expansion band; the protrusions and recess are formed so as to provide an efficient and effective load and torque bearing surface that requires minimal tension on the tensioned band, or minimal compression on the expansion band. A shearing structure is also presented that minimizes translation of the leaf elements with respect to the receiving surface. When the band is released, springs or other means urge the leaves away from the mating surface, thereby allowing for the separation of the connected items. Preferably, the leaves are hinged, allowing for ease of coupling and decoupling to the mating surface.
Abstract: A flushing device has two water outlets, wherein one outlet is connected to an arch of a trap of the toilet bowl. This outlet is connected to means with which a portion of the flushing water present in a flushing tank can be pressurized and released to this outlet. The water is briefly set into motion with the pressurized flushing water, and more effective emptying of the trap is achieved. The flushing device according to the present invention represents a lower load for the water pipes and operates with less noise than flushing valve-type devices.
