  • Patent number: 5711829
Abstract: The radial pneumatic passenger car tire of this invention has three belt plies. The inner and outer plies are constructed essentially the same having the same cord material disposed at an angle of approximately 15 to 20 degrees. The belt reinforcing members in the inner and outer plies can be of a textile cord material or preferably are of a nylon monofilament material. The middle ply of the three belt plies has reinforcing members at an opposed cord angle to the other plies of approximately -15 to -20 degrees. The middle ply is made with reinforcing members being either of textile cords or preferably metallic cables.

  • Patent number: 5710543
Abstract: The device of this invention has a deployable signalling or display structure for displaying messages on a display area of the structure to signal an event that exists within the building, including a distress event. The messages are provided by indicia placed on a display area of the structure. The signalling structure is large enough to be easily seen by persons who approach the entrance to the building, as well as persons at a safe distance from the building. The deployable signalling structure is stored within an enclosure adapted for installation to a portion of the building with a deployment opening directed to an exterior location away from the building. The signalling structure is deployed by forcing a fluid into the structure by way of a supply conduit from a deployment unit. A control valve is used to control the supply of fluid to the signalling structure from the deployment unit and to maintain the signalling structure deployed.

  • Patent number: 5702327
Abstract: An apparatus and method for martial arts training is disclosed which includes a pair of vertically aligned dummies having free ends which are spaced apart and detached. The opposing ends of the dummies are attached through pivot assemblies to a rigid frame so that the dummies may be struck by kicking without one dummy responding to the other. In this manner, the dummies may be kicked at high speeds to develop speed and control.

  • Patent number: 5694324
Abstract: This invention defines a system and method for manufacturing three-dimensional articles from a design created on a CAD item. The article is made using particle deposition of a fluent material to a build-up on a servo assembly base. The fluent material is deposited in the form of droplets from a dispensing head of a head assembly by moving the assembly up and down in a reciprocating motion according to the three-dimensional design coordinator. A droplet of fluent material forms as the dispensing head moves downward and makes contact with the article being formed, as the head reaches its lowest position of travel. The surface tension and capillarity of the fluent material is used to form the mass and shape of the droplet at the top surface of the article as the dispensing is moved upwards. The size and shape of each droplet may also be controlled by the type of fluent material used as well as its temperature and pressure and the size of the dispensing head orifice.

  • Patent number: 5676900
Abstract: Plural non-pneumatic (NPTs) are unitarily fitted, side-by-side, on a wheel rim, forming a multiple NPT (MNPT) to carry a load by sharing the load between the side-by-side NPTs. By "unitarily" is meant that the NPTs are fitted to the rim as a whole, without cutting or sectioning. With this construction, a MNPT is provided; with characteristics which are surprisingly better than those attributable to a single NPT having the same or a different outer hoop diameter but the same mass of resin as the plural NPTs. The NPTs may be formed as rings, then by heat-distending them, unitarily post-fitted to the surface of an adhesively prepped wheel rim, for operation at relatively low torque; alternatively, and more preferably the NPTs are cast or otherwise thermoformed, as for example by injection molding, onto the wheel rim and self-adhesively autogenously secured, so as to provide the plural NPTs integrally bonded to the wheel rim.
