    Abstract: A mounting for an oil gun in an associated steam generation boiler which includes a stationary union block having first and second output ports for respective fluid streams; a removable block having first and second input ports dimensioned and configured for registration with the first and second output ports; apparatus for mounting the stationary union block which comprises a collar welded to the end of an associated guide pipe and apparatus coupling the collar and the stationary union block and allowing relative pivotal moment between the collar and the stationary union; and apparatus for forcing the removable union block against the stationary union block with the respective ports thereof in registered relationship. In some forms of the invention the apparatus coupling the collar and the stationary union comprises a pin, the pin extending through the stationary union block. The apparatus coupling the collar and the stationary union block may comprise first and second plates that are carried on the pin.

    Abstract: A furnace apparatus which includes a plurality of water walls. Each includes a plurality of tubes and the water walls collectively enclose a combustion chamber. The apparatus includes a plurality of windboxes, each of the windboxes is disposed intermediate adjacent water walls. A pulverizer and ducting to direct the flow of pulverized coal to the windboxes is also a part of the apparatus in accordance with the invention as is a bisector regenerative air heater having a rotor a housing having a generally cylindrical cavity in which a drum shaped rotor having heat transfer surfaces thereon is mounted for rotation on a shaft. The heater includes ducting for directing flue gas and forced draft air respectively into first and second angular sectors of the cavity which at any one instant will flow over respective angular sectors of the rotor. The rotor is heated during the travel of any portion thereof in the first angular sector and is cooled in the second angular sector.

    Abstract: A keyboard in which each key includes a light source and photodetector in a region such as a depression in a panel. The key signal is activated by inserting the finger into the depression so as to interrupt the beam. In one embodiment, the depressions are molded into a plastic surface. In another embodiment, the key support structure is a pair of closely spaced parallel panels. An array of key holes are formed in in one panel. An array of detecors and light sources is mounted on the second panel such that when the panels are assembled together, a light source detector pair is located with each key hole providing that the beam between the light source and photodetector will be interrupted when the user inserts his finger in the hole. In another embodiment, the key board has a pyramidal shape and armrests are provided to reduce repetitve motion stress.

    Abstract: A mixing and delivery system for supplying small particles suspended in a liquid to form a slurry for delivery and recirculation which includes a mixing tank having an inlet and an outlet, a pump having an inlet and an outlet, a sample cell having an inlet and an outlet, an ultrasonic flow cell having an inlet and an outlet, and a transition bushing having an inlet and an outlet. The sample cell has first and second generally rectangular planar opposed faces, the inlet of the sample cell is rectangular and defined by two opposed sides which are respectively part of the first and second generally rectangular planar opposed faces. The opposed sides are much longer in length than the intermediate opposed sides of the rectangular inlet. The outlet of the mixing tank is connected to the inlet of the pump and the outlet of the pump is connected to the inlet of the transition bushing by a circular cross section tube, that is coupled directly to the inlet of the sample cell.

    Abstract: A coal nozzle apparatus which includes a generally cylindrical main body and a generally cylindrical tip section disposed in generally coaxial relationship with the main body. The apparatus includes apparatus for mounting the tip section in relation to the body section, including two coaxial pins which, each have an axial portion cooperating with the main body and another axial portion connected to the tip section; each of the pins has a head, each of which is disposed proximate to the geometric center line of the body portion. Each of the pins has an axis that is generally coincident with a diameter of the main body. In some forms, the head of each pin is generally cylindrical in shape and the apparatus for mounting includes respective counterbores dimensioned and configured for cooperation therewith. The apparatus for pivoting may include a generally cylindrical nozzle front that is fixed to the main body and has an inner face, with the tip section disposed in side abutting relation to the nozzle front.

    Abstract: Apparatus for cooperation with an associated furnace having the capability of burning either coal or oil wherein the improvement includes a coutant having an opening in the bottom thereof. An extended ash hopper is disposed under the coutant. The hopper includes a portion that extends beyond the coutant and a furnace sidewall that abuts an end of the coutant. The ash hopper is generally registered with respect to the opening and the apparatus includes apparatus for conducting gases to be recirculated including a recirculation fan, a duct coupling the apparatus for conducting to the ash hopper; and apparatus for sealing the portion with respect to the duct. In some forms of the invention the duct enters the laterally extending portion through the top thereof. The apparatus for sealing may include first apparatus for receiving a liquid and apparatus for sealing includes at least a first plate fixed to and depending form the coutant.

    Abstract: An economizer apparatus for a fossil fuel fired vapor generation apparatus which includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet and a wall extending generally between the inlet and the outlet to define first and second flow paths in the housing. The inlet may include means for connection to an associated vapor generation apparatus and means for connection to an associated stack. Heat exchange tubing is disposed in the first flow path having the interior thereof coupled to associated working fluid of the vapor generation apparatus. The apparatus also includes apparatus in the second flow path to control flow in the second flow path. In most embodiments of the invention the apparatus also includes a bypass conduit for selectively directing fluid flow around the heat exchange tubing. Ordinarily this will be desirable when the damper is obstructing fluid flow in the second flow channel.

The wheels may be caster wheels and the apparatus for locking may include a plurality of holes in the circumference of each wheel and a pin dimensioned and configured for engaging the holes. The apparatus for locking may include a cable connected to each pin for limiting axial motion thereof.
