Abstract: A system (100) including a catheter mounted magneto sensor (114), such as a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), and methods using the system are disclosed, where the system and method are designed to detect changes in a magnetic field in a body of interest, such as a patient, to detect changes in a magnetic field in a patient, to identify loci in a target body that accumulate magnetic particles or to identify vulnerable plague in a patient.

Abstract: A method for treating a high water content sludge is disclosed, where the method includes mixing into the high water content sludge, an effective amount of an ash composition. The effective amount of the ash composition is sufficient to convert a portion of the sludge and the ash composition into a treated sludge including an amount of a solidifying matrix to impart properties to a depth of the sludge sufficient to support commercial construction equipment. A treated sludge and sludge pits are also disclosed as is the ash composition used to form the treated sludge.
Abstract: Methods and systems for converting waste heat from cement plant into a usable form of energy are disclosed. The methods and systems make use of two heat source streams from the cement plant, a hot air stream and a flue gas stream, to fully vaporize and superheat a working fluid stream, which is then used to convert a portion of its heat to a usable form of energy. The methods and systems utilize sequential heat exchanges stages to heat the working fluid stream, first with the hot air stream or from a first heat transfer fluid stream heated by the hot air stream and second with the flue gas stream from a second heat transfer fluid stream heated by the hot air stream.
Abstract: A method for reducing noxious sulfur species including hydrogen sulfide in sewage collection systems including force mains is disclosed, where the method involves administering a an effective amount of a composition including a water soluble sulfur scavenger and an oil soluble sulfur scavenger in the presence of sufficient surfactant to produce a homogeneous product.

Abstract: New methods and systems for noninvasive glucose monitoring and sensing with electromagnetic waves or ultrasound are disclosed. The methods are based on absolute or relative measurement of tissue dimensions (or changes in the dimensions) including, but not limited to: thickness, length, width, diameter, curvature, roughness as well as time of flight of ultrasound and optical pulses and optical thickness, which change with changing blood glucose concentrations. By measuring noninvasively absolute or relative changes in at least one dimension of at least one tissue or tissue layer or absolute or relative changes in time of flight of ultrasound or optical pulses, one can monitor blood glucose concentration noninvasively.
Abstract: A one-step method for efficiently converting carbon-hydrogen bonds into carbon-carbon bonds using chloroarenes and palladium catalysts is disclosed. This method allows faster introduction of complex molecular entities, a process that would otherwise require many more steps. This invention is particularly relevant for the organic synthesis of complex molecules such as, but not limited to, pharmacophores.
Abstract: New MRI coil and resonators are disclosed based solely on superconducting inductive element and built-in capacitive elements as well as hybrid superconducting-metal inductive and capacitive elements having superior SNR. Abstract: A novel method and system for 3d-aided-2D face recognition under large pose and illumination variations is disclosed. The method and system includes enrolling a face of a subject into a gallery database using raw 3D data. The method also includes verifying and/or identifying a target face form data produced by a 2D imagining or scanning device. A statistically derived annotated face model is fitted using a subdivision-based deformable model framework to the raw 3D data. The annotated face model is capable of being smoothly deformed into any face so it acts as a universal facial template. During authentication or identification, only a single 2D image is required. The subject specific fitted annotated face model from the gallery is used to lift a texture of a face from a 2D probe image, and a bidirectional relighting algorithm is employed to change the illumination of the gallery texture to match that of the probe.
