  • Patent number: 4844419
Abstract: A cable carrier (1) for mounting power cable or lines (3) on support insulators (2). The carrier (1) comprises a gripping device having two legs (4, 5) each of which carries a respective roller (12, 13), such that when the carrier is mounted in position the rollers are located on a respective side of the insulator and extend transversely to the cable (3). The rollers are inclined so that in projection the roller axes intersect one another at a point located above the support insulator (2). The cable carrier (1) is constructed so that the cable (3), subsequent to being run or drawn, can be transferred to the insulator without needing to be lifted away while removing the cable carrier (1). This is effected by rotating the carrier, so as to cause the cable (3) to slide along the inclined rollers (12, 13) and down onto the insulator. The gripping device is then opened and the carrier removed, by displacing the carrier laterally in relation to the insulator.

  • Patent number: 4843335
Abstract: In an acoustooptic modulation device, a plurality of split light beams are produced from a beam splitter in response to a single incident light beam and projected onto partial modulators comprising acoustooptic mediums and transducers attached to the mediums, respectively. The transducers have different thicknesses to vary input impedances of the respective partial modulators and are supplied from an electric signal circuit with modulated electric signals falling within frequency bands different from one another, respectively. Preferably, modulated light beams are produced from the partial modulators through an optical system to be focussed into a predetermined geometric arrangement. The beam splitter may be a body having a pair of parallel surfaces covered with reflection and semitransparent layers, a diffraction grating, or a fiber grating.

  • Patent number: 4841618
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an air permeable electrocast shell comprising forming a conductive layer on the surface of a model, placing a layer of elutable particles into close contact with the surface of the conductive layer and effecting an electrocasting treatment to deposit metal between the conductive layer and the particles, except for the points of contact between the conductive layer and the particles, and between adjoining particles. The deposit of the metal is controlled so that the thickness of the electrocast shell is less than that of the particle layer. Thereafter, the particles are eluted from the electrocast shell to form innumberable fine vent holes which open at both surfaces of the electrocast shell.

  • Patent number: 4842197
Abstract: A fuel injection device having three concentric streams of air for the atomization of fuel sprayed onto a sleeve by an injector facing into the sleeve. The inner and outer streams of air are imparted with swirl in opposite direction, while the central stream of air is free of swirl. The two inner streams of air atomize the fuel as a result of shear forces, while the outer stream of air forms a stable recirculation region in a combustion chamber into which the fuel injector device extends.

  • Patent number: 4834553
Abstract: A package is provided which is formed of a plastic film such as polyethylene or polypropylene. The package is formed to define an internal chamber to accommodate an article to be packed. A slit is provided in the wall and a hanger is provided a part of which extends through the slit. This part is provided with projections which lock the hanger against retraction into the internal chamber. The projections are rounded and/or wedge shaped to facilitate penetration of the hanger through the slit. According to the method by which such a package is formed the projections are shaped to penetrate through the slightly smaller slit without exceeding the elastic limit of the material from which the package is formed. Thereby the material can resume its original shape after the projections have been forced through the slit.

  • Patent number: 4829375
Abstract: The method includes locating a target on a printed circuit board laminate having a circuit pattern etched thereon and utilizing the target to locate the laminate in a punching device. Preferably two such targets are employed and the laminate is adjusted in the X and Y directions as well as rotationally to bring the target into prescribed relationship with reference markings whereby to locate the holes precisely in the laminate whereby to facilitate stacking of the same. In related apparatus two television cameras are employed to operate with two targets to feed data into a microprocessor which generates signals to cause an alignment of the laminate to be punched. With respect to punching mechanisms special techniques are employed to locate the centers of the targets so that these centers can be aligned with cross hairs to take into account the deviations possible in the configurations of the targets.
