  • Patent number: 4803582
Abstract: A perpendicular magnetization type magnetic head comprises a main magnetic pole part wound with a coil, for subjecting a magnetic recording medium to magnetic fluxes which pass perpendicularly through a magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium, a non-magnetic part located on both sides of the main magnetic pole and adjacent to the magnetic recording medium, so as to sandwich the main magnetic pole, and a closed magnetic path forming magnetic pole part for forming a closed magnetic path of the magnetic flux with respect to the main magnetic pole part. The closed magnetic path forming magnetic pole part has an edge which is bounded on the non-magnetic part. This edge is non-parallel to the main magnetic pole part.

  • Patent number: 4803024
Abstract: A method of producing a container of plastic material capable of being oriented and/or crystallized, in which a substantially tubular blank is, in at least two mutually consecutive and mutually separate shaping phases or shaping stages, reshaped into the container. The blank is reshaped into the container by mechanical forming elements (34,42) which stretch the material in the axial direction of the blank, and in the circumferential direction of the blank. By stretching the material in each separate shaping stage to a regulated degree, there will be accumulated in the material a total stretching corresponding to the requisite stretching in order to impart to the material the desired and predetermined orientation and thereby the requisite strength properties.

  • Patent number: 4803326
Abstract: An apparatus in which a wire electrode is pulled off a supply reel, passes through a predetermined path, is led to the machining portion of a work piece to cut the work piece, there-after, the wire electrode is turned back, is returned along the path it has come to the machining portion of the work piece, and is used again to work the same work piece. At least one of these two segments of the wire electrode is advanced in a zig-zag path along the machining line when the work piece is cut, thereby allowing the working gap to be widened for improving the efficiency and accuracy of machining.

  • Patent number: 4802219
Abstract: Method of distorting a speech signal by rearranging and/or reversing frequency bands in this signal. The speech signal is divided into a plurality of sub-bands by filtering, and the sub-bands are individually sampled at a sampling frequencing which is at least double that of the sub-band bandwidth, for providing a plurality of first spectra each with periodic repetition of the respective sub-band. Alternating samples are polarity-reversed for providing a plurality of second spectra each with periodic repetition of the respective sub-band in reversed form. From one of these two types of spectrum a desired sub-band is then filtered out, and corresponds to the original sub-band, but is reversed and/or displaced in the frequency band as desired. All the obtained sub-bands are finally added to send the distorted signal. As an addition to the method of distorting, there is also proposed a method of recomposing the distorted speech signal.

  • Patent number: 4800385
Abstract: A well data transmitting system for use in transmission of a data signal representative of a drilling parameter sensed by a sensor in a drill string of a magnetic material at a bottom of the well drilled by the drill string to a surface station mounted on the earth's surface. A carrier wave is modulated by the data signal and is then applied to a transmitting coil wound on the bottom portion of the drill string to generate a magnetic flux signal induced in the drill string material. The magnetic flux signal is picked up as an electric signal at a coil disposed around an exposed end of the drill string on the earth's surface. The electric signal is equivalent to the modulated signal and is demodulated so that the data signal can be obtained on the earth's surface. The obtained data signal is recorded in a recorder and is processed in a data processor for controlling well drilling operation.

  • Patent number: 4798429
Abstract: An Optoelectric connection device (3a) for coupling transmission (28) and reception units (4) to a line (2) for optical information transmission. The device includes a plate (11) of optoelectric material having two directional couplers (12,13) connectable to the line (2) and a modulating directional coupler (14). A signal at the input (18,18a) for the line is cross-coupled in the first coupler (13) to the reception unit (4). A lightwave from the source (28) is modulated in the modulator (14) to form an output signal, which is cross coupled in the second coupler (12) to the output (23,23a) for the line. If the directional couplers (12,13a) are disabled, a signal at the input (18,18a) passes via the couplers directly to the output (23,23a). The connection device has a reserve input (19,19a) and a reserve output (24,24a) which are utilized for fitting the connection device into the line (2) without interrupting signal transmission on the line (2).

  • Patent number: 4797641
Abstract: An optoelectronic modulator for generating an optical signal in which a wafer (10) of optoelectronic material has two parallel light wave conductors (13a,13b) and three planar electrodes (14a,14b,14c). The latter are arranged so that two electrodes adjacent each other define by their long sides an elongate intermediate space with at most three sections, which are transversely displaced in relation to each other. One long side of one of the sections is situated approximately in the line of extension of the other long side in an adjacent section and the lightwave conductors (13a,13b) are situated in the extension lines. The lightwave conductors are modulated in counter-phase in two adjacently situated sections by a modulating alternating voltage (U) which is connected to the electrodes. The ratio between the length (L.sub.1) of the longest section and the length (L) of the electrodes is in the range of 0.70 to 0.95.

  • Patent number: 4794284
Abstract: The linear D.C. motor is provided with parallel tiers of windings arranged along a linear path. A commutator is connected to these windings and extends along and parallel to the path. A conductor is provided in the form of two parallel strips to supply current through the commutator and through the windings. A plurality of pairs of magnets is arranged with the magnets in each pair being in serial magnetic relationship on opposite sides of the parallel tiers. A support of high magnetic permeability material supports the magnets to form a substantially closed magnetic circuit having a gap in which the tiers of windings are accomodated. Brushes on the support couple the conductor and commutator, and the support is displaceable along the linear path for selectively passing current through the windings, to establish electromagnetic fields in sequence along the magnetic path. Displacement of the support moves the magnets along the linear path in correspondence with the fields.
