  • Patent number: 5485339
Abstract: In an electric power equipment connected to an electrical power source, a defective ground conductor may result in a dangerous situation for a user. To prevent such a situation, the electric power equipment is provided with a safety electrical assembly having a safety switch mounted between the neutral conductor and the ground conductor on the electric power equipment. The safety electrical assembly also has a female plug provided with a ground socket connected to the ground wire of the power source, a neutral socket not connected to the neutral were of the power source, and one or two power sockets connected to one or two corresponding power wires of the power source. The female plug also has a relay having a normally open switch mounted in series with one of the power wires and a control coil mounted between the one power wire and the neutral socket, and a first light indicator mounted between a stationary contact of the relay and the ground wire in such a manner so as to be visible to the user.

  • Patent number: 5443554
Abstract: A positioning device for use with a table saw including a worktable with a transverse beam transversal to the saw, along which a workpiece stop member may slide. The device has an elongated support fixed to the transverse beam of the worktable. A plurality of block members are slidably mounted along the support and are lockable anywhere on this support. An alignment arm is connected to the stop member so as to be movable therewith. This arm has at least one protuberance that is engageable with any preselected block member to lock the stop member in a given position away from the saw. The device allows for easy and infinitely precise positioning of the alignment arm and stop member plate for a workpiece placed on the worktable. It further allows for a rapid "programming" of the positioning of a plurality of workpieces to be sawed.

  • Patent number: 5435493
Abstract: A distributor for use in a liquid manure spreader to distribute manure to a plurality of discharge hoses via a manifold fed by a manure feed pipe connected to a manure pump. The distributor has a cylindrical chamber connected to the manifold above the same. This chamber has a bottom wall with a central inlet in open communication with the manifold and a top wall provided with a set-of equally spaced apart outlets. An annular baffle is mounted within the cylindrical chamber, so as to better distribute the incoming manure within the chamber. The distributor also has a set of atop discharge pipes connecting each outlet of the cylindrical chamber to a corresponding discharge hose.

  • Patent number: 5421669
Abstract: Disclosed is a machine for making cavities in a roadway surface so as to install road markers which is particularly well adapted to make the required cavities in a very speedy and efficient manner, thereby reducing to the lowest extent the risk of traffic jams when the road markers are to be installed on a busy road or highway. The machine is part of a vehicle that can be driven along the road or the highway where the road markers are to be installed. It incudes a cutting device that can be moved laterally away from the vehicle up to the desired location, and then pressed downwardly after having been suitable adjusted to be properly levelled with the roadway surface. Such positioning and operation of the cutting device can be easily carried out by the driver of the vehicle from his or her cabin, thereby making the required cutting and subsequent installation of the road markers very fast to complete.

  • Patent number: 5413235
Abstract: The closure comprises a cap portion and a ring portion. The cap portion has a top wall and an annular skirt. The ring portion comprising an upper ring, a lower ring and a plurality of inwardly oriented wedges positioned between the upper and lower ring. The ring portion is connected to the lower edge of the skirt so as to be easily breakable. The plurality of inwardly oriented wedges are circumferentially distributed and spaced apart from each other between the upper and lower ring. Each wedge has an upper and lower edge connected along a thin folding lines to the lower and upper ring. Each wedge also has an inwardly and upwardly projecting apex positioned and sized to fit under the outwardly extending flange of the threaded neck portion of the container when the cap portion of the closure is fully screwed onto the threaded neck portion.

  • Patent number: 5411121
Abstract: Disclosed is a deicing device for deicing cables. The deicing device includes one pair of conductive wires connected to and helically wound along the cable. The conductive wires are connected at one end to a pulsing device which generates an electromagnetic pulse within the wires, and are connected together at the other end. Upon a passage of the electromagnetic pulse in the wires, a repulsive force is created between the wires, which shakes the wires and shatters the ice that may be attached to the cable.

  • Patent number: 5409487
Abstract: An auxiliary tubing probe for converting a monopolar electrosurgery probe having a main electrode at one end, into a bipolar electrosurgery probe. The auxiliary probe has an inner electrically insulated tube in which the monopolar electrosurgery probe is slidably inserted. An electric conductor extends externally over and along the inner insulated tube. An auxiliary electrode connected to the electric conductor projects forward away from the inner tube, in such a manner as to be adjacent to the main electrode when the monopolar electrosurgery probe has been inserted in the auxiliary probe. An outer electric insulator covers the electric conductor from the first extremity to the second extremity. The insertion of the auxiliary probe over the monopolar electrosurgery probe, and electricity going through the auxiliary electrosurgery probe and monopolar electrosurgery probe, allows conversion of the monopolar electrosurgery probe into a bipolar electrosurgery probe.

  • Patent number: 5409489
Abstract: A surgical instrument and kit including it, for use to carry out a cone-shaped sub trochanteric rotational osteotomy. The instrument has a guide that is fixed to a cervical screw which has been previously inserted into the femoral head along the axis of the cone to be cut. A drill bit driven in rotation about its own axis passes through the guide in an oblique hole extending at an angle equal to half the angle of the cone to be cut. The drill bit penetrates the lateral wall of the femur as close as possible to the cervical screw. Cutting of the cone is achieved by lateral displacement of the drill bit in a circular motion, which is progressively enlarged as the bit moves forward. In addition to the instrument, the kit contains a chisel with cutting wings, which is insertable in the cervical screw to allow the wings to make slits in the bone.

  • Patent number: 5400443
Abstract: A modified flush toilet adapted to process solid human waste into a recyclable product. The toilet has a bowl with a chamber under it for receiving the waste flushed thereinto. A rotatable filter disk is mounted in the chamber. This filter disk allows the liquid waste to pass through and retains the solid waste. An electric heater is provided to convert from time to time the solid waste accumulated onto the disk into dry granules which may be blown into a bag and subsequently used as a fertilizer. A heavy duty disposal unit may also be incorporated into the toilet to treat other bathroom and household waste. The unit communicates with the chamber through a pipe.

  • Patent number: 5397012
Abstract: A plastic tamper-proof sealing plug assembly for use in securely sealing the vale outlet of a pressurized bottle or any other type of container. The tamper-proof assembly has a tubular gasket provided with a central opening, sized to fit into and seal a valve outlet, and a sealing plug element with a plug projecting from it, which is sized to snugly fit into the tubular gasket in order to close the valve outlet. The tamper-proof assembly also has a security seal in the form of a strap has one end attached to one side of the sealing plug element and also has another free end. The strap projects outwards from the side of the sealing plug element and is long enough to surround the valve. The tamper-proof assembly further has a fastener for irreversibly fastening the free end of the strap to the sealing plug element so that the strap must be broken in order to remove the plug and the gasket if necessary, from the valve outlet.
