Abstract: A chain anchor which provides for manual quick engagement of a chain with a fixed anchor member, and manual quick disengagement of the chain from said anchor member, both readily, conveniently, and without the use of tools; the structural configuration of such chain-engaging anchor member, together with an associated guard, precluding accidental escape of the chain from the anchor member yet without hindering such manual quick engagement and manual quick disengagement of the chain.

Abstract: A hitch unit for pickup trucks which provides--in a somewhat turret-like, rear bumper-mounted, rotary array--three types of hitches (ball, hinged clevis, and rigid clevis) arranged so that a selected hitch may be manually, quickly, and without the use of tools, brought to an exposed or use position projecting rearwardly from the bumper. In each such position, the rotary array of the hitch unit is locked against accidental displacement.

Abstract: A ring is mounted, in horizontally surrounding relation, on a plastic drum adjacent but short of the upper end thereof; the ring being fixed on the drum, and structurally designed to provide an annular lip extending coaxially about the drum in radially outwardly spaced relation to the drum sidewall whereby the lip is exposed for engagement by the gripping device of a lift-type industrial truck employed to lift and transport such plastic drum.

Abstract: A back-pack frame, formed of lightweight metallic tubing, comprising a pair of substantially U-shaped members disposed in end-to-end facing relation with the outer end portions of the legs of one member telescopically engaged in the outer end portions of the legs of the other member; there being intermediate cross bars spanning in engaged relation between, and supported by, the legs of said U-shaped members, and said cross bars having tongues projecting from their ends and extending into slots in the corresponding legs.

Abstract: A temperature recorder which produces a continuous graphic record, scribed on a removable tape, of the temperature existing in an enclosure (such as a refrigerated railroad car) during a given period of time (e.g., the transit time of such a railroad car). The present temperature recorder--which is a modification, in disposable form, of the recorder for like purpose shown in U.S. Pat. No. 3,826,140, dated July 30, 1974-- comprises, in a sealed case, a slow travelling tape which spans between a tape feed spool an a spring-driven tape take-up spool; there being a temperature-responsive device which scribes--in terms of temperature in relation to time--on the tape as it so travels, and means to regulate the speed of travel of said tape.

Abstract: A check locator for a peg-board type bookkeeping system which includes a baseboard, a row of upstanding pegs adjacent but spaced from and parallel to one edge of the baseboard, and a horizontally lined, vertically columnized journal sheet on the baseboard, such sheet having a row of perforations through which the row of pegs projects in sheet-positioning relation; the check locator comprising a slide embracing and manually movable along such edge of the baseboard, and a check-positioning member mounted in connection with the slide and overhanging the journal sheet so that--by slide motion--a check can be disposed in a selected position with a line thereof registering with a predetermined line of the journal sheet; the check being carbonized on the back whereby data written on said line of the check is carbon-copied onto such line of the journal sheet.

Abstract: A fence unit, for a woodworking table, comprised of a fence extending along the table spaced in front of an attachment plate fixed on the table, and instrumentalities, including parallel links, connected between the attachment plate and fence releasably holding said fence in one preselected working position, but manually operative to release said fence and quick-adjust the same to another, releasably held, preselected working position.

Abstract: A game board unit comprising a flat, upwardly facing game board of non-magnetic material mounted for substantially universal tilting motion under manual control of a player, a multiplicity of board-mounted elements defining and bordering a circuitous path on the face of the board between a starting point and a finish point thereon, certain of such elements being magnets, and a magnetically-responsive ball adapted to run along such path between said points in response to variable tilting of the board by the player and in a manner attempting to maintain the running ball free of the attraction of and adhesion to said magnets.

Abstract: An improvement in a commercial, pick-up type, portable refuse bin--such as commonly in use outdoors at restaurants, stores, apartment houses, and other establishments--which has a normally-closed, releasably-latched lid openable when unlatched to permit deposit of refuse into the bin; the improvement comprising a normally closely underlying compactor blade hinged to the lid for downward swinging therefrom, and power means connected between the lid and compactor blade operative, when the lid is closed and latched, to forcefully swing said compactor blade downwardly into the bin to compact predeposited refuse therein.
