Abstract: Epoxy resin compositions used in preparation of laminates for electronic applications are free of the solvents typically needed in current industrial practice. The use of certain mono-substituted dicyandiamides makes possible the elimination of such solvents since all of the components are soluble in epoxy resin to an extent which provides uniform properties in the cured laminates.

Abstract: The present invention includes a polarizer element and an array of tapered waveguides in substantial contact with the polarizer element. The tapered end of each of the waveguides extends outward from the polarizer element. Each of the waveguides has a light input surface adjacent the polarizer element and a light output surface distal from the light input surface. The area of the light input surface of each of the waveguides is greater than the area of its light output surface. Also, the waveguides in the array are separated by interstitial regions with a lower refractive index than the refractive index of the waveguides. The present improved polarizer may be used in display devices, such as projection display devices, off screen display devices, and direct view displays. Such displays are used in a wide range of applications including computer terminals, airplane cockpit displays, automotive instrument panels, televisions, and other devices that provide text, graphics, or video information.

Abstract: A masking tape for use in masking a part in a high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) plasma spray process. The tape is formed from a fabric which is tightly woven from yarns of aramid fibers. A silicone rubber impregnates the inner fabric layer. First and second silicone rubber layers are coated onto opposite sides of the impregnated fabric. A first silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive, which is a rare metal cured adhesive, is coated onto the second silicone rubber layer. A second silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive is coated onto the first silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. A release liner is preferably laminated to the second pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Abstract: A curable epoxide composition consists essentially of curable epoxides, dicyandiamide as a curing agent in an amount less than needed to fully cure the epoxides, an imidazole in an amount exceeding that needed as a catalyst and capable of curing the epoxides in combination with the dicyandiamide, a reactivity controller for the imidazole to reduce the curing speed, and a solvent. The use of undesirable solvents such as DMF is reduced. A glass transition temperature greater than 135.degree. C. is obtained in the cured composition and is maximized by balancing the amounts of dicyandiamide, the imidazole, and the reactivity controller.
Abstract: Polymer precursor formulations suitable for stereolithography may be prepared from compositions containing (a) a vinyl ether oligomer, and (b) mono and/or multifunctional vinyl ether monomers.
