  • Patent number: 5159328
Abstract: A point-of-purchase illuminating display comprises a vertical display panel having three sets of lights mounted to its front surface. A first set of lights is spacially arranged around a left side of the display panel perimeter. A second set of lights is spacially arranged around a right side of the display panel perimeter. The third set of lights is arranged in the shape of an arrow pointing upward and is positioned on an upper portion of the display panel between the first and second sets of lights. A digital control circuit controls sequential illumination of the first and second sets of lights beginning from the bottom middle of the display panel and sequencing around the left and right sides of the panel to the top mmiddle portion of the panel. Following the sequential illumination of the first and second sets of lights, the third set of lights is simultaneously illuminated twice by the digital circuit control. The control circuit then resets to or repeat the cycle.

  • Patent number: 5143228
Abstract: A garden equipment support rack has a fixed frame in combination with a removable basket. The fixed frame has a first single wire element that is bent to form a basket support rack. The basket has a front, a back, and two opposite side walls. At the upper edges of the side walls, there is a continuous peripheral wire that functions as a flange portion by which the basket is removably supported on the basket support rack. The basket is for containing such assorted things as trowels, garden gloves, small pots, packets of seed and fertilizer, and so on, and is easily freed from the basket support rack for transport. The fixed frame also has several wire elements that are bent and arranged to form a pair of garden tool support assemblies. • Patent number: 5141135
Abstract: A pivotally mounted U-shaped bracket assembly is disposed beneath the bottom of a bag containing a quantity of bulk dry material and surrounding a pourspout in the bottom of the bag. An air cylinder comprising an inflatable bladder positioned opposite the pivotal mount of the bracket selectively pushes the bracket upwardly into the bottom of the bag to dislodge the dry material and separate it into its original granulated or powdered form and break up any agglomerations or solidifications thereof which would otherwise interfere with the free flow of dry material from within the bag and through the pourspout. A vibrator is vertically mounted on the outboard end of the bracket and introduces vibratory forces into the material as the bracket deflects the bag to further aid the free flow of material.

  • Patent number: 5138638
Abstract: A system for automatically counting people as they move past a selected location, and for measuring their heights. The system includes emitters for emitting beams toward persons moving past a selected location to generate reflected beams from the person, such that the included angle of the emitted and reflected beams is a function of the person's height. A detector detects the reflected beams and generates signals representative of the included angle, and thus representative of the height of the person. The signals representative of the height of the person are converted to data that may be used for evaluation purposes. The system is particularly adaptable for use in retail stores for determining the number of shopper units in the store during selected time periods and evaluating store performance based, in part, on the conversion of shopper units to actual customers.

  • Patent number: 5134923
Abstract: The invention is directed to a pneumatic or hydraulic rotational power drive particularly suited for a ball stopcock type valve, the power drive consisting of a power cylinder being located coaxially to the rotation axis of the cock plug, the piston rod stroke of which is convertible, via a spindal drive, to the rotary movement of a driving member being positively engaged with the cock plug. In such arrangement, the power cylinder may be designed comprising a piston or diaphragm, and for double action, i.e., working in either direction or working solely unidirectional while being reset by means of spring action.

  • Patent number: 5129345
Abstract: A system and method for automatically steering a boat in a body of water along a course to maintain a selected depth of water adjacent the boat. The actual depth of the water adjacent the boat is automatically detected. A desired depth is selected to be maintained adjacent the boat as the boat moves along. The actual depth and the selected depth are compared and the course heading of the boat is changed to a new course heading toward equalizing the actual and selected depths in response to detecting that the actual and selected depths are not equal. A depth reference is established defining whether the shallower water is to the left or right side of the boat, and the course heading is changed toward equalizing the actual and selected depths further in response to the depth reference.

  • Patent number: 5129301
Abstract: A tracker touch apparatus used with a keyboard apparatus having a plurality of selectively depressed keys includes at least one strip magnet support by the apparatus in a position transversing over the tops of the keys. A metal plate is secured to the top of each key of the keyboard in a position just below the strip magnet. Initial depression of a keyboard key is resisted by the magnetic attractive force of the strip magnet for the metal plate secured to the depressed key. The magnetic resistance to keyboard key depression imparts to the keys a desired "feel" of depression.

  • Patent number: 5127668
Abstract: A torque beam assembly is provided with a bushing clamp assembly at one end and an axle seat assembly at a second end that reduce the torsional stress exerted on the torque beam during normal suspension operation of a vehicle employing the torque beam assembly. The bushing clamp is formed as a cylinder having a slot through one side of the cylinder wall that is resiliently biased open to facilitate the insertion of a pivot bushing into the cylinder and the removal of the bushing from the cylinder. The pivot bushing is provided with troughs in its end walls and cavities that extend into the bushing from the troughs that together reduce torsional twisting stress exerted on the torque beam. The axle seat assembly is provided with inboard and outboard side plates that each have first ends connected to the torque beam and second ends that are flared outward and spaced further apart from each other than are the first ends.
