  • Patent number: 4695699
Abstract: A composite member is made by fitting a functional member constituted by an aluminum composite material capable of providing a desired target function to a recess of a base material constituted by an aluminum alloy and provided with the recess on the surface required to exhibit the desired target function. The entire peripheral section exposed at the outer surface among the joining sections of the base material with the functional member is beam-welded in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The beam-welded base material and the functional member are then subjected to diffusion bonding by pressing them at least in the fitting direction and heating them.

  • Patent number: 4694171
Abstract: A two-dimensional image sensor is exposed under vacuum to an electron beam having passed through a specimen, and instantaneous light emitted from the image sensor upon exposure to the electron beam is detected with an image intensifier to reproduce an image observed to attain a desired focused condition and/or a desired field. After the image has been focused by the operator while observing the image, the image sensor is exposed under vacuum to an electron beam having been transmitted through the specimen to store the energy of the electron beam representative of the image of the specimen on the image sensor. Then, stimulating energy is applied to the image sensor for discharging light therefrom which represents the stored energy of the electron beam. The light discharged from the image sensor is photoelectrically detected to reproduce the transmitted electron-beam image of the specimen as a final output image thereof under the desired focused condition and/or with said desired field.

  • Patent number: 4691407
Abstract: Apparatus for recovering drilling mud and the like comprises a vacuum pump (12) applying vacuum to a vessel (10). A hose (14) and suction head (22) allow an operator to remove the mud into the vessel (10). When the vessel (10) is full, vacuum is cut off by ball valve (16). A pneumatic logic circuit (20) detects loss of vacuum and disables vacuum pump (12) for a predetermined time, allowing the contents of vessel (10) to be discharged via flap valve (18) (or by pumping--FIG. 3). Discharging is thus automatic, without operator intervention.

  • Patent number: 4689705
Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic recording disk cartridge comprising a slide indicator movable step by step along one side wall of the casing to indicate the number of pictures already recorded in an associated magnetic recording medium, a ratchet member for preventing the slide indicator from moving backward, and a reset member for releasing the slide indicator from the ratchet member and permitting the return of the slide indicator to the start position.
