Patent number: 5351895Abstract: A method for recycling waste plastic material, from polymeric film or hydropulper waste, including plastic and cellulosic fiber or organic contaminants. The method includes the steps of introducing the waste plastic material into a size reduction unit, and reducing the size of the waste plastic material to particles having a maximum dimension ranging between about 1 inch and about 8 inches; mechanically hammering and rubbing the plastic material for separating a portion of the cellulosic fiber from the plastic; separating another portion of the cellulosic fiber from the plastic by flotation with agitation; further reducing the particle size of the plastic to a maximum dimension of about 1/2inch; dewatering the plastic; drying the plastic to a moisture content of less than about 10 weight percent; and rolling the plastic into pellets.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1992Date of Patent: October 4, 1994Assignee: Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Joe G. Patent number: 5353207Abstract: A plant (72) is operable to receive control inputs c(t) and provide an output y(t). The plant (72) has associated therewith state variables s(t) that are not variable. A control network (74) is provided that accurately models the plant (72). The output of the control network (74) provides a predicted output which is combined with a desired output to generate an error. This error is back propagated through an inverse control network (76), which is the inverse of the control network (74) to generate a control error signal that is input to a distributed control system (73) to vary the control inputs to the plant (72) in order to change the output y(t) to meet the desired output. The control network (74) is comprised of a first network NET 1 that is operable to store a representation of the dependency of the control variables on the state variables. The predicted result is subtracted from the actual state variable input and stored as a residual in a residual layer (102).Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1992Date of Patent: October 4, 1994Assignee: Pavilion Technologies, Inc.Inventors: James D. Patent number: 5343906Abstract: An emissions validation system is comprised of a plurality of sensors (42), (36), (26) and (34) for monitoring the various emissions and diagnostic aspects of a vehicle (10). An emissions validation system (18) is operable upon refuelling through a refuelling line (20) to interface through an interface (14) to a CPU (28). The CPU (28) retrieves the stored dam and transfers it through the interface (14), through an electrical line (22) to a main CPU (26) in the emissions validation system (18). The main CPU (26) then evaluates this dam, in addition to monitoring the amount of fuel that is placed back into the vehicle's tank (32). This allows a complete record of the vehicles history to be maintained.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1992Date of Patent: September 6, 1994Assignee: Biodigital Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Harry F. Patent number: 5341034Abstract: A power control circuit (10) is operable to select between a backup battery (14) on a terminal (16) and a primary power supply voltage on a terminal (12) to output a voltage to a powered device (20). The two voltages are compared by a comparator (28) that drives a well bias node (44) with transistors (36) and (38). The comparator (28) selects the highest of two voltages on either the battery supply terminal (16) or the power supply terminal (12) to power the node (44), which node (44) is then connected to the wells of switching transistors (40) and (42) which are operable to select the battery terminals (16) in the event of a fail of the power supply on terminal (12). This decision is made with a power failure device (20). In the event that both the primary power supply voltage falls below a predetermined threshold and the battery supply voltage is at a higher level, the battery (14 ) is selected for output on the line (18).Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1993Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: Benchmarq Microelectronics, Inc.Inventor: Wallace E. Patent number: 5331568Abstract: A method for determining sequential hardware equivalence between two designs and whether one design can replace another design is disclosed whereby the designs are compared utilizing OBDD representations of the designs. The set of states in each of the designs that are equivalent to each other, equivalent-state-pairs, is first determined and it is then determined whether there exists a sequence of inputs that can take all states pairs to the equivalent-state-pair set. This results in a declaration of equivalence in the two designs. An essential reset sequence is then determined, which is then represented by the sequence of inputs to move the designs to a reset state. This, therefore, gives an essential reset sequence for the design and also gives the essential reset states for the design. The essential reset states of the design can then be compared to all states of the designs and, if they are equal, the design is replaceable.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1991Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Microelectronics & Computer Technology CorporationInventor: Carl Pixley

Patent number: 5321505Abstract: A scalable visualization system includes a plurality of scalable tiles (10) that each comprise a display portion (18) and a processing portion (20). Each of the display portions (18) define a portion of a physical display space. Each of the processing sections defines a processing node in the parallel processing system. The parallel processing system operating on a single node or a plurality of nodes. A message fabric (36) is provided to connect CPU nodes (34) and each of the tiles (10) together. The tiles (10) are scaled by interconnecting them to form the desired display space with each of the display elements (18). As each tile (10) is added to the overall display space, an additional CPU node (34) is also added, such that not only is the display space scaled up from a physical coordinant standpoint, but the processing power is also scaled up. In addition, each of the CPU nodes (34) is operable to update an associated display list (28) that defines the parameters of the display element (18 ).Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1991Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Microelectronics & Computer Technology CorporationInventor: William J.
