  • Patent number: 6836045
Abstract: An electric motor is equipped with a rotor having multiple rows of slits arranged along a radial direction. A permanent magnet is buried only in some of the slits, namely the ones closest to the center of the rotor or the innermost slits, to drive the motor using both magnet torque and reluctance torque. This improves the torque output.

  • Patent number: 6833594
Abstract: A submicron CMOS transistor is mounted on the same substrate together with an analog CMOS transistor, a high voltage-resistance MOS transistor, a bipolar transistor, a diode, or a diffusion resistor, without degrading the characteristics of these components. When a punch-through stopper area is formed on a main surface side of a semiconductor substrate, an area in which an analog CMOS transistor, a high voltage-resistance MOS transistor, a bipolar transistor, a diode, or a diffusion resistor is formed is masked, and for example, an ion injection is then carried out. Thus, a punch-through stopper area is formed in the area in which a submicron CMOS transistor is formed, while preventing the formation of a punch-through stopper area in the area in which an analog CMOS transistor, a high voltage-resistance MOS transistor, a bipolar transistor, a diode, or a diffusion resistor is formed.

  • Patent number: 6823745
Abstract: An outer cylindrical section is rotatable with a first shaft. Magnetic shielding portions are formed of a magnetic shielding or antimagnetic substance and arranged on a surface of a nonmagnetic and nonconductive cylindrical base. The magnetic shielding portions are spaced apart from each other by a predetermined interval in a circumferential direction of the cylindrical base so that non-magnetically-shielding portions are formed between the magnetic shielding portions. A plurality of coils are provided on a periphery of the outer cylindrical section and excitable by a predetermined A.C. signal. An inner cylindrical section is inserted in the outer cylindrical section and rotatable with a second shaft. The inner cylindrical section includes magnetic portions each provided to present a different characteristic with respect to an arrangement of the plurality of coils.

  • Patent number: 6825537
Abstract: In a trench super junction semiconductor element having a parallel p-n junction layer 14 with n-drift regions 12 and p-partition regions 13, both extending in a depth direction, being alternately joined, a part 20 in a shape of a three-dimensional curved surface in the end portion of each of trenches is formed in a p-partition region 13. A section in the p-partition region 13 surrounding the part 20 in a shape of a three-dimensional curved surface of the end portion of each of the trenches is made as a p+-region 21 in which an impurity concentration is higher than that in a section thereunder so that an electric field is increased at a boundary between the p+-region 21 and the n-drift region 12, thereby lessening electric field concentration to the part 20 in a shape of a three-dimensional curved surface of the end portion of the trench.

  • Patent number: 6815599
Abstract: A musical instrument has play pistons incorporated in a trumpet-shaped housing at the upper central part in the front-and-back direction. An air vibration sensor for inputting voices is provided at the end surface on the front side of housing. When a player inputs voices into air vibration sensor simultaneously with the player's operation of play pistons, a musical tone is generated having a tone pitch that is determined by a combination of the operation of play pistons and the frequency of the voice sound signal. Rings formed of transparent or translucent resin and emitting light by energization of light-emitting elements are incorporated at the foot of play pistons. Through energization of light-emitting elements in accordance with performance data, light emission of rings guides playing. Thus, the player can easily play and practice the musical instrument, such as a trumpet, that determines the tone pitch of a musical tone in accordance with a combination of operation of a plurality of play operators.

  • Patent number: 6809376
Abstract: Elements in a triple-well MOS transistor are prevented from being destroyed due to an increase in current consumption or a thermal runaway of a parasitic bipolar transistor. A triple-well NMOS transistor comprising a P well area formed within an N well area and a MOSFET formed in the P well area, an impurity-diffused area having a lower impurity concentration than an N+ drain area is formed close to the N+ drain area, thereby restraining substrate current. The impurity concentration of the P well area is increased to reduce the current gain of a parasitic bipolar transistor. To further reduce the current gain, a punch-through stopper area may be formed. The impurity concentration of the impurity-diffused area is set to equal that of an N− LDD area 31 of a fine CMOS device integrated on the same substrate 1. These areas are formed during a single ion injection step.

  • Patent number: 6806894
Abstract: There is provided an image forming apparatus that is capable of securing required printing quality by properly correcting a main scanning scale. In a pixel division modulating process, for each of one or more correction points (at l-th, m-th, and n-th pixels) on each of lines along which scanning is carried out on a photosensitive drum 11 by laser light, the final bit data of pixel-division-modulated pixel data of a pixel immediately preceding each correction point is added to the pixel data of a pixel located at the correction point as the leading bit data of the pixel-division-modulated pixel data of this pixel. The same processing as above is sequentially performed on pixel data of pixels located subsequently to the correction point to sequentially shift predetermined bit data of pixel data of pixels to pixel data of the respective following pixels, to thereby generate pixel data of a new pixel. The generated pixel data of the new pixel is outputted in synchronism with an image clock of a fixed frequency.
