  • Patent number: 4403960
Abstract: A holding member assembly comprises a shell-like female part with an annular cavity and a male part with a torus adapted to mate with the cavity. The torus contains a slot with an annular spring which, on insertion of the male into the female, engage in a holding slot of the female part. The female part is embedded into a tooth crown, whereas the male part is connected to a dental prosthesis part. Through constructing the female part with the cavity, it is possible to produce holding members with reduced overall height compared with the known holding members, but which still have an excellent stability.

  • Patent number: 4402426
Abstract: Food is fed onto a weighing platform inside a dispensing chamber and carried by a parallelogram weighing support disposed outside the dispensing chamber and supported by four parallelogram arms from an upright frame, the platform being retained in a position to receive the food by a releasable electrically operated latch. When a weigh beam detects a weight set by a control circuit, it sends an electrical signal to the control circuit which causes feed to stop and provides a condition in which an electrical signal can be sent to the latch to release the weighing platform into a position in which a weighed portion of food can be discharged therefrom. In one embodiment, at least one switch is manually operated from outside the unit to cause the control circuit to apply the releasing signal to the latch either immediately or after an interval of time.

  • Patent number: 4397382
Abstract: A coin operated meter has a housing with a coin box, coin return and clock mechanism located within the housing. The clock mechanism is wound by the successive insertion of coins within the meter. An escrow support mechanism within the housing selectively retains releaseably at least one escrow coin in the housing, directs the escrow coin to the coin box or returns the escrow coin to a parker. A programming mechanism actuates the escrow support mechanism in response to movement of the clock mechanism to selectively and automatically pass the escrow coin to the coin box. An escrow release mechanism permits return of the escrow coin when the parker returns to the meter prior to the expiration of the prepaid time. The escrow release mechanism is coupled to an escrow lock to prevent unauthorized release of the escrow coin. In this manner, the retention of the escrow coin automatically permits the meter to charge a higher parking rate fee for overtime parking without monitoring by the local authorities.

  • Patent number: 4397395
Abstract: A dental burr holder comprising a holder body adapted to rest on a support and having a smooth, upper surface interrupted by a plurality of upwardly opening burr receiving apertures, and a member projecting generally upwardly from the holder body and having a smooth front surface which faces across the upper surface of the holder body. These two surfaces form a background which color contrasts with the burrs and against which the burrs are viewed. The background is continuously color contrasting and is substantially visually uninterrupted except for the burr receiving apertures. This structure allows quick and accurate selection of the desired burr silhouetted against the contrasting background, and also makes the problem of detecting damaged or imperfect burrs easier. With dark colored burrs, a white background is preferred.

  • Patent number: 4396849
Abstract: A magnetic drive assembly includes a housing having a pair of end flanges, an annular drive member containing a plurality of drive members and internally thereof a driven member containing a plurality of driven magnets. The drive and driven members are bearingly supported by the end flanges so that rotation of the drive member results, through magnetic interaction, on rotation of the driven member. A barrier separates the driven and drive members and extends between the end flanges to hermetically seal the driven member. The barrier is formed from a plurality of abutting axially adjacent annular laminations held in axial compression by the end flanges, the laminations being formed of a non-magnetic material. In one embodiment the laminations have a chevron shape in radial cross-section whereby adjacent laminations are nestable with each other.

  • Patent number: 4393571
Abstract: A first and a second clamp member 25, 35 are shaped onto a coil former 1 to be provided with a coil and together with first and second clamping bodies 26, 36 permit the clamping and holding of the wire 10 during the winding and/or separation of the wire. For separating the wire 10 a separating apparatus 45 having a separating mandrel 46 and a separating sleeve 47 is placed on the coil former 1, so that the separating sleeve is moved relative to the separating mandrel and as a result the wire is separated. The winding apparatus can form a station C of an injection moulding machine on which it is possible to produce arc welded sleeves 4 made from thermoplastic material.

  • Patent number: 4393646
Abstract: A splicer includes a splicing head into which the two yarn ends are introduced through an inserting slot into a turbulence chamber. The turbulence chamber is formed from two juxtaposed frustum-shaped chambers interconnected by a connecting slot. A pressure medium is tangentially introduced through one opening into each chamber for forming the splice and the flow is guided in a lemiscate-like path through the two chambers. As a result of the two oppositely directed pressure medium flows, the two yarn ends are axially centrally fixed, while the two pressure medium flows escape in the direction of the larger chamber ends and thereby subject the yarn ends to a turbulent and twisting actions, so that a joint is formed having no projecting yarn ends and no weak points due to the reduced yarn twist.

  • Patent number: 4394584
Abstract: In the case of prison cell doors, strong room doors and the doors of safes and strongboxes the problem exists of protecting a switch fitted to the door or its frame and which as a result of the closing movement of the door releases an alarm signal from manipulations by unauthorized persons, for example the emission of a false signal by a prisoner when the cell door is open. A signal switch (3) with roller (16) is detachably fixed to door (1) and a stationary eccentric disc (4) which serves as the switch actuator is detachably fixed to frame (2). This mechanical switch device (3, 4, 16) is housed in a casing (5), whose base (6) is welded to door (1) and whose coverlike cap (7) is locked from the inside to casing base (6) by means of a cylindrical lock (8) in casing (5) and is consequently secured against raising therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4392260
Abstract: A flush control apparatus includes a housing which replaces the usual tank top and has a chain extending down to the usual outlet valve member which is weighted to give it negative buoyancy. In the housing is a lever, motor, switch and timing circuit system which operates in response to actuation of one of two push buttons to lift the valve member for a predetermined interval of time, thereby determining an amount of flush water to be dispensed into the bowl.

  • Patent number: 4392117
Abstract: A magnetic structure including a coil and yoke includes a bobbin or spool having a coil wound thereon, the flanges at the ends of the bobbin having protruding ribs defining radially extending slots which receive the legs of bundles of U-shaped laminations. The outer corners of the laminations are beveled or chamfered and are retained in position by end plates which have inwardly protruding inclined surfaces positioned to engage the beveled corners, thereby preventing outward radial movement of the laminations. The end plates can then be retained in place by conventional fastener means. The entire assembly can also be spray-coated with plastic. The laminations themselves are not perforated.
