Abstract: A toner for electrophotography is provided including a binder resin, a colorant, a charge control agent, and a release agent, wherein a glass transition temperature (Tg) is over 55° C., a molecular weight distribution (MWD) is in the range of about 4.5 to 5.5 when a weight average molecular weight is in the range of about 45,000 to 55,000, and a compression elastic modulus is about 750 MPa or higher at room temperature. Mechanical properties of toner can be obtained at room temperature by controlling rheological properties of toner. The developing properties and fixing properties of toner for electrophotography can be improved by lowering viscosity at a high temperature, and thus image quality can be stabilized.

Abstract: A printing method and apparatus using a shuttle thermal print head (TPH), which can print by moving the TPH in a transverse direction. The apparatus and printing method include (a) printing an image on a medium using the TPH while feeding the medium in a positive longitudinal direction; (b) moving the TPH in the transverse direction by a predetermined value; and (c) printing an image on the medium using the TPH while feeding the medium in a negative longitudinal direction.

Abstract: An optical device comprises a light source unit comprising a plurality of light sources, a light mixing unit that is formed on the light source unit and comprises a light guiding part guiding light emitted from each light source, and a light mixing part mixing the guided light. A supporter supports the light mixing unit to be spaced from the light source unit. A small-sized optical device is provided having an enhanced light efficiency and a projection system having the same.

Abstract: An integrated adapter and fax device using the integrated adapter are provided. The power supply converting unit and line interface unit, each of which has a first section and a second section that are isolated from each other, are configured separately in the integrated adapter. Thus, product liability and safety standards are fundamentally satisfied, material costs of an external case of the fax device can be reduced, the external case can be more freely designed, and a power supply line and telephone line can be easily connected by a modular jack.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving data in a mobile communication system using multiple antennas are provided. A receiver estimates a fading channel of received data, selects a weight set relative to a maximum data transmission rate from at least one weight set with elements of a plurality of orthogonal weight vectors, and transmits feedback information including the selected weight set and channel-by-channel state information to a transmitter. The transmitter demultiplexes data to be transmitted on a basis of the feedback information into at least one sub-data stream, multiplies each sub-data stream by an associated weight, and transmits the data.

Abstract: A hybrid toner and a method of preparing the toner are provided. The hybrid toner is of a core-shell type having improved storage characteristics and a toner blocking phenomenon. The toner prevents image contamination caused by dispersion of waxes or colorants onto the surface of the outer layer of toner particles are prevented. The hybrid toner includes particles including: a core of about 100 parts by weight of a polyester-based resin, about 1-20 parts by weight of a wax, about 0.1-10 parts by weight of a colorant and about 0.1-10 parts by weight of a charge control agent; and about 5-500 parts by weight of a vinyl-based resin, about 0.1-10 parts by weight of silica, about 0.1-5 parts by weight of a metal oxide and about 0.1-10 parts by weight of polymer beads.

Abstract: An apparatus for storing and dispensing a test strip includes a container configured to store a radial array of test strips. The container maintains appropriate environmental conditions, such as humidity, for storing the test strips. The container has a plurality of radially extending slots formed by a plurality of dividing walls, and each slot is sized to receive a single test strip. A rotatably positionable cover is carried by the container for covering the plurality of radially extending slots. The cover includes an opening, which, when the cover rotates, aligns with one of the slots at a time to allow removal of a single test strip located within the respective slot. Accordingly, the unused test strips remain free of contaminants such as naturally occurring skin oils on a user's hand.

Abstract: A toner for electrophotography is provided that includes a binder resin, a colorant, a charge control agent, and a releasing agent, wherein the toner has a complex viscosity (?) of about 4.0×101 Pa·s to about 1.6×103 Pa·s at a temperature ranging from about 40° C. lower than a toner fixing temperature to about 10° C. higher than the toner fixing temperature and has a specified activation energy of 15 to 85 KJ/mol. By defining viscosity dependency in a linear modulus region of a toner and comprehensively defining thermal and rheological properties with respect to fixing conditions, a fixing phenomenon can be generalized and the quality of a toner can be evaluated.

Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus and method in an image-forming system employ RFID tags capable of transmitting/receiving data via wireless communication. The RFID tags are mounted, respectively, on bottoms of fixing and developing units of the image-forming system, or on bottoms of feed and Organic Photosensitive Conductor (OPC) units of the image-forming system in case if the image-forming system has a detachable developing unit structure. An RFID reader is provided as an integral component of the motherboard or mounted as a separate module thereon. Priorities for wireless communication are assigned to the RFID tags mounted on the units and, according to the priorities, the RFID reader performs wireless communication with the RFID tags to read and write data from/into the RFID tags.

The portable terminal includes a first housing and a second housing coupled with the first housing so as to be able to slide in a first direction or in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The keypad includes a first keypad on the first housing which is exposed or covered as the second housing slides in the first direction, and a second keypad on the first housing which is exposed or covered as the second housing slides in the second direction.

Abstract: Grids and collimators, for use with electromagnetic energy emitting devices, include at least a metal layer that is formed, for example, by electroplating/electroforming or casting. The metal layer includes top and bottom surfaces, and a plurality of solid integrated walls. Each of the solid integrated walls extends from the top to bottom surface and has a plurality of side surfaces. The side surfaces of the solid integrated walls are arranged to define a plurality of openings extending entirely through the layer. At least some of the walls also can include projections extending into the respective openings formed by the walls.

Abstract: A data recovery method and system for a mobile device which is capable of selectively recovering data deleted by a user is provided. The data recovery method of the present invention includes assigning a portion of a memory as a data recovery region, creating recovery lists, each comprising a recovery time and recovery volume, storing data deleted from the memory into the data recovery region on the basis of the recovery lists, displaying the data recovery lists when a data recovery is requested, and recovering the deleted data from the data recovery region when the a data to be recovered is selected from the recovery lists. The data recovery method of the present invention makes it possible to recover the data deleted intentionally or accidentally in the mobile device.

Abstract: An image developing apparatus includes an upper case; a lower case disposed on a lower side of the upper case, and internally housing a developing agent, and having an opening. A photoconductive drum is disposed on the upper case for forming an electrostatic latent image on a surface thereof. A charging roller is disposed on one side of an outer circumference of the photoconductive drum for charging the photoconductive drum. A developing roller having one part is exposed through the opening of the lower case to cooperate with the photoconductive drum for developing the electrostatic latent image. A scattering preventing unit disposed between the photoconductive drum and the developing roller, to prevent scattering of the developing agent supplied by the developing roller. The scattering preventing unit includes a blocking curtain which covers a part of the opening and having one side in contact with the outer circumference of the photoconductive drum.

Abstract: A method and HARQ memory apparatus in a BWA communication system are provided where the HARQ memory apparatus includes a memory configured to partition the entire memory area in units of slots corresponding to the size of a concatenation block, to input/output a plurality of channel data to the slot in units of the concatenation block, to store a new concatenation block in an empty slot, and to combine a retransmitted concatenation block with a prestored concatenation block and store the combined concatenation block at a prestored location. Accordingly, the required amount of memory can be reduced by using a buffer efficiently. In particular, when a memory is embedded in an integrated circuit, the size and power consumption of the integrated circuit can be reduced.

The UE receives configuration information indicating uplink dedicated physical channel configuration. The UE sets a gain factor of a dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) to 1 in the case that no DPDCH is configured. The UE calculates a gain factor of a enhanced dedicated physical control channel (E-DPCCH) using the gain factor of the DPCCH.

Abstract: It is generally accepted that salivary components are important for dental health, but till now no clear correlation has been found between one or more of said components and the onset of dental caries. The present invention relates to an assay method comprising analysing the presence and/or the content of the salivary soluble CD14 protein from a saliva sample of the individual subjected to examination; the absence of said protein from the salivary sample, or its presence in a reduced amount compared to a predetermined threshold value in caries-free individuals, is considered as a marker of susceptibility to developing caries and/or as a diagnostic element for the existence of ongoing carious lesions.

Abstract: A video processing apparatus including a display comprises a filter for receiving a video signal containing video information and ancillary information related to the video information and having a predetermined frequency. The filter passes a component corresponding to the frequency of the video signal. An ancillary information extractor extracts the ancillary information from the video signal passed by the filter. A video processor processes the video signal so that the ancillary information extracted by the ancillary information extractor is displayed on the display. The video processing apparatus is able to enhance the reliability of ancillary information extraction by removing the influence of noise.
