  • Patent number: 7906437
Abstract: A method for manufacturing surgical blades from either a crystalline or poly-crystalline material, preferably in the form of a wafer, is disclosed. The method includes preparing the crystalline or poly-crystalline wafers by mounting them and machining trenches into the wafers. The methods for machining the trenches, which form the bevel blade surfaces, include a diamond blade saw, laser system, ultrasonic machine, and a hot forge press. The wafers are then placed in an etchant solution which isotropically etches the wafers in a uniform manner, such that layers of crystalline or poly-crystalline material are removed uniformly, producing single or double bevel blades. Nearly any angle can be machined into the wafer which remains after etching. The resulting radii of the blade edges is 5-500 nm, which is the same caliber as a diamond edged blade, but manufactured at a fraction of the cost.

  • Patent number: 7903595
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving a symbol through a reverse control channel in a mobile communication system for providing packet data are provided. When reverse traffic is present, the apparatus and method can effectively demodulate and decode the reverse traffic. In a method for transmitting a reverse channel in the mobile communication system capable of discontinuously transmitting packet data, a transmission is performed by setting power of a Data Rate Indicator (DRI) channel to a predefined power when packet data is transmitted. When no packet data is transmitted, a transmission is performed by decreasing the power of the DRI channel.

  • Patent number: 7895508
Abstract: A network scanning method and device are provided that allow an image scanning device to scan documents and transmit the scan data to a server. The image scanning device checks a connection between the image scanning device and a server, generates scan data by scanning documents, stores the generated scan data in a storage unit if a connection error exists between the image scanning device and the server, and checks whether the connection error between the image scanning device and the server is corrected. The image scanning device transmits the scan data stored in the storage unit to the server when the connection error has been corrected. Transmission of scan data is delayed until the connection error to the server is corrected, thereby reducing inconvenience in having to reset network settings after waiting until the connection error to the server has been corrected.

  • Patent number: 7885165
Abstract: An optical pickup device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a light source for projecting a beam of light to record and reproduce information with respect to an optical recording medium. A collimating lens is disposed on a path of the light to converge and convert the light into a parallel beam. An object lens condenses the parallel beam from the collimating lens and projects the parallel beam onto the optical recording medium. An optical element is disposed between the collimating lens and the object lens. A first actuator moves the collimating lens along the optical axis to thereby control a distance between the collimating lens and the optical element. A first controller drives the first actuator to find a position for the collimating lens, for reducing aberration generated in the light being projected to the optical recording medium. Accordingly, the aberration can be effectively prevented, thereby improving recording and reproducing performance of the optical pickup device.

  • Patent number: 7882403
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for controlling an interleaver/deinterleaver memory in a mobile communication system are provided. In particular, an apparatus and method are provided which can reduce unnecessary time and power consumption by eliminating an unnecessary memory erasure. A write address generator generates write addresses. A memory stores values mapped to the write addresses. A memory controller controls the memory in which an input signal is accumulated to a value stored at a write address which is then recorded at the write address if the value stored at the write address is recorded for a previous packet when the input signal is generated. The memory controller controls the memory in which the input signal is recorded at the write address if the value stored at the current record address is a valid value for a current packet.
