Abstract: A roaming service method in a mobile broadcasting system and a system thereof are provided. A terminal receives a service guide from a corresponding visited service provider (Visited SP) when the terminal moves to a roaming area. The terminal transmits a roaming request message for requesting a purchase item allowable for individual services to a home service provider (Home SP) based on the received service guide. Upon receipt of the roaming request message, the Home SP negotiates roaming availability and allowable scope for each individual service with the Visited SP where the terminal is located, based on the roaming request message. The Home SP transmits the roaming availability and allowable scope for the individual service, negotiated with the Visited SP, to the terminal.

Abstract: A memory expansion pack, which includes a memory for storing content, an FM receiver, an ear jack, and a controller, is connected with a portable terminal through a connector of the pack to provide content to the terminal. Under the control of the controller, content stored in the memory and audio data, which is received through the FM receiver from an external device over a set frequency channel, is transmitted to the terminal. When the ear jack is connected with the external output device, it outputs the content through the external output device. When the ear jack is connected with a device, such as a PC, the ear jack downloads content from the PC. The memory expansion pack allows the user to provide and use a large amount of various content. The pack can also provide high quality services, overcoming the limited memory capacity of portable terminals, and reduce the cost of wireless data communication.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for composing a data input key array with a plurality of keys wherein multiple character groups are assigned to respective ones of the plurality of keys, each of the multiple character groups comprising multiple characters. The multiple characters of each character group are arranged on the corresponding key in the same pattern as the multiple character groups on the data input key array. The data input key array may operate by selecting a particular key assigned with a desired character, and selecting a key disposed to correspond with the position of the desired character on the particular key, thereby displaying the desired character. Abstract: An apparatus and method for a function setting event in a mobile terminal according to user position information are disclosed. According to the apparatus and method, a character agent function is added to a mobile terminal, and when an event occurs in the mobile terminal, the event occurrence and process is expressed by corresponding character User Interfaces (UIs). When user position information confirming event and function setting related event occur, they can be expressed through the character agent function.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for deciphering recorded digital audio signals and using a smart card to pay for deciphering. Encrypted digital audio signals are recorded onto a recording medium, such as a compact disc or the like. When the user desires to listen to the recording, the encrypted recording is inserted into a player/recorder and a prepaid smart card is inserted into a smart card reader connected to the player/recorder. The smart card reader deducts a predetermined value from the card before allowing the player/recorder to decipher the encrypted recording, and record the deciphered audio onto a recording medium for playback.

Abstract: A cell setting apparatus is provided for scheduling a packet data service in a mobile communication system supporting the packet data service. A signaling receiver receives information on a cell to be added to an active set and information on a change in a best cell, from a terminal. A signaling transmitter transmits configuration information for the packet data service and the packet data to a source base station or a target base station. A memory stores information on the active set. A data path decision unit allows the terminal to update the active set and to set configuration information newly set for the packet data service, transmits the information on the cell to be added to the active set to the target base station in response to the information on the cell to be added to the active set, and allows the target base station to perform the packet data service scheduling for the terminal in response to the information on the change in the best cell.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus and a method of controlling the same are provided. The image forming apparatus includes a device information storage unit, a determiner and a controller. The device information storage unit is included in a replaceable device of the image forming apparatus and stores device-related information. The determiner determines whether the replaceable deice is a licensed or recycled product by analyzing the information stored in the device information storage unit, and outputs the determination result. The controller controls an operation of the image forming apparatus in response to the determination result output from the determiner. Since an operation of the image forming apparatus can be controlled according to characteristics of the replaceable device installed in the image forming apparatus, printing quality can be prevented from being deteriorated, durability of the image forming apparatus can be lengthened, and a user can safely use the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a video processing method and apparatus capable of performing a proper video process corresponding to various color systems. A decoder extracts color information from a received video signal including vertical synchronous information for a vertical scanning frequency of a picture, color information of the picture, and frequency information corresponding to the color information. A frequency evaluator evaluates the received vertical scanning frequency and the received frequency of the video signal color information on the basis of the vertical synchronous information and the frequency information of the color information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispersing user equipments (UEs) to non-preferred frequencies in a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MEMS) system is provided. Information regarding a time required until a next session of the MBMS service is started is received. A determination is made as to whether to set a layer dispersion indicator (LDI) in a session stop message, according to the time required until the next session is started. Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving downlink control information in a mobile communication system supporting an uplink packet data service are provided. To transmit packet data in an HARQ mobile communication system, a second transceiver receives an RG as rate control information from a first transceiver. The second transceiver sets the allowed maximum data rate of an HARQ process to which the RG is applied to the allowed maximum data rate of an HARQ process previous to the HARQ process, if the RG indicates hold. The second transceiver transmits packet data within the set allowed maximum data rate to the first transceiver.
