  • Patent number: 4703299
Abstract: The high current interrupting fuse of the invention includes an envelope free of sand or similar arc quenching material. The envelope preferably has terminal end caps enclosing the ends of the envelope between which caps a fuse element extends. The envelope has an arc-quenching gas-releasing material at least at the inner surface of the envelope. Arc barrier plugs made of an ablative material surround each end of the fuse element which for ease of assembly freely pass through bores of plugs. The fuse element also preferably passes through metal plates externally of the plugs and adjacent to the end caps.

  • Patent number: 4691326
Abstract: A receiver in a spread-spectrum communication system is adapted to receive a signal which is modulated by a binary code modulated by a binary code or a data, and includes a matched filter which detects a correlation between the received signal and a reference signal modulated by a reference code produced by a code generator. When the received code supplied from the matched filter coincides with or is slightly displaced from the reference code, a pulse is produced from a correlation spike waveform with a relatively large amplitude to extract a desired pulse from the pulse and use it to initialize the reference code generator.

  • Patent number: 4687314
Abstract: A delayed shutter actuation system for cameras providing from pre-flash or ambient light sensings automatic focusing control, automatic aperture control, or both, features a spring-energized shutter slide member coupled to a velocity limiter over an initial portion of the release stroke. A spring-driven focus control member, or a spring-driven exposure control member, or both, are coupled through movable regulator members to the shutter slide through lost motion couplings so that their respective movement rates are governed by the velocity limiter until they are locked in proper position by electrically controlled locks controlled responsively to such sensings. During a terminal portion of the motion of the shutter slide the velocity limiter automatically disengages to allow an unimpeded motion of the slide to actuate the shutter.

  • Patent number: 4685244
Abstract: A trap entangling vermin with adhesive material includes a pair of elongate ribs vacuum formed at central locations in the bottom wall of the tray carrying the adhesive material. The ribs are elongate and angled substantially at 45 degrees to the side walls positively to space apart the adhesive materials of two like traps placed in open faced relationship even when the traps are not in good registration. The ribs are hollow, opening to below the bottom wall, and have a uniform, substantially triangular shape along their length, with a radiused apex to increase the spot of contact between two engaging ribs.

  • Patent number: 4686702
Abstract: A signal transmission control apparatus connected between a telephone line and a terminal device controls signal transmission therebetween in no-ringing service. First DC and AC circuits of the apparatus become conductive in response to a DC control voltage from the telephone line. The first DC and AC circuits are connected to the telephone lines and the leads of a primary coil of the transformer of the apparatus. The secondary coil of the transformer is connected to the terminal device and an amplifier and first detection device of the apparatus. A subsequent AC calling signal from the telephone line, received on the first AC circuit, effects conduction in second DC and AC circuits through serial operation of the first detection circuit, a control circuit, a switching transistor and closure of relay contacts.

  • Patent number: 4681416
Abstract: A camera shutter cocking system employs a specially configured cam driven synchronously with a film-engaging sprocket to actuate a shutter cocking lever from a released to a shutter cocking condition by means of a cam follower mounted on the cocking lever. The cam preferably has two lobes, each configured to maintain the shutter cocking load on an electric motor drive system generally constant throughout substantially the entire film advancing operation. Excessive terminal overspeed of the motor drive system is thereby suppressed. A one-way clutch between the cam and the sprocket disengages the shutter cocking system from the motor drive during rewind and traps the cocking lever in a released position, thus preventing multiple double exposure of the film if the shutter release button is accidentally held down by the user during this operation.

  • Patent number: 4674977
Abstract: A closable drum having a heating coil therein safely stores a steam hose or unused lengths of the steam hose in an internal chamber thereof. A steam supply control valve connects a fixed steam outlet to the interior the chamber for connection to one end of the steam hose, allowing the other end of the hose to extend from the chamber. A heating coil control valve, also connected to the fixed steam outlet, controls the steam supplied to the heating coil. A perforated wall supported above the heating coil spaces the steam hose from the heating coil and allows heated air to rise into the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4660724
Abstract: A container replacing a 55-gallon drum is substantially elongate rectangular with a length and width equal to or greater than its height to present a low center of gravity. An upstanding lip on a top wall and a depending lip on a bottom wall rest within one another to prevent lateral shifting of stacked containers. The lips have pairs of registered notches along all four sides to facilitate fork lifting from any side. The bottom depending lip spaces the bottom wall of the container from a floor to create a space for receiving the lift truck tines thereunder. The nesting depending and upstanding lips likewise create a space between stacked containers for receiving the lift truck tines therebetween. Openings in the top wall and both end walls provide access to the internal storage chamber, and the openings are protected from damage by overhanging top and bottom walls and the upstanding lip. The upstanding lip also includes perforations for lifting the container with such as rope, slings or chains from above.

  • Patent number: 4656453
Abstract: A cartridge fuse has a pair of compressed, resilient plugs in opposed ends of a passageway passing through the fuse housing. The compressed material of the plugs engages and holds the fuse filament in slight tension along the length of the passageway and provide unexpectedly superior arc-quenching qualities to prevent explosion of the fuse housing. The ends of the fuse filament can be engaged through the centers of the plugs axially to align the fuse filament in the housing or the fuse filament ends can be engaged between the plugs and the interior of the housing wall to align the fuse filament under tension diagonally in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4654101
Abstract: A method of making sign component pieces to be interfitted in close abutting relationship. The preferred method aspect of the invention involves imprinting upon one or more flexible rectangular translucent cover sheets successive horizontal bands of repeated sign-forming indicia, the indicia being precisely positioned with respect to two intersecting reference margins of the sheet. The cover sheets are then laminated to a thin flexible backing sheet capable of adhering subsequent to be severed component sign pieces to a component piece support surface. The resulting laminated sheet is then applied to individual cutting devices, each having an adjustable backstop positioned to effect a linear cutting operation spaced a distance therefrom equal to the horizontal or vertical extent of the component piece involved.
