  • Patent number: 7278178
Abstract: A tub filler and overflow combination device is supported within a common opening formed in a tub wall. Both a flow passage and a drain passage extend through the body of the device to communicate through the common opening in the tub wall. A backflow preventer of the flow passage is slidably removable through the flow outlet for readily servicing the components of the backflow preventer as desired. The flow inlet is parallel and opposite to the flow outlet for ease of manufacturing and for ease of installation into a bathtub.

  • Patent number: 7269901
Abstract: An apparatus and methods of use thereof are provided for improved manufacturing of window and door frames. In particular, the present invention provides an apparatus that can improve efficiency and reduce manpower in manufacturing of window and door frames by being able to accommodate whole assembled window or door frames without manual assistance and by incorporating and utilizing multiple machining tools for machining of multiple surfaces of window and door frames. Correspondingly, the use of the apparatus of the present invention permits the practical use of an unconventional process for manufacturing window and door frames that can reduce wastage of materials.

  • Patent number: 7268701
Abstract: A portable traffic signalling device comprises a frame on wheels which supports an enclosed occupant compartment arranged to receive an occupant therein. The compartment is pivotal on the frame between an upright deployed position and a transport position lower in elevation than the deployed position. A traffic indicator is supported on the frame for directing vehicular traffic as controlled by the occupant of the compartment. The device permits a human operator to judge how to direct traffic within a safe environment. The use of a portable compartment with traffic indicators is safer than use of conventional flagpersons to temporarily direct traffic as the occupant of the device is less likely to be subject to fatigue and the like.

  • Patent number: 7267299
Abstract: An aircraft includes a fuselage with a circular airfoil body supported thereabove on a vertical drive shaft mechanism. The airfoil body includes an upper disk forming an upper surface of the body and a lower disk forming a lower surface of the body in which the upper and lower disks are supported at a fixed spacing on the vertical drive shaft mechanism for counter-rotation. Vanes are supported in both the upper and lower disks which are movable between a takeoff position in which the vanes are supported in respective openings in the disk for diverting air downwardly through the openings in the disks as the disks are rotated and a cruising position in which a surface of the vanes are continuous with the respective upper and lower surfaces of the bodies.

  • Patent number: 7264434
Abstract: A vehicle display lift and rotator includes a base and a platform. A bearing between the base and the platform mounts the platform on the base for rotation about an upright axis. A rotator drive is provided for rotating the platform on the base. The apparatus also includes a base mounting column mounting the base on the ground. The column includes a lifting device for varying the height of the column between a lowered position with the platform substantially at ground level and a raised position with the platform positioned above ground level. With the column lowered, a vehicle may be driven onto the platform, tied down as necessary, lifted to the raised position and rotated for display purposes. This provides a simple drive on-drive off display that is visually very effective, easy to use and unobtrusive when not in use.

  • Patent number: 7251011
Abstract: A system displays a collection of stationary images as a motion picture to passengers traveling in a vehicle along a pathway. In a first embodiment, the vehicle moves at a known speed and known distance from the images. The images, placed in parallel along the walls of the pathway of the vehicle, are adapted in number, size, and spacing for a vehicle traveling at the known speed and at the known distance from images on one or both sides of the vehicle such as to maintain an approximately constant viewing rate and perceived size of the images. In an alternate configuration, a speed sensor monitors speed of the vehicle to determine the appropriate cycling rate of the images. In a preferred embodiment, the images themselves are cycled intermittently with a blank image while remaining steadily illuminated by an illumination system.

  • Patent number: 7243057
Abstract: A method of incorporating effects of solid dynamic objects into each discrete time step of a fluid simulation in a high quality fashion on Cartesian grids. The method relies on modifying the fluid velocity field within regions internal to the solid objects prior to the calculation of advection and pressure effects such that the sub voxel details of the solid objects are accurately represented. The modification of the velocities is based on allowing maximal freedom of fluid movement under the constraints the occlusions impose. Additionally, the solid objects are optionally represented in a unified level set fashion such that the computations required for modifying the fluid velocity are efficient. The overall result of this improved method rivals the quality of that achieved with the more complex curvilinear grid approach.

  • Patent number: 7237301
Abstract: A hose holder includes a frame comprising first and second opposed cradles for supporting a vacuum hose wrapped thereabout. The frame is suitably sized for supporting long hoses, for example in the order of 35 feet or more, of the type typically associated with a central vacuuming system. The frame includes first and second clamp members for securement at spaced positions along the rigid pipe typically attached to the vacuum head in the central vacuuming system.

  • Patent number: 7204345
Abstract: A bracket for attachment to an upright scaffolding member has a rigid body with a front hook and rear hook thereon for engaging opposing front and rear faces of the upright scaffolding member. A support arm projects horizontally forward from the rigid body beyond the front hook for supporting an auxiliary platform thereon. A retainer member is movable on the body between an unlocked position in which an area between the hooks for receiving the upright scaffolding member therein is unobstructed and a locked position for engaging the upright scaffolding member in which the retainer member is immovable in the direction of engagement of the retainer member with the upright scaffolding member to prevent accidental release thereof.

  • Patent number: 7156263
Abstract: A system and method are used to meter fibrous material into a concrete mixture. The system includes an endless conveyor belt rotatably supported on first and second rollers. Pick up members on the belt project into the direction of travel for collecting fibrous material as the belt is rotated through a container having fibrous material therein. The fibrous material is released as the belt is rotated over the second roller where the pick up members are moved away from the belt at the free end thereof due to curvature of the belt. A sweeper mechanism may be provided at the second roller to assist in releasing the fibrous material from the pickup members. The configuration of the container permits any brand or type of fibres to be readily used while still maintaining a consistent delivery or discharge of fibres which is proportional to the movement of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 7150116
Abstract: An indicator device is used for locating an underground object, for example an underground pipeline, prior to surrounding excavation by a bucket excavator. The device generally comprises a panel member buried in the ground directly above the object. The panel member includes a distance marker mechanism indicating distance to a bottom end of the panel member to provide an indication to an operator of a bucket excavator. The panel member is formed in vertically stacked sections permitting individual sections to be removed sequentially as digging progresses. Each section is formed of folded tearable material which can be both unfolded to produce an elongate visible banner or torn to provide further indication to the excavator operator with regard to distance to the object to be avoided.

  • Patent number: 7147428
Abstract: A water driven turbine has a divergent cone coupled to the exit end of the housing in which diameter of the cone increases with increasing distance from the exit end of the housing. A diverter formed of rigid material surrounds the free end of the cone and defines an annular space therebetween through which a flow of water passes to accelerate the flow exiting the turbine housing. The diverter is shorter in the length than the divergent cone and longitudinally overlaps the divergent cone. The diverter also has straight walls which are sloped to extend in the longitudinal direction away from the exit end of the housing at an inward incline between the leading end and the trailing end thereof.
