Abstract: The present invention relates to a means for preventing unnecessary expense in operation of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) especially in areas wherein occupancy may be sporadic and where the occupants of such areas may not be personally concerned with keeping the expense of running such systems at a minimum. To accomplish this the present invention provides for at least two thermostatic controls within such area, one of such controls having fixed limits for the ambient temperature within the area while the other has variable limits therefor. The fixed limit control is locked and only accessible for adjustment by authorized personnel having the key to such lock. The variable limit control is actuated to override the fixed limit control through the operation of relay switches initiated by an infrared motion sensor unit positioned within such area.
Abstract: A new and improved apparatus for tightening a chain installed on a tire that is mounted on a wheel of a motor vehicle includes a hub assembly and a plurality of tension assemblies. Each tension assembly includes a first end for connecting to the hub assembly, a tensioning element connected to the first end, and a second end connected to the tensioning element. The second end is connected to a portion of the chain, such that the hub assembly and the tension assemblies exert tension on the chain in a radial direction toward the hub assembly. More specifically, the tension assemblies are attached to the hub assembly and the chain in pairs, and the tension assemblies of each pair are arranged in opposed relation. That is, the first ends of each pair are in opposed relation with respect to the hub assembly, and the second ends of each pair are in opposed relation with respect to the chain. At least one of the tension assemblies further includes a threaded shaft movable within a sleeve.
Abstract: A lockable control box for a television is designed to have the television plug attached to a timer. A programmable control panel is used to regulate the hours the television is able to be turned on, and the control box comes equipped with three specially designed security features. The first of these is a plug lock which prevents electrical plugs from being disconnected from the control unit. Secondly, a lockable door is provided so as to prevent the unit from being reprogrammed except by a person having an associated key. Lastly, a circuit breaker is provided which is designed to be tripped if the unit is unplugged from the wall. These three security features prevent children from tampering with the television set.
