Abstract: A new and improved broken tap extraction apparatus for a broken tap in a material undergoing thread tapping, wherein the broken tap has thread cutting portions and has noncutting portions located between the cutting portions. The broken tap extraction apparatus of the invention includes a head portion adapted to receive a torque applying tool, a shank portion connected to the head portion, and at least two tap engaging portions projecting from the shank portion. The shank portion receives torque applied at the head portion and transmits the torque to the tap engaging portions that project from the shank portion. The tap engaging portions engage the noncutting portions of the tap, such that when torque is applied to the head portion, the torque is transmitted to the tap engaging portions for exerting the torque against the noncutting portions of the broken tap for turning the broken tap out of the material undergoing tapping.
Abstract: A caulk cartridge cap is designed to enable the storage of unused portions of products of the types supplied within caulk cartridge type containers to thus maintain them in a reusable condition. The cap operates as a closure for purposes of resealing a caulk type cartridge to prevent the premature drying out or aging of the materials stored within the cartridge and to also prevent blockage within the cartridge applicator tube. The cap includes an orifice retention rod which is positionable within the applicator tube, and a self-threading insert positioned within the cap is then used to threadably attach the cap to the cartridge. Modified embodiments of the cap include the use of a tether, a scraping edge formed on the orifice retention rod, and a bracket assembly to which the cap is rotatably attached and which may be mounted to a conventional caulk cartridge holding gun.
Abstract: A new and improved box protection apparatus includes a plurality of flexible straps for encompassing the box under tension, and a guide for receiving the straps and for orienting the straps with respect to the box. The guide includes a rectangular frame member which includes a plurality of slots for receiving the box-encompassing straps. A hinged lid is provided for covering the frame member. The frame member includes a first locking member, and the lid includes a second locking member whereby the frame member and the lid can be locked together. The frame member includes at least one handle. Buckles are provided for locking the straps under tension, and the buckles are covered by the lid when the lid is locked to the frame member. The box protection apparatus may also include an alarm assembly, connected to either the frame member or the lid, for sounding an alarm in response to unauthorized moving of the lid.
Abstract: A new and improved grabber apparatus includes first and second clamping arms having clamping fingers, a pivot for the clamping arms permitting them to move back and forth from a clamping to a non-clamping orientation, a spring for biasing the clamping arms in a closed orientation, a trigger for retaining the clamping arms in an open orientation, and idler bars connected to the clamping arms. A flexible cord is connected to the idler arms. A person, such as a hunter, who is in an elevated location, such as on a platform in a tree, can lower the grabber apparatus with the flexible cord using an unwinding and winding device. When the clamping arms are above and near an object to be clamped, they are lowered so that the trigger contacts a solid object near the object to be clamped, within the range of the clamping arms in the open position.
Abstract: A pneumatic liquid injector de-icing system designed for use on air brake lines of a train includes an alcohol storage tank provided with fittings for engagement between the train air supply lines and the train brake lines. The storage tank may be provided with a pressure gauge for monitoring pressure in the system. In use, when operating in cold conditions where brake line freezing is encountered, alcohol is introduced into the brake lines. The alcohol absorbs moisture and thaws ice in the brake lines so as to prevent ice-up. In an alternative embodiment, one line of the storage tank is terminated by a plunger so it may be used to unclog toilets. In yet another alternative embodiment, one line of the storage tank is adapted to be connected to an RV so the latter may be winterized.
