Abstract: An apparatus powered by waves to generate hydraulic energy that includes a housing structure, an inlet portion, a central channel, an outlet portion and floater assemblies positioned within the channel. Within the housing structure the different components are installed. The inlet has an open end that is constrained at the point where it meets the central channel. Several floating assemblies are contiguously aligned and exposed to the movements caused by the waves running through the channel. The floaters include a hingedly mounted arm and a distal end. The arm is rotably mounted to a fixed point in the housing. The rotational movement is transmitted to a reciprocating piston of a hydraulic system that generates pressurized fluid fed to a hydraulic line. A number of hydraulic storage devices are provided to store the hydraulic energy. A manifold assembly is connected to these storage devices to provide the necessary energy for hydraulic turbine generators of electricity.
Abstract: A window assembly for garage doors having an opening with cooperative dimensions to receive a transparent panel with a reduced surface on one side and a peripheral flange making the outer surface larger than the internal surface. The underside of the peripheral flange member comes in abutting contact with the panel's external surface to which it is glued. An external frame member is mounted over the peripheral edge of the external side of the transparent panel. An internal frame member is mounted over the peripheral edge of internal surface. Fastening members are used to keep the transparent panel member in place.
Abstract: A face protector with at least three curved rigid members perpendicularly mounted to two lateral rigid members. A compartment or space is defined by two spaced apart T-shaped guiding members that receive the bill of a cap. One of the legs of the T-shaped guiding members are commonly mounted to a central portion of the uppermost rigid member. The bill of a cap, with an adjustable head strap, keeps the face protector in place.
Abstract: An improved electrical sensing zone apparatus and method for counting and measuring size of particles suspended in a diluted electrolytic solution. The apparatus includes an aperture that is optimized with the use of double or single tapered shapes that approximate a hyperboloid of one sheet. The flow rate is selectably controlled to maintain a sufficiently low Reynolds number to avoid boundary layer separation effects that cause noise and consequently low sensitivity. By measuring statistical moments within the aperture, an approximation of the distribution of particle sizes is achieved.
Abstract: The present invention refers to a novel device for measuring coagulation time and platelet activity wherein the patient can measure his or her coagulation time and platelet activity without the aid of medical professionals due to the fact that this device is fully autonomous. A blood sample (14) is deposited in the dish (3) and reacted with a reactant (16). The display (9) then shows the coagulation time and platelet activity of the patient.
Abstract: A apparatus and method for protecting a patient's area from aerobic contamination comprising a flexible drape assembly adhered to the surrounding area being operated on. The drape assembly includes two sheet members having predetermined cooperative dimensions and joined to each other defining an internal cavity with a plurality of outlet openings through the first sheet member. The internal cavity is pressurized with clean filtered air. The apparatus also includes a suction assembly with inlet ports mounted in the proximity of the area being operated on. A non-preferential turbulence free laminar flow is achieved away from the protected exposed area.
Abstract: Am improved shaded pole A.C. motor with dynamic brake that includes a secondary high resistance winding that is selectively connected to a D.C. source when the A.C. voltage is removed. To stop a motor the A.C. voltage applied to the motor is removed with tandem switches that apply the D.C. voltage immediately upon removal of the A.C. voltage or the D.C. voltage can be selectively applied subsequently. The brake winding produces a magnetic flux in the same core where the main stator winding produces the magnetic flux responsible for causing the rotor to move. The brake winding can be connected in parallel during the time the A.C. voltage is applied to increase of the combined windings' inductance (resulting in an overall higher torque) and/or in series when during the braking operation when the D.C. voltage is applied to increase the combined winding's resistance (limiting further the peak D.C. current or reducing the secondary winding size).
Abstract: A motorcycle hub adapter for shaft driven motorcycles that permits a user to mount any custom wheel to a shaft driven motorcycle assembly. The adapter includes a housing that has a substantially hemispherical shape with a convex side with an opposite relatively flat opposite side. The adapter includes a central through opening extending from a round flattened end on the convex side with cooperative dimensions to receive the axle therethrough. Several peripheral annular surfaces are provided with holes to mount the brake disk rotor assembly at the farthest possible distance form the rim while other components of the motorcycle are also mounted to make them compatible with the rim assembly.
Abstract: A hermetic container and coupling system for transferring granular material from a first container to a second container, the latter being typically an applicator. The first container includes a neck and a base opposite to the former. The base includes through openings that cooperate with a cable passed therethrough for supporting the first container. A nozzle assembly includes an inlet removably connected to the neck and an outlet hat is selectively closed with a removable plug. A cover assembly is selectively and removably mounted to the first container covering the nozzle assembly. A flexible conduit is removably connected to the outlet, at one end, and the other end includes a regulating valve that is actuated from the outside. The other end is removably connected to the second container so that the transfer of the granular material can be accomplished without spillage and the contents are kept hermetically isolated from the outside.
Abstract: A skating training device with a V-shape frame that has a front end and two rear portions with handles. The front end includes a wheeled leg and the rear portions include rear legs that terminate with skating blade assemblies. A brake system includes actuating levers that transmit a force of predetermined magnitude to an elongated bar that is pivotally mounted to the blade assemblies and include a braking teethed plate mounted thereto so that predetermined movements of the actuating lever result in causing the teethed plate member to sink against the ice surface. Optionally, the blade assemblies can be replaced with wheel assemblies for land skating.
Abstract: A test bench for wind turbines, comprising a test bed (1) on which the assembly (6) to be tested is mounted, and load application means for applying loads on said assembly. The assembly (6) to be tested is mounted on the foundation through a cylindrical support (5), provided with an upper rotary flange, which can be operated by means of a series of geared motors. The load application means comprise a fixed structure (7) anchored to the foundation, a mobile structure (8) which is anchored to the assembly (6) to be tested and a series of actuators (9) relating the mobile structure (8) with the fixed structure (7).
