  • Patent number: 5436087
Abstract: A process for reducing unwanted specific electrochemical conversion in rechargeable batteries with circulating electrolytes and bipolar electrodes with diaphragms therebetween to form anolyte or catholyte chambers. When a working element such as a motor is electrically disconnected from the battery, a regulating and/or control mechanism may also be disconnected and circulation of the electrolyte is stopped. Additionally, or alternatively, the battery may be intermittently charged during disconnection of the working element and stoppage of the electrolytic circulation.

  • Patent number: 5436728
Abstract: A light beam scanning system for use as a laser beam scanner in a laser beam printer has a polygonal mirror for deflecting a light beam emitted from a laser diode to scan a photosensitive drum with a scanning light beam. The scanning light beam is reflected by a mirror to a photodetector. In response to the reflected scanning light beam, the photodetector produces an output signal which is processed into a horizontal scanning signal to determine the timing to start writing information on the photosensitive drum with the scanning light beam. The photodetector has a detecting surface for receiving the reflected scanning fight beam. The detecting surface is oriented to prevent reflections therefrom of the reflected scanning light beam from traveling back to the light beam source through the mirror and the polygonal mirror.

  • Patent number: 5435688
Abstract: A bar-like article supplying apparatus is constructed such that a tray is carried in while remaining in an erected condition on a dolly, which moves intermittently. The tray is open at an upper face thereof and is turned over and fed to drop and supply bar-like articles from the tray into a supply port. Then, the inverted tray is turned over and fed so as to be returned into an erected condition and then is carried out to a dolly while remaining in the erected condition. After the tray is carried into an occupied tray turning over mechanism by a carrying-in mechanism, the occupied tray turning over mechanism is turned over, and consequently, the inverted tray is in an inverted condition just above the supply port so that supply of the bar-like articles is started. When the tray during such supplying is transferred to an empty tray turning over mechanism, the occupied tray turning over mechanism is turned over back to allow a next tray to be carried in.

  • Patent number: 5434675
Abstract: In a still video device, a high definition image signal corresponding to one frame is passed through a low-pass filter with a cut-off frequency f.sub.ch, divided into "m" of parts, and stored in a memory at a sampling frequency f.sub.sh. The horizontal scanning frequency of the high definition image signal is f.sub.hh, and the horizontal effective period ratio of the high definition image signal is e.sub.hh. The image signal is read out from the memory at a sampling frequency f.sub.sn so that the image signal is time-expanded to be transformed to a normal image signal, which is passed through a low-pass filter with a cut-off frequency f.sub.cn. The horizontal scanning frequency of the normal image signal is f.sub.hn, and the horizontal effective period ratio of the normal image signal is e.sub.hn. The parameters satisfy the following relationships,f.sub.ch .multidot.K.ltoreq.f.sub.ch .multidot.(f.sub.sn /f.sub.sh).ltoreq.f.sub.cn .ltoreq.f.sub.sn /2 f.sub.cs .gtoreq.f.sub.cnwhereinK=(f.sub.hn /f.sub.hh).

  • Patent number: 5434414
Abstract: A system for recording fewer of the events that are caused either by Compton scatter photons or by gamma radiation interacting with lead. The system locally determines the energy spectrum and fits the determined energy spectrum with a trial function composed of a photopeak component of known energy shape, but unknown magnitude and a Compton scatter component having a theoretically derived energy shape and an unknown magnitude for each pixel of the image. The trial function is locally fitted to the measured energy spectrum to obtain the values of both the Compton Coefficient and the gamma radiation interacting with lead. This enables removal of Compton contamination and also the contamination caused by interaction of the gamma photons with lead components.
