  • Patent number: 5432593
Abstract: An electrophotographic imaging apparatus for forming an image on a continuous recording sheet, transfers a toner image to the continuous recording sheet using a transfer unit. A tractor feeds the recording sheet from the transfer unit to a fixing unit where heat and pressure are applied to the recording sheet to fuse the toner image. A controller controls the fixing unit so that heat and pressure are applied to the continuous recording sheet after the tractor starts feeding the continuous recording sheet, and controls the fixing unit to inhibit the application of heat and pressure to the continuous recording sheet before the tractor stops feeding the recording sheet.

  • Patent number: 5432792
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for connecting a computer to a digital public or private telecommunications network in order to exchange data between the computer and a data transmitting/receiving device connected to the telecommunications network. The connection of the computer to the telecommunications network is effected via an interface subassembly and at least one primary rate access. A high data transfer rate required by the primary rate access is achieved in the interface subassembly using a parallel arithmetic and logic unit, which, in turn, is embodied, for instance, by transputers. A method is also disclosed for a software bit rate adaptation, that is performed in the parallel arithmetic and logic unit. The computer is linked to the interface assembly via a bus system, such as a Multibus I.

  • Patent number: 5428850
Abstract: A shower apparatus is provided with a plurality of shower discharge ports. More specifically, a shower apparatus is provided, in which hot water remains in a hot water line, that is communicated with the shower discharge ports, after the discharge has been completed. The hot water, which has a lower temperature, is drained through a drain valve for disposal of the water in the hot water line and a drain line. At the beginning of the next shower discharge, cold water is thus prevented from being discharged. The operation of an opening and closing valve for effecting discharge and stoppage of each shower discharge port is controlled according to control programs, so that the shower discharge is automatically controlled. The content of the shower discharge, carried out according to the programs, can be changed by a user through the operation of a control section. Moreover, upon the start of the shower discharge, a sudden jet of water is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5430652
Abstract: The apparatus is composed of calculation of a vehicle wheel speed of each vehicle wheel for each of control cycles, calculation of tolerance maximum reduced speed amount approximately proportional to the .mu. value of the road surface by a wheel cylinder fluid pressure, judgement as to whether the vehicle wheel speed at this time is reduced in speed larger than the estimated vehicle body speed at the last time in the tolerance maximum reduced speed amount at the reduced speed time. When the reduced speed is much larger, a value reduced in the tolerance maximum reduced speed amount from the estimated vehicle body speed at the last time is made an estimated vehicle body speed at this time. On the other hand, when the reduced speed is much smaller, the vehicle wheel speed at this time is made an estimated vehicle body speed at this time.

  • Patent number: 5427400
Abstract: A cross country ski in which, in the central portion of the ski, in the gripping zone of the boot, the heel zone acts as a support of the foot during a sliding phase, and a metatarso-phalangian support zone of the impulsion in the impulsion phase of the ski, a transverse slit is arranged, crossing the ski. The slit defines two flexion beams, upper and lower, respectively, in the thickness of the ski. This arrangement enables, during the impulsion phase, a good flattening on the ground of the lower beam and thus of the sole portion of the ski, i.e., the waxing chamber. The efficiency of the impulsion is thus substantially increased without affecting the sliding phase.

  • Patent number: 5426961
Abstract: Anti-theft security device for trailers of trucks is provided with a security lock integrated to a mechanism actuating the props of trailers. The anti-security device acts either mechanically on the lifting-lowering motion transmission mechanism while preventing the gears from meshing or by clocking the bevel gear by means of a metal part fitting between two teeth, or by impeding the rotation of the rotary drive bar connecting the two props. The device can also act electrically by cutting the supply of an electric motor supplied by the tractor battery and actuating the props. The mechanical and electrical locks can be combined. The device is particularly applicable to the field of road trucks of large loading capacity which are comprised of a tractor part and a trailer part articulated to each other and which may be detached, and is intended to prevent the theft of the trailer when it is not running and uncoupled.
