Abstract: Playground equipment comprising a revolving ring for standing or sitting on is according to the invention composed of ring segments (1) which are connected by means of connecting pieces (2) for forming a closed ring. The revolving ring is mounted somewhat above the base by means of legs (3) and by adapting the length of the legs, an inclined revolving plane may be obtained. The structure itself comprises a stationary ring (5, 6) on which a revolving ring (4) provided with wheels or rolls (9, 10) may roll. The revolving ring (1) fits tightly about the stationary part of the playground equipment and it is not possible to separate the parts apart once the playground equipment has been assembled and held together by means of locking rings (12).

Abstract: Method and plant for processing in the form of washing and/or ironing of substantially flat items (4), such as textiles and the like, which individually can be fed continuously and successively into a processing plant. The processing plant contains fixed as well as movable, tubular parts (12, 13, 14, 15), where the process or the processes take place in a forwardly-progressing movement by means of a holding arrangement (6) with a holding device (7) for the securing and stretching-out of one or more items (4), the holding arrangement (6) securing the item (4) or the items (4) from the feeding-in part (1) in the process, through washing and/or ironing parts until the processes are concluded. A plant for the execution of the method was the fixed and the movable parts which form part of the processing part of the plant consisting of a number of tubular elements (12, 13, 14, 15) which are disposed in a substantially horizontal manner and transversely to the processing direction.
Abstract: Method for producing a printed circuit board on a substrate comprising five steps: (a) printing a predetermined circuit pattern onto the substrate using a conductive material, (b) applying additional connection traces onto the substrate, (c) depositing a metal onto the printed circuit pattern by electroplating or electroforming a metal onto the substrate, (d) applying an adhesion and insulation glue layer over portions of the metal that comprises the desired circuit pattern, and (e) removing any undesired connection traces from the substrate.
Abstract: The invention provides anti-thiol reagents which inhibit enzyme activity of cell-associated protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) by oxidizing or blocking PDI active site vicinal thiol groups which normally participate in disulfide bond rearrangement of PDI substrates. Inhibition of this PDI function is particularly useful in blocking PDI-mediated entry of HIV or other virions into a host cell, as well as inhibiting lymphocyte traffic through the lymph nodes. The invention further provides an assay for the identification of such PDI inhibitors based on the discovery that inhibitors of the invention also induce shedding of the leucocyte L-selectin adhesion molecule.

Abstract: There is provided a needle device for percutaneous drug delivery to a patient. The device comprises a substantially L-shaped, hollow needle for drug delivery therethrough and a body. The needle includes a needle end and the body is secured to the needle and longitudinally spaced from the needle end. The body includes an integral pair of flexible handles adapted to be grasped for insertion of the needle device into and removal of the device from the patient.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for determining direction and relative magnitude of maximum horizontal stress in sedimentary basins within Earth's crust. In particular the method uses seismic reflection data in determining the direction and magnitude of stresses. The method involves identifying from seismic data faults which cut the upper continental crust and uses those faults in conjunction with globally simultaneous compressional structures such as anticline to map the horizontal stresses. The invention has a particular application in the hydrocarbon exploration and production industry and has the advantage of providing the results pre-drill.
Abstract: A gas deflector valve is incorporated with an engine cooling system, and located before an inlet to a heat exchanger used to cool hot gas from the engine as part of an EGR system. The gas diverter valve conducts the gas from the engine to the heat exchanger of the EGR system when its temperature is above normal and its cooling is required, or diverts the gas to recycle the gas directly to the engine, without it passing through the heat exchanger when the gas temperature is below the minimum limits for cooling. The gas deflector valve is actuated by a pneumatic actuator responsive to an electric signal from the engine's electronic control center.
Abstract: A deflector by-pass valve for engine exhaust gas, used with an exhaust gas recirculation system on an automobile, is integrated with the cooling system, and located before the inlet for the engine's hot gas to the water/gas heat exchanger of the EGR system. The deflector by-pass valve is activated by a vacuum/pressure pneumatic system and actuated by an electric signal from the engine's electronic control center. Its main purpose is to conduct the gas through the heat exchanger/gas cooler when cooling is required, or to recycle the gas directly to the engine, without it passing through the heat exchanger when the gas is below the minimum limit for cooling.
Abstract: Used in the automobile industry, and more specifically in the driver's cab heating system, the valve is installed between the link between the engine and the radiator and the cab's heating system. It consists of a housing unit (1) which has a circular compartment (2) which houses the rotor (25) which has a side wall which protrudes a few millimeters (28) and has attached to it, by means of an “8”-shaped lever (36), a sealing unit, consisting of an O ring (33) and its support (34). This sealing unit and the side wall (28) are responsible for blocking off the flow of liquid to the cab's heating system and the by-pass, respectively. The previously mentioned compartment has a tubular inlet (3) and outlet (5) and is attached by a linking channel (14) to the adjacent cavity (10), to which is attached an outlet tube (11) and a return opening (13) and the rotor (25) is operated manually by means of an external lever (42).
Abstract: The instant invention relates to an animation actuator and devices employing such an animation actuator. Actuators and devices of the invention are useful in animated entertainment devices. In one embodiment of the instant invention, the actuators are used in connection with an animated greeting card.
Abstract: A conveyor (1) for containers (2) includes a first and second endless metallic belt (5a, 5b), which are arranged side by side and parallel, and which are mounted on respective driving pulleys having parallel axes. The metallic belts are operated to move with the same velocity in a predetermined forward movement direction (W). Operating means adjust the mutual angular positioning of the driving pulleys. A plurality of retaining elements, first (6a) and second (6b), are removably fastened to the respective metallic belts (5a, 5b) to define corresponding seats (7) for receiving and housing the containers (2), The longitudinal dimension of each of the seats (7) can be changed by acting on the operating means. With a maximum width (200) of the longitudinal dimension of each seat (7), the first and second retaining elements (6a, 6b) defining the seat (7) are situated one beside the other and partially overlapped.
