Abstract: A containment apparatus for confining asbestos fibers and the like floating in the air adjacent to a ceiling work area as a consequence of removing or repairing asbestos containing ceiling material. A substantially fiber-tight bag of flexible material has an open top adapted for positioning in close proximity to a friable ceiling substrate, or for fitting tightly against a stable ceiling substrate, in surrounding relation to the ceiling area to be worked upon and is supported in such position by an apparatus which in turn rests on the floor beneath the ceiling. One or more gloves of flexible material are sealed to openings in the bag, and each glove is adapted for providing protected access to the interior of the bag for the hand and arm of a user. At least a major portion of the bag is automatically transparent so that a user having one or both hands inserted in the gloves can view the area of the ceiling being worked upon from outside the bag.
Abstract: A knitting needle holder apparatus having flattened holder members mounted at the ends of a flexible base strap, and knitting needles having spherical balls formed on their blunt ends fitting tightly into sockets formed in the knitting needle holders so that, when the user is sitting upon the strap, the knitting needles will be supported in the correct knitting position. Adjustment strips of interlocking plastic hooks and loops are provided for adjusting the distance between the needle holders to accommodate different lengths of needles.
Abstract: A water-cooled lounging pad having circular top and bottom sheets of flexible plastic material to be lain upon by a person obtaining a suntan, a heat seal joining the top and bottom sheets at their peripheries to form a flattened circular waterproof closure capable of retaining a body of water therein, and valve means in one of the sheets formed for slectively admitting a desired quantity of water into the enclosure and for retaining the body of water in the enclosure and for discharging desired quantities of water from the enclosure, the diameter of the pad is 7 feet 6 inches and it is 10 to 15 inches high at the center. The material is white ultraviolet-stablized vinyl sheet of 20 mil thickness substantially opaque to sunlight. The method provides a circular peripheral seal from a fixed work station by supporting the vinyl sheets on a table rotatable about a central axis.
Abstract: A door opening limiting bar having an elongated rigid member mountable between a first bracket attached to the inner face of a hinged door and a second bracket attached to a wall confronting the inner face of the door at approximately the same height as the first bracket and with the bar extending diagonally between the brackets. The bar is axially expandable and contractable for adjusting the position of the door relative to its frame.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for clarifying bottled wine by riddling in which the bottles of wine are positioned in generally neck-down inverted position and are subjected to abrupt limited generally vertical force capable of dislodging sediment and solids from adherence to the interior surfaces of the bottles. The apparatus accomplishes the abrupt limited generally vertical force by either lifting and dropping a platform upon which cases of bottles are positioned, or bumping the platform from below. Control means automatically cycles the jouncing action, and supplementary vibratory action, through periods of timed duration and at desired frequencies and amplitudes, the bottles being allowed to remain quiescent for desired periods of time between jouncing actions.

Abstract: An odor controlling pet excrement container having a substantially flat pan in which is removably mounted a conforming protective liner of flexible sheet material, the liner having a layer of absorptive material and being adapted to contain a layer of litter material if desired. After use, the liner and its contents are removed from the pan and the excrement and litter are sealed within the liner by means of a drawstring. Super absorbent material capable of gelling liquid urine and suitable odor suppressents are incorporated in the liner and its contents.
Abstract: A tethered flying disc toy having a conventional inverted saucer body and an elongated flexible tether attached to the body by an annular ball bearing providing full freedom of rotation of the disc relative to the tether. In another form, the tether line slides through a bore in an upwardly projecting shank of a plug inserted into the inner race of a ball bearing having an axis of rotation coincident with the axis of rotation of the disc body so that the disc can move freely along the tether line while spinning.
Abstract: Wave actuated pump apparatus providing paired pump and main floats positionable in horizontally spaced relation on a body by liquid and joined together by an elongated arm having an end rigidly secured to a smaller pump float and an opposite end pivotally attached to the larger main float so that the arm is subject to angular displacement relative to the main float as the floats are displaced vertically with respect to each other in response to wave action in the body of liquid upon which the apparatus floats. A linearly actuatable pump pivotally secured between the arm and the main float pumps a desired fluid in response to the angular displacement of the arm relative to the main float.
Abstract: A single fold wallet for storing lottery tickets, and for readily identifying winning numbers on each ticket, having flat sides provided with transparent faced pockets, a swingable flat member having a rectangular transparent window for overlying lotto tickets, and a marking pen carried in a loop of flexible material at the fold line of the wallet and formed for marking rings on the transparent window to indicate the location of winning numbers in each of the numbered unit areas of lotto tickets.
Abstract: A drain unclogging and clearing apparatus providing an elongated rigid tube having a constricting nozzle at one end capable of increasing the velocity of water flowing through the tube and ejecting such water in a jet, the nozzle being surrounded by a flared resilient splash guard. The opposite end of the tube is provided with a quick acting manually controlled ball plug valve connected to a supply hose which, in turn, is connectable to either a male or female threaded faucet. An oval ring-shaped handle is adjustably mounted on the tube approximately one-third of the length of the tube from the valve and is provided with studs for carrying male and female hose adapters.
Abstract: A selectively temporarily and/or permanently sealable envelope or the like having a flap provided with a layer of wettable dry adhesive, a tab extending from the flap and having a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive, and means for selectively masking off, concealing and protecting the layer of pressure sensitive adhesive whereby the closure flap is selectively releasably securable to the container body by the pressure sensitive adhesive and is permanently securable to the container body by the wettable adhesive.
Abstract: A barbecue apparatus having a vertical central post removably attached to a laterally extending base and having a plurality of vertically and radially offset transverse openings into which the ends of skewers laden with food may be inserted to position the skewers at the desired height. An auxiliary grill, fire pan, steam pan and smoker dome are provided, all of which are adjustably supported on the central post.
Abstract: A purge gas system for welding pipes having a flat circular plate with a flat gasket adapted to engage the end of a pipe section and a pair of toggle joints positioned inside the end of the pipe and formed to have their knuckles press outwardly against the interior surface of the pipe upon rotation of a thumbscrew threadably engaged on a tube passing through the center of the plate, the tube being hollow for supplying purge gas and for permitting removal of ambient atmosphere displaced by the purge gas.
Abstract: A single runner sled having an elongated runner having a straight medial portion curving upwardly at both the front and rear ends and curving upwardly along the sides of the runner so that shifting the weight of the user from side to side on the pedestal supported seat controls the direction of travel of the runner, the rear end of the runner being curved upwardly higher than the front end of the runner and the seat being located near the rear end so that the unit may be rocked back on the rear end when controlling the speed of travel of the sled by engagement of the feet of the user with the snow over which the sled is traveling. A reinforcing or rubbing strip may be mounted along the flat portion of the bottom of the runner.
Abstract: A chair secured between parallel carrier arms which extend from the front and back of the chair enables the carrying of a handicapped person by two other people including on staircases or under other conditions where conventional conveyances for the handicapped such as wheel chairs, gurneys, stretchers or the like are unsuitable. The chair is extendable and contractable relative to the carrier arms between an expanded operating configuration and a flat compact storage configuration which makes it practical to stock and prominently display the apparatus in locations such as high rise buildings where it may be needed during emergency evacuations or for other purposes.
Abstract: A photoelectric bin level sensor comprising a housing from which projects a source probe and a detector probe, the source probe and the detector probe both are bent at an angle of approximately 100 degrees so as to point substantially downward. Said probes project from the housing and are located closely adjacent to the lower edge thereof so that probes can be conveniently passed through two holes drilled in a wall of a particulate matter storage tank.
Abstract: Apparatus for manually transporting an injured person includes a chair having a seat, a backrest, front and rear legs, ground wheels on the rear legs and carrier arms which extend forwardly and backwardly at opposite sides of the chair.
