Abstract: A barbed tape with a longitudinally extending strengthening groove is formed by pushing a strip of barbed tape to and through forming rolls which cooperate with the tape and a wire mandrel. The wire mandrel includes a continuous loop of wire rope which is guided to and through the forming rolls with the strip of barbed tape to form the longitudinal strengthening groove in the tape. The wire mandrel remains in cooperation with the tape as the grooved tape and wire mandrel move through a radial bender which bends the tape into a helical coil. The tape is provided in reel form and is fed to a blanking press to have barbs formed thereon prior to being fed to the roll former. A take up device receives the coiled tape as it exits the radial bender.

Abstract: An educational training device in which a plurality of transparent sheets and base sheets are secured in fixed registry onto a top surface of a frame. A student can trace patterns shown on the base sheets onto the transparent sheets. The student can also remove and/or rearrange any of the sheets to thereby study the different interrelationships between the patterns. In addition, a top transparent sheet can be marked upon to draw a pattern that is extrapolated from the data provided by the underlying sheets.

Abstract: A maze type game board having a plurality of pathways divided into spaces. Preselected spaces having directional indicators thereon so that a playing piece moving along said spaces when finishing a turn on said directional indicators must begin the next turn by moving off in the direction of said indicator. The object of the game being to travel from the start point to the finish point of the game. Said players having the option of choosing to move the playing piece down any pathway forming a part of an intersection through which the players piece is moving.

Abstract: A marking system is disclosed that enables a user to lay out a foundation/perimeter for a structure without requiring the use of measuring instruments and/or complex procedures. The system includes six wire-like premeasured members that are releasably attached to specially designed corner members. The system is laid out with four of the wire-like members enclosing a square or rectangular area with their ends attached to the corner members. The remaining two wire-like members diagonally cross the enclosed area and each is attached at its ends to opposite corner members. When the diagonals intersect at their midpoints, the user is assured that the corners form right angles. Each of the diagonally placed members preferably includes a marking band at its midpoint to facilitate the locating of the midpoints by a user.

Abstract: A spraying system to be used on wastewater settling tanks for skimming the top scum layer into a drain. The system includes a spray nozzle that causes the top liquid layer to move in a circular fashion about the center of the tank. The nozzle can be in the form of a wall mounted spray unit that sprays water onto the surface of the contained wastewater. The nozzle can also be in the form of a multiorificed tubular body mounted directly onto the top of the drain trough. Water sprayed from the latter nozzle is directed into the trough and thereby causes a suctioning of the scum layer into the drain. The system can employ either of the nozzles or both nozzles in combination.

Abstract: A cover panel frame for retrofitting an automatic pin setter machine. The framework moves between and open and closed position and in said open position the panels lie in different planes than adjacent cover panels.

Abstract: A stair support system for supporting a plurality of steps using an outer leg and stringer assembly. The stringer includes a plurality of risers which extend upwardly from the stringer to support the individual steps. Attached to and underlying each step is a channel member which extends along the length of the step and is sandwiched between the riser and the step's undersurface. Also disclosed is a deck support structure that is attachable to the outer leg to which the stringer is attached.

Abstract: A fastener implanting device used to implant a head portion of a "T" or "H"-shaped fastener within a body. The device has a needle portion and a grip portion. The needle portion has a fastener receiving cavity selectively covered by a movable sleeve. The sleeve's translational movement is controlled by a mechanism located in the device's grip portion.

Abstract: A disposable towel is described which employs a top layer of absorbent material and a bottom layer of water impermeable material. The towel is sized similar to a beach towel and can include pockets which can receive sand or personal articles. In the preferred embodiment, the material layers are made of paper and the bottom layer has a water proofing substance applied to its exterior surface. The towel of the instant invention can be stored in a waterproof container or be supplied in a multi-towel roll form.

Abstract: A statistics teaching aid of the Quincunx type. The device includes a pinplate which has at least one movable row of pins. Shifting of the movable pinrow effectively increases or decreases the number of pinrows on the pinplate. By shifting the pinrow, an operator can alter the shape of the resulting distribution of balls.

Abstract: A highcarbon-containing diaryliodonium initiator for cationic polymerization which possesses enhanced solubility characteristics over conventional diaryliodonium initiators. By the disclosed process, a novel photo/thermal initiator is obtained which is uniquely characterized by the concatenation of a long chain ester with an aryl group, resulting in a total number of carbon atoms in the entire moiety attached to the iodine atom in excess of 20.

Abstract: Particulates, oxides of nitrogen and sulfur and other air-polluting burdens are separated and removed from gas streams to be discharged to the atmosphere in compliance with the strictest regulations by precooling, scrubbing and neutralizing and cleaning operations conducted sequentially in apparatus including an array of air purification wheels of novel design and function on which water is centrifugally flowed continuously in contact with air passing through the wheel array in travel toward the ultimate discharge point.

Abstract: A mixer incorporating a shaft having one end which is adapted to be received into the chuck of a drill and the other end which includes a specially shaped mixing blade. The blade includes triangular end portions that are both angled up relative to the general plane of the blade. Rotation of the blade in one direction causes fluid to be pushed down and to the side. Reversing the blade direction causes the fluid to be pushed upward and to the side.

Abstract: Synthesis use of a new class of diaryliodonium salt photo and thermal polymerization initiators in which the aryl groups are substituted with alkoxy group bearing hydroxy groups. Good to excellent yields are obtained of diaryliodonium salts in which the aryl groups are substituted with long chain alkoxy groups, which alkoxy groups also possess at least one hydroxyl moiety attached at the 2-position of an alkoxy group. The resultant salts have enhanced solubility when compared with their lower molecular weight counterparts. The hydroxyl groups serve as chain transfer agents; and, in cross linking UV-induced cationic polymerizations, the hydroxyl groups effect marked accelertion on polymerization rates. The salts also have excellent compatability with nonpolar monomers such as epoxidized oil and poly(1,2-butadience oxide) and provide further benefits when they are used along with copper cocatalysts in thermally curable polymer systems.

Abstract: Method of purifying the pollutant gas in which a vortex is formed by spurting the purifying solution into the cylindrical tank and the pollutant gas is blast off in the same direction as the vortex so that the purified gas rising upward through the purifying solution to be discharged, and the pollutant gas purifying apparatus including the annular gas feed tube with the cylindrical water tank longitudinally installed along the inner circumferential surface of the annular gas feed tube and connecting tubes while water tubes are longitudinally installed inside the cylindrical tank and nozzles are vertically arranged in one direction, with water tubes connected to the pump.

Abstract: A protocol and apparatus for blind securement of an opaque, water-impervious membrane to a flat fixed margin of a water containment system. Specifically, the invention teaches a method for securing a pool lining wrinkle-free to a fixed structure of the pool, such as a molded stair module. An apparatus is provided herewith for effecting the method of the invention and consists basically in a grommet, a tactile index in the form of detent-receptacle paraphernalia and a planar faceplate, having template definition. The faceplate-template is used to securely press the membrane against the grommet while engaging the detent-receptacle apparatus.

Abstract: A Quincunx type of statistics training device having an improved ball-stop apparatus. The ball-stop comprises a base member having a plurality of forwardly extending pins. The base member is spring biased in a rearward direction and a latch mechanism is used to lock the base member in a forward position. Moving of the latch member allows the ball-stop to move rearwardly and thereby release any balls which had stacked up atop its pins.
