  • Patent number: 5290186
Abstract: A poultry processing device having a pair of substantially flat cooperating side-by-side thin blade-mounting members with a pair of cooperating blades mounted upon and extending forwardly in angled relation from the forward portions thereof, and secured at their rear portions by a transverse pivot pin. An adjustable spring member encircles the pivot pin and has opposite end portions each secured to a different one of the mounting members to urge the blades toward open position. A shiftable pin connects one end of the spring to one of the mounting members and shifts between a variety of positions along the length of one end portion of the spring to vary its torque. The lower blade extends downwardly at about a 45.degree. angle and is longer than the upper blade to compensate for the slicing action of the upper blade which results from the location of the pivot pin.

  • Patent number: 5277733
Abstract: A handled, open-ended, single layer, elastic and resilient thermal insulator for cylindrical beverage containers made in the form of a flat rectangular strip of foamed cross-linked polyolefin which is slightly longer than the circumference of the container to be insulated and has a pair of overlapping inter-engaging tabs at its opposite end portions and integral closed handle elements extending radially outwardly from above and below the tabs when the strip is applied to such a container. The insulator is made by a method in which a generally rectangular strip is cut from a panel of such flexible expanded thermal insulating material and, at the same time, a U-shaped cut is made in the interior of each of the opposite terminal portions of the strip to thereby produce flexible tabs, with the open end of each of the U-shaped cuts facing each other.

  • Patent number: 5251942
Abstract: A self-sealing pipe thread provides a connection for internally pressurized PVC pipes without the necessity of using sealant, O-rings, or gaskets. The thread holds pressure inside of the pipe and does not let gas or liquid to come in contact with any of the other threads. The sealing thread is provided by the tangential intersection between a flat annular sealing surface integrally formed on the head of the inside pipe thread and an annular line edge defining the inside edge of the ring step on the base of the outside pipe thread.

  • Patent number: 5240084
Abstract: A converter assembly for converting a drive-wheel-driven tractor into a track-driven tractor, the assembly having its frame separate and unattached relative to the frame of the tractor and constructed and arranged, together with a continuous track, to be positioned beneath the drive-wheel of the tractor, and within the track, in cooperating position with the drive-wheel and track, to effectively extend the ground-engaging area of the tractor. A pair of transversely spaced, relatively light, plate members rotatably mount a pair of idler wheels, one ahead and one behind the drive-wheel within the track. A pair of alignment rollers are also rotatably mounted between the plate members in engaging and aligning relation ahead and behind the drive-wheel, whereby the converter assembly is maintained in aligned relation with the drive-wheel, and some of the weight is transferred from the drive-wheel, through the alignment rollers and plate members, to the idler rollers.

  • Patent number: 5215353
Abstract: A three dimensionally adjustable frame designed to surround an easy chair having abbreviated armrests and providing a fulcrum support against which a user of the chair may bear and pivot about to aid in arising therefrom. The adjustable frame includes inter-engaging slidebar members which provide slideable adjustment thereof. The top portion of the adjustable frame carries a pair of fulcrum support members which extend outwardly from and in front of the front end of each armrest of the easy chair, thereby providing a bearing surface and fulcrum grip which the user of the chair can grasp to aid oneself when arising therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5176801
Abstract: A process for the removal of substantially chromium free sulfate from aqueous alkali metal solutions containing chromate and sulfate which includes mixing the solutions while having a pH of between about 2.5 and 4.5 with a calcium-containing material for a time and at a temperature sufficient to form a gypsum precipitate and separating that precipitate from the solutions; as well as a process for the production of alkali metal chlorate by electrolysis of alkali metal chloride including the removal of chromium free sulfate.

  • Patent number: 5175389
Abstract: An improved sabot bullet for use primarily in connection with shotgun shells which includes a slug having a forward portion which radially converges towards the middle portion thereof, and an outer conforming sabot casing which includes a pair of sabot segments which substantially surround and conform to the outer configuration of the slug. Each sabot segment is constructed to be slightly radially spaced from the slug near the constricted middle portion thereof, and to converge and engage the radially diverging portion of the slug near the forward end thereof, so as to cause the slug to be guided mainly at a point adjacent the front end thereof. Each sabot segment is also constructed to extend rearwardly beyond the rear end of the slug to facilitate rearward movement of the slug relative to the sabot, and consequent outward radial wedging of the sabot segments against the inner walls of the gun barrel, upon firing the fireman.

  • Patent number: 5172944
Abstract: A multiple point latching system, for use with single or multi-door enclosures, which utilizes a plurality of combinational cam-pinion latch members which are rotatably mounted to the inside surface of the door and simultaneously driven by an elongated rack which extends between such latches and disconnectedly inter-engages therewith. Each combinational cam-pinion latch includes a plurality of teeth which disconnectedly inter-engage with apertures in the rack to cause simultaneous rotation thereof. A handle which is connected to the door and accessible from the exterior thereof drives one of the latch members which in turn causes movement of the rack and consequent rotation of all other combinational cam-pinion latches. Such latches are rotatably mounted at spaced locations along the free peripheral portions of the enclosure door.
